Stella Stockwell
AKRON -- Stella M. Stockwell, 89, of Akron, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Akron General Hospital, due to complications from surgery.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of Donald and Patricia Stockwell of Orrville.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Upper Trace Fork Church in Revere, W.Va. Burial will be at the family farm.
The family will receive family and friends prior to the services.
She was born June 24, 1913, to Emory and Elizabeth (Kirby) Bennett.
Other survivors include children, Elizabeth Coleman of Lancaster, Alice Stockwell of Akron and Bradley (Roberta) Stockwell of Nobe, W.Va.; many grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Woodrow (Chlorine) Bennett of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Chester Horst
ORRVILLE -- Chester K. Horst, 81, 430 OrrVilla Drive, No. 303, formerly of North Millborne Road, Orrville, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, while surrounded by his loving family at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, after an extended illness.
Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Martins Mennonite Church, with Pastor Randy Murray officiating. Burial will be at Martins Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Martins Mennonite Church, or one hour prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Horst's memory may be sent to Martins Mennonite Church, 14027 Church Road, Orrville 44667; or to Haven of Rest Ministries, P.O. Box 547, Akron 44309-0547.
Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
Horst was the eldest son of Albert and Alma (Kornhaus) Horst.
Surviving are Horst's beautiful wife, Dorothy (Byler) Horst, whom he married Aug. 28, 1943, at Oak Grove Mennonite Church near Smithville; a precious son, Alvin Horst and his wife, Sue of Orrville, three wonderful, dedicated daughters, Mrs. Richard (Laurel) Horst of Orrville, Mrs. Ed (Janet) Studer of Orrville and Mrs. Mike (Barb) Underwood of Salem, W.Va. Horst also adored his grandchildren, Brad, Tisha, Sasha, Ronald and Gerald Horst, Tracie Studer, Dexter, Dottie and Chet Underwood, along with his six great-grandchildren, Marica Horst, Collin and Conner Studer, Dylan, Maddison and Benjamin Underwood.
Horst also is loved and survived by brothers, Albert (Dorothy) Horst Jr. of Sawyer, Mich., LaVerne (Eileen) Horst of Smithville, Melvin Horst of Columbiana, Myron (Geneva) Horst of Dalton and Raymond (RuthAnn) Horst of Columbiana.
Helen Haberbusch
BURBANK -- Helen M. Haberbusch, 94, of Burbank, formerly of Cleveland, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 1930 W. 54th St., Cleveland, with the Rev. Michael Franz as celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.
Friends may call tonight (Tuesday) from 7-9 at Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi.

She was born April 5, 1908, in Europe to Anthony and Mary (Rebel) Haberbusch.
Surviving are a nephew, John (Joanna) Haberbusch of Burbank; and a great-nephew and a great-niece.
Lawrence Carpenter
MARSHALLVILLE -- Lawrence E. Carpenter, 79, 28 E. Euclid St., Marshallville, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at Rittman Church of God on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ray Freeman and the Rev. Faron Cole officiating. Burial will take place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.
Friends may call at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. or one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.

He was born April 13, 1923, in Nebo, W.Va., the son of Charles and Emma (Tanner) Carpenter. He was united in marriage to Imogene Mollohan on Oct. 2, 1947 in Ivydale, W.Va. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Harold Carpenter of Wooster, Kenneth (Chris) Carpenter of Martinsburg, W.Va., Vern (Judy) Carpenter and Norm (Cathy) Carpenter of Orrville, Jennings (Connie) Carpenter of Marshallville; daughters, Diana (Ron) Schieber of Akron and Annette (Mike) Lankford of Orrville; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandson; five step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Rowley of Blue Creek, W.Va., and nieces and nephews.
Terry Jackson and Elveila Jackson
RITTMAN -- Terry A. Jackson, 49, and his wife, Elveila W. Jackson, 46, both of 330 Villa Blvd. died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Medina General Hospital, from injuries received in an automobile accident near Westfield Center.
Joint services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Drive, Rittman with the Rev. Gerald R. Clevenger officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.

Terry was born on May 21, 1953, in Wadsworth to Woodrow and Henrietta (Adkins) Jackson Sr.
Surviving Terry are his mother, Henrietta Miller of Rittman; a brother, Woodrow Jackson of Rittman; sisters, Carol McKinney of Rittman and Jenivine (Randy) Tanner of Sterling.
Elveila was born on Sept. 14, 1956, in Cleveland to Richard and Elva (Huff) Lafferty.
Surviving Elveila are her father, Richard Lafferty of Akron; brothers, Dennis Lafferty of Chippewa Lake, Tim Lafferty of Spencer, and Calvin Lafferty of Cleveland.
Lucy Smith
CHIPPEWA LAKE -- Lucy Irene Smith, 83, of Chippewa Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Church at the Lake United Methodist, with the Rev. Jeff Lanzer officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, Hillcrest Chapel, Wadsworth.

She was born July 29, 1919, in North Olmsted to Ralph and Lucy (Underhill) Biddulph. She married Wayne Smith on July 4, 1942. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are children, Shirley Ann (Ken) Dusky of Romeo, Mich., Randy (Chris) Smith of North Eaton Township, Rhea Lee (Jim) Yannayon of Chippewa Lake; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
David Strouse
LOUDONVILLE -- David D. Strouse, 46, 652 Green Township Road 2724, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2002, at Samaritan Hospital, after a brief illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. Patricia Reiter officiating. Burial will be in Loudonville Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Monday) from 6-9 p.m. in the funeral home, where Masonic services will be conducted at 8:45 p.m.

He was born Nov. 8, 1955, in Mansfield to Dennis A. and Mary (Overholser) Strouse.

Strouse of the home; his mother, Mary Strouse of Loudonville; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Strouse of Wooster; and his sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and William Waldron of Dublin.
LaVerne Ames
HOLMESVILLE -- LaVerne Ames, 72, 6542 State Route 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at her residence, following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Holmesville Church of Christ with the Revs. Brian Powell and Don Campbell officiating.

Gaylord Buxton
WOOSTER -- Gaylord Earl Buxton, 73, of Wooster, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Wooster with the Rev. Evelyn Manzella officiating.

He was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Columbus, to Glen and Rhoda (Huff) Buxton.

WOOSTER -- Thomas J. Podsedly, 86, of Wooster, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster, with Father Patrick Henry officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Liskey Podsedly, whom he married Feb. 14, 1942; two daughters, Maryann (Thomas) Pacek of Smithville and Judith (Michael) Moody of Davidsonville, Maryland; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Robert Estill
MILLERSBURG -- Robert Bruce Estill, known as Bruce to his friends and family, died in his sleep on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002.
He was born March 30, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Macin E. Estill and Adelaide Duncan Estill.
Surviving are two brothers, John Malcolm and Roger Maxwell, both of Millersburg.
Calling hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Fritz Glaus
BREWSTER -- Fritz Glaus, 76, of Brewster, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in the emergency room of Massillon Community Hospital following a sudden illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster with the Rev. Joe Wright officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Wilmot.

He was born Sept. 20, 1926, in Wilderswil, Berne, Switzerland, to Fritz and Sophie (Allenbach) Glaus.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Filzer) Glaus; two sons, Fritz Glaus Jr. of Charlotte, N.C. and Peter Glaus of Brewster; two grandchildren and two sisters, Marti Stoner of Brewster and Sophie Grossen of Switzerland.
Robert Korns
MILLERSBURG -- Robert (Duer) Korns, 81, of 9110 Township Road 556, Millersburg, died Friday morning, Oct. 4, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Prairie Township Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Michaels officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Melvin McClure American Legion Post No. 551.

Robert was born June 26, 1921, in Geneva, and was the son of Robert F. and Katherine (Duer) Korns. On June 1, 1947, he married Betty L. Bell and she preceded him in death Oct. 12, 1992.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, Patricia and husband Keith Pulley of Blackstone, Va., Pamela and husband Steven Mermell of Bozeman, Mont. and Kathie Korns of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; four grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Burkey and Harriet Paxton, both of Willoughby, and Mrs. William (Mabel) Kiser of Holmesville.

WOOSTER -- Paul E. Messner, 92, formerly of Dover Road, died Thursday evening, Oct. 3, 2002, at Smithville-Western Care Center.

He was born Nov. 18, 1909, in Danville, Jefferson County, to Orin and Gladys (Severns) Messner and married N. LaVerge Strock. She died in 1993.
