BARNESVILLE -- Hazel Phillips, 90, of Barnesville, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of Pearl and Jesse Phillips of Apple Creek.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Jerusalem Cemetery.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Harper Funeral Home in Beallsville and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Eastern Star services will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born June 1, 1910, in Belmont County, to Emmett and Eliza (Love) Davis and married Kenneth Phillips. He died previously.
Surviving in addition to her daughter and son-in-law are two sons, Robert of Jerusalem and Kenneth of Beallsville; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

ASHLAND -- John Paul Norris, 88, formerly of 75 Harold Drive, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 21, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church in Ashland with Pastor Dan Allan and Pastor Norm Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Red Haw Cemetery where the Ashland County Joint Veterans Council will conduct full military graveside services.

He was born Dec. 10, 1912, in Paradise Hill, and was the son of Samuel E. and Bessie May (Evert) Norris.
He was married June 26, 1937, to Grace Lucille Schmid, who survives him. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jeff Owens of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Sue Norris of Ashland; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Alice Norris of Ashland.
Evalyn Nickel
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Evalyn M. Nickel, 87, of Phoenix, Ariz. and formerly of Vandalia, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in Phoenix, Ariz.
Services were held Jan. 19 in Vandalia at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City.
She was born Jan. 23, 1913, in Wayne County, to George M. and Della (Acker) Starr and married Virgil H. Nickel. He died Aug. 14, 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Van Gundy; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, all of Phoenix, Ariz., and a brother, George W. Starr of Orrville.
Duane Kirkendall
POTTER COUNTY, Pa. -- Duane Kirkendall, 42, of Potter County, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 12, 200,1 in Potter County, Pa.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 276 E. Bagley Road, Berea.
He was born July 8, 1958, in Middleburg Heights, to Virgil and Mary Ellen (Kuntz) Kirkendall.
Surviving are his parents, Mary Ellen Kirkendall of Berea and Virgil Kirkendall of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Van Kirkendall of Berea and Gregory Kirkendall of Potter County, Pa. and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Wooster area.

Emma Christie
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Emma Perkins Christie, 89, recently of Knoxville, Tenn., fell asleep on Jan. 11, 2001, and is awaiting the return of Jesus Christ.
She was born in Wooster.
In 1955, after marriage to widower Ward E. Christie (predeceased 1989) in Columbus, she devoted herself to raising his daughter, Joanne Christie (Vermillion, survivor).
Survived by sister, Rebecca Moore of Streetsboro, sisters-in-law, Madalene Perkins of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Elizabeth Christie of Irvine, Calif. and 18 nieces and nephews.
Emma donated her body to science. There will be a recognition service held in Knoxville by The Way of Tenn.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Jared Michael Green, 5, 5830 Waters Edge Drive, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Cape Fear Hospital in Fayetteville, N.C.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wooster, for family members on Jan. 20. Father John Mueller celebrated the Mass and Rev. Fred Clogg, great-uncle, assisted with the committal service at St. Mary Cemetery, Wooster.
Memorials may be made to the Jared Green Memorial Fund, in care of any First Citizens Bank in Fayetteville, N.C. in his memory.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Mary Freda Conrad, 89, formerly of Wooster and Columbus, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, in Glendale, Ariz.
Inurnment will be Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, Tucson, Ariz.

Mary was born March 6, 1911, in the Smithville area, to Charles and Blanche (Snyder) Batdorf and married Ward E. Conrad in 1930.

KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Eugene E. Gillespie, of Kingman, Ariz., died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, from a bullet wound to the head.
Private services were held Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Kingman, Ariz. Cremation will follow at a later date.

He was born Dec. 12, 1970, to Eugene T. and Frances L. Gillespie.

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Abbie Lena Weaver, 93, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Township Road 414, Dundee, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, following an extended illness.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the David J. Troyer residence, 3966 Township Road 414, Dundee, with Bishop Raymond Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Weaver Cemetery, Berlin Township.

She was born Nov. 24, 1907, in Bloomfield, Mont., to Enos and Sarah (Yoder) Yoder and married John E. Weaver on Dec. 22, 1931. He died July 3, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Eli J. (Mary) Weaver of Millersburg; three daughters, Mrs. David J. (Esther) Troyer of Dundee, Mrs. Jonas J. (Sarah) Miller of Chesapeake, Va., and Malinda Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Ripley Church of Christ with the Rev. Ralph Eichelberger officiating. Burial will be at Ripley Church Cemetery.

BURBANK -- Shelby Reed, born Shelby Jean McElhaney, July 7, 1941, in South Webster, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, in Jacksonville, Florida, after a prolonged illness.
Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Burbank with the Rev. Melvin Browning officiating. Burial will be at Burbank Cemetery.
