Virginia Howell
CANTON -- Virginia B. Howell, 78, of Canton, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2002, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after an extended illness.
She was the mother of Sharon (Rodney) Royer of Dalton.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Reed Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. Dr. Harold Henniger officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Canton Baptist Church; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Jan. 5, 1924, to Evart and Margaret Beck, and married Lawrence Howell. He died previously.
Other survivors include sons, Dana Jackson of Texas, John Padermos of Spain and Larry (Michelle) Howell of Canton; a stepdaughter, Linda Summe of Florida; grandchildren, Shelley, Christopher, Tyler and Jessica; step-grandchildren, Bridgett and Bryan; sisters, Arlene Rodman of Michigan, Janice Tressell and Dorothy Grace (Peter) Rohall, both of Canton; brothers, William (Joan) Beck of Florida, Raymond (Sue) Beck of East Canton and Robert (Carol) Beck of North Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Beck of East Canton.

Donald Ickes
FREMONT -- Donald C. Ickes, 67, County Road 41, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at St. Francis Health Care Center/Rehabilitation.
He was the father of Virginia Belcher of West Salem.
Services were held this morning (Saturday) at 10 at Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont, with Father Ray Fisher officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Fremont, to Robert L. and Leola E. (Brink) Ickes and married Eleanore "Ell" Oprie on Feb. 25, 1952 in Knoxville, Tenn. She died March 1, 1999.
Other survivors include, Daniel and Christopher Ickes and Deborah Hunker, all of Tiffin, Robert Ickes of Fremont, Lynn Foos of Brugoon, Brenda Lemke of Toledo and Rebecca Watt of Clyde; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard D. Ickes of Toledo; and a sister, Roberta A. Ickes of Fremont.

Viola Smithhisler
ROWSBURG -- Viola M. Martin Smithhisler, 89, formerly of Rowsburg, died Friday morning, Jan. 18, 2002, at Griffeth Nursing Home in Ashland.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville, with Chaplain Jerry Gess officiating. Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
She was born Nov. 22, 1912, in Wayne County, to Ervin and Maude (Franks) Gamber and married Russell Martin. He died Oct. 16, 1949. She then married John Smithhisler. He died Nov. 18, 1982.
Surviving are sons, Cliff (Eleanor) Martin of Ashland and Dale (Linda) Smithhisler of Ashland; stepchildren, June Wilcox of Shreve, Carol Griffeth of California, Roger Smithhisler of Washington, Howard Smithhisler of Polk and Ron Smithhisler of Oregon; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Everhart
DOVER -- Mary E. Everhart, 86, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Union Hospital in Dover. She had been a resident of Country Club Retirement Center in Dover and was formerly of Strasburg and Tuscarawas.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Fred Grosse officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, 211 8th St., Strasburg 44680.
She was born June 13, 1915, in Shanesville (Sugarcreek), to A.H. and Belle (Kerns) Steely and married Harold F. Everhart on Oct. 12, 1940. He died Oct. 28, 1998.
Surviving are a son, Alan (Linda) Everhart of New Philadelphia; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.

Mary Guthrie
MILLERSBURG -- Mary Louise Guthrie, 69, of County Road 59, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, after an extended illness.
Memorial services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Shepler Church in Coshocton County, with the Rev. Bob Angel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements.
She was born April 7, 1932, in Coshocton, to Wesley Weaver and Ruth Hysel and was raised by Ruth (Hysel)-Dolen and Albert Dolen.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Guthrie, whom she married March 8, 1958; children, Wallace Guthrie of Millersburg and Betty Pyers of Philippi, W.Va.; two grandsons; and a brother, Ronald Dolen of Zanesville.

Kevin Shaffer
KILLBUCK --Kevin Ray Shaffer, 38, of Killbuck, died Friday morning, Jan. 18, 2002, from injuries sustained in a one-car accident on state Route 21, just north of U.S. Route 30, near Massillon.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Thom White and Pastor Frank Milliron officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Shelbee and Dustin Shaffer Trust Fund, in care of The Killbuck Savings Bank.
He was born April 20, 1963, in Millersburg, to Gary Allison and Norma (Galford) Allison Shaffer and married Jody A. DeMarco on Dec. 29, 1990. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Shelbee and Dustin Shaffer, both of the home; his mother of Wooster; adoptive father and stepmother, Larry and Karen Shaffer of Millersburg; grandmother, Arminda Galford of Killbuck; a brother, Trent Shaffer of Millersburg; aunts and uncles, Joey and Shirley Galford, Louise and Denver Conner, Waneta and Gerald Carter, Gladys and John Gray, Margaret and Jim Barnhart, Jeanette and Bruce McBane, Robert and Marilyn Allison and Donna Hitchcock; numerous cousins; and a close friend, Richard Faught of Wooster.

Brannon Snyder
FREDERICKSBURG -- Brannon Joseph Snyder, 21, 5829 Salt Creek Road, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Don Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Fredericksburg East Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1980, in Wooster to John E. and Linda Sue (Lastohkein) Snyder.
Surviving are his mother of Fredericksburg; his father of Shreve; grandparents Elizabeth Lastohkein of Fredericksburg and Jack L. Snyder of Shreve; aunts, uncles and cousins.

William Spence
MARSHALLVILLE -- William R. "Bill" Spence, 51, of Marshallville, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, from injuries sustained in a helicopter crash.
Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with Father Stan Holland, T.O.R., as celebrant, Father David McCarthy as concelebrant and deacon Dale Youngblood. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery near Rittman.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, where a Scripture service will be conducted at 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the education of his children.
He was born June 23, 1950, in Akron to William H. and Lorna (Collins) Spence and married Kathleen Money on Nov. 30, 1974. She survives.
Other survivors include children Diane (Matthew) Camlin of New Jersey, Janet (Kenneth) Hajek of Wadsworth, Ryan, Carrie and Sarah, all of the home; his parents of Doylestown; brothers Doug Spence of Seville and Gary (Debbie) Spence of Doylestown; and a sister, Coreene (Jim) Lane of Doylestown.

Irene McHenry
CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Irene McHenry, 88, of Clearwater, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Sylvan Health Center in Clearwater.
Services were held today (Monday) at Clearwater Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Fla., with the Rev. John Hicks officiating.
She was born March 5, 1913, in Lakeville, and was married to Leroy N. McHenry for more than 50 years. He died previously.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Thomas Rhamey of Lakeville, Norma Anderson of Delaware, James Rhamey of Murchison, Texas, and Larry and Richard Irvin, both of Blanchester.

Donna Fouch
WOOSTER -- Donna M. Fouch, 72, of 1466 Hickory Lane, died Saturday evening, Jan. 19, 2002, at Akron General Medical Center.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Ken Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Fryburg Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make contributions to People to People Ministries, 454 E. Bowman St., Wooster; Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster; or Salvation Army, Wooster Corps, 437 S. Market St., Wooster 44691.
She was born Sept. 22, 1929, in Holmesville, to Roy and Fern (Rowe) Babb.
Surviving are sons, Michael and James Fouch, both of Wooster; and brothers, Rex Babb of Northfield Center, Ross Babb of Shreve and Roger Babb of Tucson.

Kenneth Lint
LOUDONVILLE -- Kenneth A. "Corky" Lint, 69, 16163 State Route 39, died Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2002, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Howard Horton officiating. Burial will be at Loudonville Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born July 25, 1932, in Glenmont, to Foster and Helena (Purdy) Lint and married Lillian Christman on April 5, 1968. She survives.
Other survivors include sons, Chad L. Lint of Loudonville and Kenny Allen Heffelfinger of Mansfield; brothers, Gene Lint of Ashland and Wesley Gordon Lint of Loudonville; and sisters, Madeline Grennell of Mount Vernon, Shirley Compton of Wooster and Judy Miller of Apple Creek.

William Lepley
MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- William S. "Sandy" Lepley, 70, of Morgan Hill, Calif., died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, in Almaden Rehabilitation Center, Los Gatos, Calif.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Perrysville, with Brother Frank Oden officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Arrangements are being handled by Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville.
He was born April 14, 1931, in Holmes County, to Willard M. and Cecilia (Boles) Lepley.
Surviving are daughters, Kim A. (William) Carr of Newark and Brenda J. Rothe of Heath; a stepdaughter, Virginia "Ginny" (Richard) Van Atta of St. Louisville; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Dale (Irene) Lepley of Danville and Cecil (Pat) Lepley of Zanesville.

Noah Petersheim
WOOSTER -- Noah D. Petersheim, 69, 1684 Mechanicsburg Road, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Akron General Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, with the Rev. Priscilla E. Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home.
He was born May 23, 1932, in Wayne County to David and Fannie (Miller) Petersheim and married Mary Flinner on Dec. 18, 1984. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children Lynn (Lanny) Chio of Jeromesville, Nancy (LaRue) Zuercher of Kidron, William Patterson, Lori (Jeff) Gonser, both of West Salem, and Shelly (Steve) Welsh of Apple Creek; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Levi (Donna) Petersheim of Fredericksburg, Ezra (Katie) of Maysville; a sister, Edna (Menno) Eicher of West Farmington and his stepmother, Ida Hilty Petersheim of Parkman.

Donald Hartzler
SMITHVILLE -- Donald L. Hartzler, 91, 3533 Eby Road, died Friday evening, Jan. 18, 2002, at Castle Nursing Home in Millersburg, of a long illness.
He was born near Smithville on April 11, 1910, the son of Elias E. and Rachael (Grove) Hartzler.
He is survived by his wife, Irene M. (Weidman) Hartzler, now residing in the assisted living of Castle Nursing Home in Millersburg. They were married Feb. 5, 1934. He also is survived by their son, Ronald L. and Diane (Hilligas) Hartzler, grandson Jon K. and Lisa Hartzler, their children, Austin W. and Danielle Hartzler of Odessa, Fla.; three granddaughters; Mrs. Peter (Penny) Wicher of St. Cloud, Fla., Eric and Amber Purcell (Penny's children), Randy and Christine Wicher (stepchildren), Mrs. Jack (Peggy) Curry and children, Kristen and Jerad of Burford, Ga., Mrs. Steve (Jayne) Schaffner of Winter Haven, Fla.
Arrangements are with Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville.
Services will be held in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ted Rust officiating. Burial will follow in Smithville Cemetery.

Helen Logsdon
WALNUT CREEK -- Helen Fitch Logsdon, 84, died at Walnut Hills Retirement Center on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002.
She was born in Merriman, Neb. She married Wade Logsdon. He died in 1982.
She is survived by a brother, Val Fitch of Princeton, N.J., a half-sister, Judi Singleton of Fayetteville, Ark., a stepsister, Marcia Weaber of Beulah, Colo., two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, at Millersburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karl Stonebraker officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.
There will be no calling hours.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Millersburg United Methodist Church, 5395 Killdeer Drive, Millersburg 44654.
Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements.
