William Hood
DANVILLE -- William Lynn Hood, 51, 604 Center St., died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Mount Vernon to William G. and Betty L. (Moreland) Hood.
In addition to his parents of Danville, he is survived by his wife, Darlene (Owens) Hood, whom he married Oct. 31, 1976. Also surviving are two daughters, Julie and Rhonda Hood of Danville; two sons, Eric and Jason Hood of Danville; a brother, Greg (Sandy) Hood of Danville and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, at 1 p.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Gary Weller officiating. Burial will be in the Riley Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 5-8 and until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Doris Koenig
MILLERSBURG -- Doris A. Shaw Koenig, 79, of Millersburg, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, 2002, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fredericksburg Church of Christ with the Rev. Jeff Graebing officiating. Burial will be at Fredericksburg East Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.

She was born April 16, 1923, in Fredericksburg to Robert and Hazel (Johnson) Bricker and married Harley Junior Shaw in 1943. He died in 1971. She married Merle Koenig in 1979. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Harley Robert (Patricia J.) Shaw of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Lindsey (Bill) Kohlenburg of Mount Gilead; five grandchildren, Harley Andrew (Jodi) Shaw of Fredericksburg; Leslyn (Wesley) Overturf of Lews, Del., Joseph A. Magliocca of Virginia, Michael D. Magliocca of Michigan and Dorise C. Magliocca of Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Elijah and Eairn Overturf and Talla Amaya and sisters, Ruth (Clayton) Wagner of Smithville and Wilda (Chuck) McDaniel of Wooster.
Marcus Ladrach
WOOSTER -- Marcus F. Ladrach, 94, of Chester Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at his home.

(Beth) Ladrach Jr., both of Wooster, Elizabeth (James) Braun of Sherrodsville, Mary Ellen (Russell) Gortner of Seville, Helen (Franz) Pussel of Westlake and Edith Ladrach of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and sisters, Lucille Mutti of Stone Creek and Thelma Harstine of Dover.
Dean Mitchell
PERRYSVILLE -- Dean L. Mitchell, 80, 2459 State Route 511, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 5, 2002, at Samaritan Regional Health System, Ashland, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Perrysville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial with military services conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.

He was born June 4, 1922, near Shelby, to Boyd and Clara (Metz) Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Caralou (Kershner) Mitchell, whom he married March 16, 1946; a son and daughter-in-law, Lanny and Barb Mitchell of Mansfield; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Mitchell and Raymond Mitchell, both of Shelby; and two sisters, Effie Swineford of Nova, and Cora Simon of Panorama City, California.
Virgil Mottmiller
BARBERTON -- Virgil P. Mottmiller, 80, of Barberton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002.
He is survived by wife of 58 years, Mildred; son, Russell (Mary Anne) (Meyer) Mottmiller of Wooster; daughter, Carolyn (Edward) Kohler of Stow; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, Barberton, with David Dahlstein officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Irene Petter
WOOSTER -- Irene M. Petter, 91, of Wooster, and formerly of Berea, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Magnolia Care Center in Wadsworth.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born June 21, 1911, in Cleveland to John and Irene Parker.
Surviving are a son, Gary A. (Diane) Alberts of Wooster; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Beulah Abbott
WOOSTER -- Beulah L. Abbott, 91, formerly of 4138 Swanson Blvd., died Wednesday morning, July 17, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a period of declining health.
It was her wish to be cremated. Memorial services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Revs. Randall L. Gehres and Glenn Royer officiating. A private family burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina.

She was born Feb. 13, 1911, in Wayne County to Irvin and Grace (Keefer) Beery. She married Edwin T. Abbott on Oct. 1, 1933 in Seville. He died in September 1995.
She is survived by three sons, Wesley C. Abbott of Los Angeles, Donald E. (Marilyn) Abbott of Creston and Charles R. (Laurie) Abbott of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister Cecilia Davies of Sebring.
Martha Baney
WOOSTER -- Martha J. Baney, 78, of Wooster, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Akron General Medical Center.
Born October 14, 1923 in Smithville, she was the daughter of Melvin and Mellie (Etling) Rufener.
Surviving are her husband, Donald W. Baney, to whom she had been married 58 years. Daughters, Sandra (Abe) Keim of Wooster, Linda J. Baney of Wadsworth and Debra Baney of Wooster; sons, Don (Linda L.) Baney of Wooster, Ronald K. Baney of Wooster; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

BIG PRAIRIE -- Ronnie L. Edwards, 63, 13263 Township Road 511, P.O. Box 11, Big Prairie, and formerly of Orrville, died Sunday, Aug, 4, 2002, at Horn Nursing Home in Wooster, following a lingering illness.
Services will be held at Auble Funeral Home, Orrville, on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Rinehart officiating. Burial will take place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, near Wooster.

Ronnie was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Flushing, the son of Paul and Marie (Fuller) Edwards and was united in marriage to Mary E. Driscoll on Dec. 28, 1984 in Beach City. She survives. Previously he was married to Darlene E. (Bell) Edwards. She died in 1981.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary E. (Driscoll) Edwards are one daughter, Ruth A. (Daryl) Cleghorn of Birmingham, Ala.; one granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Cleghorn of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Paul "Buddy" Edwards of Orrville and nieces and nephews.

WOOSTER -- Ruth A. George, 80, of Wooster, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at her home.
Born July 26, 1922 in Wayne County, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Warner) George.
Surviving are nephews and nieces.

Elaine Kieffer
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Elaine Steele Kieffer, 86, of Walnut Creek, Calif. and formerly of Wooster for 36 years, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 in Walnut Creek, Calif.
She was born in Bangkok, Thailand.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, William F. Kieffer, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at The College of Wooster; a son, Richard W. Kieffer of Baltimore, Md. and a daughter, Lois K. Boykin of Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands, British West Indies.
L. Evelyn Kinsey
WILLARD -- L. Evelyn Kinsey, 85, 1000 Maplewood Ave., and formerly of Killbuck, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby, following a long illness.
There will be no calling hours. Private family services will be held.

LODI -- Helen I. Rufener, 83, of Lodi, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Meadowview Care Center in Seville.

She was born Jan. 10, 1919, in West Salem to James and Grace (Allen) Neiswinter.
She was a seamstress for Barnes Machinery Shop in Lodi and was a member of the United Methodist Church in West Salem.
Surviving are six children, Peggy (Ben) Kelly of Georgia, Sharon Frary of Lodi, Jim (Dee) Rufener of Burbank, Vikki (Gary) Richard of Mansfield, Richard Liston of West Salem and Denny Rufener of Florida; a stepson, Larry Liston of Ashland; 11 grandchildren including Sandy Frary and Greg Garver; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Ethel Howell and Opal Smith of West Salem.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Liston, in 1950 and a daughter, Sandy in 1945.
Laura Thompson
MASSILLON -- Laura Macile Thompson, 64, of Massillon, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at her home, following an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster with Pastor Raymond Miller officiating. Burial will be in Clover Ridge Cemetery, Clover, W.Va.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home or one hour prior to services on Thursday.
She was born April 15, 1938, in Newton, W.Va., to Everett and Virginia (Drennen) Drake and married William V. Thompson on April 16, 1955. He died Dec. 18, 1997.
Surviving are four daughters, Crystal Thompson of Massillon, Cynthia Thompson of Newton, W.Va., Mrs. Raymond (Wanda) Miller of West Salem, and Mrs. Jerry (Michele) Martin of Massillon; two sons, Barry Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas and William Thompson of Massillon; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Haley Smith of Massillon, Susie Goodwin of Apple Creek, and Eleanor Lovelady of Florida and a brother, Everett Drake Jr. of North Carolina.
