GRAHAM, N.C. -- William S. "Bill" Smith, 75, of 1801 Eric Drive, Graham, N.C., died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Hospice Home.
Memorial services will be Thursday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. W.N. "Bill" Hoss officiating.
The family will receive callers at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215, or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Window Fund, 2719 Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
He was born March 14, 1927, in Wooster. His parents were the late Dr. A.C. Smith and the late Gail (Kinney) Smith Robson.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Zinn) Smith of the home; daughters, Carol (Brad) Nagie of Manteca, Calif., and Janet (Tom) Neill of Mebane; two granddaughters; sisters Annabelle Seckel of Columbus and Pat Jones of Michigan; brothers, Russel Smith of Wooster and John Smith of Westerville.

Daniel Yoder
DUNDEE -- Daniel R. Yoder, infant son of Robert A. and Louella L. (Stutzman) Yoder of 2465 Township Road 414, Dundee, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 22, 2002, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Yoder residence with Bishop Delbert D. Hershberger officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Walnut Creek Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime prior to the services.
Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek in handling arrangements.
He was born Aug. 22, 2002, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg. His parents are members of the Amish church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are four sisters, Marilyn, Edna Mae, Mary Esta and Rosie, and a brother, Andrew, all of the home; grandparents, Abe A. and Edna Yoder of Sugarcreek and Leroy and Verna Stutzman of Sugarcreek; and a great-grandmother, Lizzie Miller of Sugarcreek.

Andrew Beachy
MOUNT PERRY -- Andrew V. Beachy, 78, of Mount Perry, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Mount Carmel East Hospital.
Surviving are his second wife, Suzanne P. Beachy; two sons, Charles A. Beachy of Cleveland and Glennn A. Beachy of Columbus; three grandchildren, Katherine Jane, D.V.M. and husband, Kevin Witriol of Greensboro, North Carolina, William A. Beachy of Cleveland and Michael G. Beachy of Columbus; two stepdaughters, Deborah (James) Livingston and Christine (Timothy) Caldwell; a stepson, Michael (Kathy) Paul; six step-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben V. Beachy and Atlee Beachy; two sisters, Katie Marner and Mary Ann Wolfer.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset and one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Mount Perry Presbyterian Church with Pastor Ken Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Mount Perry Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Perry Presbyterian Church, American Cancer Society, or American Lung Association.

Charles L. Ewing
WOOSTER -- Charles L. Ewing II, 57, formerly of 927 E. Henry St., went home to be with his Lord Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2002, at Horn Retirement Village, Wooster.
A memorial service will be Monday, 1 p.m., at Wayne Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ida Sue School or Nick Amster Workshop, 266 Oldman Road, Wooster 44691.
In addition to his loving mother, he is survived by two brothers, James G. (Martha) Ewing and Robert B. Ewing, all of Burbank; five nieces and three nephews with their families, and numerous cousins.

Beulah Kiener
LOUISVILLE -- Beulah I. (Hochstetler) Kiener, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville with the Rev. Jonathan Butara officiating. Burial will be in Beech Mennonite Cemetery in Louisville.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in law, Lois and Thomas Kanel of North Canton, Dianne and Richard Royer of Louisville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Merle and Lillie Kiener, Karl and Bonne Kiener, all of Hartville, Dale and Becky Kiener of Louisville; a sister, LeVerle Sappington of Bridgewater, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Pat Hochstetler of Wooster; Wayne and Sandy Hochstetler of Smithville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Brooks H. Swinehart
WOOSTER -- Brooks H. Swinehart, 93, 758 Hamilton Ave., died Thursday morning, Aug. 22, 2002, at Westview Manor.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home in Wooster with the Rev. Glenn Royer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691 or to Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster 44691.
Surviving are his wife, E. Opal Dreibelbis Clark Swinehart, whom he married in 1979; children, Ferrell and Pat Swinehart of Wooster; Mrs. Ron (Phyllis Ann) Ulshafer of Ashtabula; stepdaughter Annette Clark Hilliard of Ocean Side, Calif.; grandchildren and their spouses, Tracey and Scott McIntyre, Terry and John Samuelson, Todd and Kris Ulshafer, Tom Ulshafer, Amy Swinehart, Kate Buzzard and Jen Badertscher; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Florence H. Williams
WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Florence H. Williams, 86, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002.
Services will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul J. Dickinson officiating.
Friends may call at The Goldenrod Chapel of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m.

Surviving are three sons, Charles E. (Karen) Williams of Orlando, Fla., Joseph H. (Patricia) Williams of Ohio and James R. (Sharon) Williams of Michigan; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Salvadore Polito
MILLERSBURG -- Salvadore Samuel Polito, 85, of Millersburg, and formerly of Cohasset, Mass., where he made his home until 1991, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 20, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home with the Revs. Thomas White and Herman Angle officiating. Burial will be at Killbuck Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-9 at the funeral home.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Jeanie Nicholson of Maine and Luciea Anderson of Massachusetts; stepdaughters and their spouses, Phyllis Bird and Barbara and Leroy Davis, all of Millersburg, Dottie and David Begley of Apple Creek, and Cathy and Gene Rockwell of West Salem; four grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great grandchild; sisters, Theresa Pettograsso, Barbara Harris and Angelena Luker, all of Massachusetts, Antoenette King of California and Carmilla Scott of Georgia; brothers, Joseph Polito of Wooster and William Polito of Massachusetts.

Nickolas Adams
WOOSTER -- Nickolas Roy "Nick" Adams, 13, 668 N. Apple Creek Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron, from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident near his home.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at West Hill Baptist Church, Wooster, with the Rev. Dan Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Canaan Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church.
Murray Funeral Home, Creston, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to World Help Bibles to China or to Jungle Aviation and Radio Services, in care of West Hill Baptist Church, 2241 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Sept. 19, 1988, in Wooster to Roy N. and Jacquie (Pittman) Adams.
He is survived by his parents; a brother, Benjamin Joel, of the home; sisters, Merry Promise and Katelyn Hope, both of the home; grandparents, Starling and Roberta Pittman of Creston and Harold and Marcene Adams of Doylestown; and by aunts, uncles and cousins.

Terry Bigley
MEDINA -- Terry L. Bigley, 52, of Medina, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 20, 2002, at Medina General Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Charles H. Dickerson officiating. Burial will be at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Lodi to Clarence and Ada (Brown) Bigley. He married Barbara Allen on May 24, 1971, and she survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Jeffery (Melinda) Bigley of Mallet Creek, Melissa Bigley of Medina, Angie (Matt) McHenry of Vermillion, Lori Freelandt of Wadsworth and Crystal (David) VanNewkirk of Chatham; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Jack of Marietta; and three sisters, Betty of Doylestown, Patty of Green and Joanne of Michigan.

David Patterson
CABOT, Ark. -- David L. Patterson Jr., 38, of 3541 Carrington Road, and formerly of Dalton, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at the Rebsamen Medical Center in Jacksonville, Ark., following a long illness.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. Marsha Boak officiating. Burial will take place at Prairie Township Cemetery in Holmesville.

He was born Aug. 18, 1964, in Wooster to David L. and Kathryn (Kreachbaum) Patterson Sr. with whom he had been living since 1993.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Rhonda Patterson of Orrville.

Florence Schumacher
KIDRON -- Florence E. Schumacher, 77, of Kidron, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at her home following a period of declining health.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church with the Revs. Terry Shue and Herman Myers officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-8 at the Fellowship Building of Kidron Mennonite Church or on Friday one hour prior to services at the church.
Spidell Funeral Home, Mount Eaton, is handling the arrangements.

She was born near Kidron on Sept. 11, 1924 to the late Simon J. and Ida P. (Sommer) Lehman.
On Nov. 23, 1949, she married Urie J. Schumacher. He died Sept. 15, 1984.
She is survived by four daughters, Nancy (Robert) Menotti of Orrville, Lynne (Shin "Charlie") Kim of Streetsboro, Annette (Richard) Harnish of Flanagan, Ill., and Kaye (Don) Neuenschwander of Dalton; five sons, Leslie (Susan) Schumacher of Kidron, Stanley Schumacher of Orrville, Frederick Schumacher of Dalton, Weldon Schumacher of Wooster and Dan Schumacher of Orrville; eight grandchildren, Laura and David Harnish, Jessie, Joshua and Jamie Kim, Shannon and Matthew Neuenschwander and Phillip Menotti; three brothers, Marvin G. Lehman and Vilas A. Lehman, both of Orrville and John P. Lehman of Mayfield Heights; a stepsister, Ellen Lehman of Kidron; a stepbrother, Richard Hofstetter of Orrville.

Lee Benjamin Jr.
KILLBUCK -- Lee Bertcil Benjamin Jr., 81, of Killbuck, and formerly of Canton and Navarre, died Monday evening, Aug. 19, 2002, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after a six-month battle with cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg, with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be at the Pennsville Cemetery in Morgan County, Ohio.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and two hours prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Killbuck United Methodist Church, 180 Mark Ave., Killbuck, OH 44637.
He was born April 7, 1921, in Morgan County, Ohio, and was the son of Lee and Eva (Carr) Benjamin. He married Mildred Mae Hallowell on Aug. 28, 1940, and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children and their spouses, David Lee and Kathy Benjamin of Reno, Nev., Bonnie and Wayne Rutherford of Centerburg and Robert and Rebecca Benjamin of Killbuck; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol and husband Bert Roberts of Reno, Nev., and Mary Gifford and Bernita Dunn, both of Malta and one brother, John and wife Sonja Benjamin of Malta.

Harold Fitzgerald
LAKEVILLE -- Harold P. Fitzgerald, 79, 7602 Township Road 466, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at Doctors Hospital in Massillon.
There will be no local services or calling hours. His ashes will be buried in a veterans cemetery in southern California.
Gresser Funeral Home, Orrville, is handling local arrangements.
He was born Jan. 6. 1923, in Watertown, Mass., and married Eleanor May Severing on Nov. 24, 1951. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Marvin (Vin-Ru) Pratt of Orange, Calif.; daughters, Patricia (Lorenzo) Demyers of Brea, Calif., and Joan (Frank) Blazynek of Lakeville; and five grandchildren.

Opal Kirkpatrick
DOYLESTOWN -- Opal I. Kirkpatrick, 91, died Aug. 19, 2002 at Barberton Citizens Hospital.
Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with the Rev. James Haynes officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Doylestown Church of the Nazarene, 15197 Portage St., Doylestown, 44230.
Opal Kirkpatrick was born June 16, 1911, in Glennville, W.Va. to John H. and Malinda (Lester) Lowther.
She is survived by stepchildren, Claudia Slyder of Akron and Doreen (Paul) Mattle of Barberton; step-grandson, Dave Mattle; half-sisters, Annabell Bernard of West Virginia, Wilma Jean Male of Cleveland; half-brother, Bill Lowther; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Harry Garst
LEESBURG, Fla. -- Harry M. Garst, 95, 800 Lake Port Boulevard, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002.
Services will be Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, from 7-9 p.m. where a Masonic service will be conducted by Ashland Lodge No. 151.
Mr. Garst was born May 15, 1907, the son of Walter and Florence Moon Garst, in Ashland County, but spent most of his early years in Wayne County.
Mr. Garst married Lola Elizabeth Shearer of Lakeville on June 16, 1932. Mrs. Garst died Oct. 23, 1990.
They have one son, Roger, who resides with his wife, Judy, in Cincinnati. Mr. Garst is survived by two grandchildren, Edward D. of Cincinnati and John W. of Easley, S.C.
