Grover Grindstaff
WESTERVILLE -- Grover C. Grindstaff, 96, of Westerville, died Sunday, February 17, 2002, at St. Ann's Hospital.
Grover was born on September 26, 1905, in Graham County, N.C. He married Anna Kleich on Nov. 15, 1946.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Daniel Mullet of Columbus; a granddaughter; a sister, Lillie Wilcox of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Jim Stalder will be officiating. Interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery.

Nelson Yoder Sr.
BALTIC -- Nelson J. Yoder Sr., 82, 320 B N. Butler St., died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Countryside Chapel in Baltic with the Revs. Daniel Meininger and Dave Macy officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Friends may call tonight (Tuesday) from 6-9 at Countryside Chapel in Baltic.
Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling the arrangements.
He was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Sugarcreek to Jonas D. and Sarah (Miller) Yoder. His wife, Sarah M. Yoder, died Jan. 21, 2000.
Surviving are five sons, Jonas N. (Betty) Yoder of Millersburg, Andy N. (Nettie) Yoder and David N. (Christina) Yoder, both of Baltic, Raymond N. Yoder and Nelson J. Yoder Jr., both of the home; four daughters, Sarah N. Yoder and Clara N. Yoder, both of Baltic, Mrs. Moses (Lovina) Yoder of Apple Creek and Mrs. Chris (Freda) Martin of New Philadelphia; two stepsons, Daniel E. (Laura) Raber of Baltic and Andy E. (Ginger) Raber of Sugarcreek; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, John Henry (Mary) Yoder of Big Prairie, Melvin J. (Lydia) Yoder of Walnut Creek, Eli J. Yoder of New Philadelphia and Andy J. (Edna) Yoder of Nova and a sister, Clara J. Miller of Baltic.

Harold Miller
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Harold W. Miller, 81, 4916 Pershing Ave. S.E., and formerly of Wooster, passed away, Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at his home, following a long illness.
He was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Wayne County to Ernest and Gail (Mowrer) Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma (Johnston) Miller; children, Linda (Al) Vigil of San Diego, Patti Calvert and Randy (Sandy) Miller, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a brother, Paul (Lydia) Miller of Albuquerque, N.M.

Beatrice Smith
SHREVE -- Beatrice L. "Betty" Smith, 80, 6459 Columbus Road, died Monday morning, Feb. 18, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. Eric Fairhurst officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the time of services at the funeral home.
The family requests donations to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born June 23, 1921, in Marshallville to Charles and Avis (Drouhard) Redinger.
Surviving are her husband, Cecil A. Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Glenda Anderson of Wooster; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ellis Chapman of Wooster; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Judy Lyon of Apple Creek; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Rev. Randall Lehman of Wooster and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mary Carroll
WOOSTER -- Bessie I. Sovine, 88, 13221 Upper Fredericktown Road, Mount Vernon, and formerly of Perrysville, died Saturday morning, Feb. 16, 2002, at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon after a two-week illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville with the Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Perrysville.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
She was born July 25, 1913, in Newville to Francis William and Clara Louise (Godfield) Smith and married Otto Sovine. He died in 1962.
Surviving are a son, Donald (Kitty) Sovine of Perrysville; a stepdaughter, Betty (Bob) Spencer of Ashland; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Smith of Fredericktown; and a sister, Ellen Moore of Mount Vernon.Mary M. Carroll, 102, formerly of Williamsburg Court, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at West View Manor Nursing Home in Wooster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church.

She was born July 15, 1899, in Wooster to William F. and Helen (Murphy) Carroll.

Robert Hamilton
ASHLAND -- Robert H. Hamilton, 79, of Ashland, died unexpectedly, at his residence on Saturday, February 16, 2002.
He was born on June 28, 1922, in Akron the son of John and Roberta (Irvine) Hamilton. On June 9, 1946, he married Grace W. Phillips. She died May 5, 2000.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Patricia Hamilton and Michael and Carolyn Hamilton, all of Ashland and four grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Ashland, with Dr. Thomas Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashland County Memorial Park where the Ashland County Joint Veterans Council will conduct Military services.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday, February 20) from 6-9 p.m. at the Heyl Funeral Home.
The family suggests that donations in Robert's name be made to the following charities, Seating Fund-Myers Bandshell Ashland City Parks or Ashland High School Girls Softball.

Etta Amstutz
ORRVILLE -- Etta Amstutz, 81, of Orrville, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at her home, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the East Union Mennonite Church with James Amstutz and Eugene Derstine officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the East Union Mennonite Church or one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
She was born Aug. 8, 1920, near Dalton on August 8, 1920, to Jacob I. and Lydia (Steiner) Nussbaum and married Marvin L. Amstutz on June 10, 1945. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are six daughters, Bernice (Robert) Jones of Hagerstown, Md., Lola (Benjamin) Horst of Unity, Wis., Gladys (Ray) Yoder of Bastrop, Texas, Marvetta (Daniel) Weaver of Logan, Alice (Merle) Weaver of Wooster, and Laura (Nelson) Ramer of Nappanee, Ind.; seven sons, Clinton (Mary) Amstutz of Athens, Wis., Cletus (Becky) Amstutz of Midland, Texas, Glenford (Marie) Amstutz of East Waterford, Pa., Maurice (Joyce) Amstutz of Wooster, Arthur (Lorraine) Amstutz and Warren (Alta Mae) Amstutz, both of Orrville, and Alfred (Carolyn) Amstutz of Bolivia, South America; 72 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lester (Caroline) Amstutz of Apple Creek and Verda Neuenschwander of Dalton and a brother, Allen Nussbaum of Apple Creek.

John Strang
PERRYSVILLE -- John A. Strang, 89, 2065 state Route 60, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with the Rev. Robert Pflueger officiating. Burial will be at the Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The Lions will have a service tonight (Wednesday) at 8:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hayesville Lions Club, in care of William Harner, 849 County Road, 1904, Ashland 44805.
He was born Feb. 1, 1913, in Knox County to William H. and Lena (Stumbaugh) Strang. His wife, Wavalene Strang died May 1, 1992.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and J. Myron Leininger Jr. of Loudonville, Carol and Raymond Garling of Bradenton, Fla. and Janet and Thomas Helbert of Ashland; a son, Ivan Strang of Perrysville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Glenn W. Strang of Erin, Tenn. and two sisters, Goldie Aby of Ashland and Nellie Sipes of Loudonville.

Betty Neiger
SEVILLE -- Betty Neiger, 64, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at her home in Seville.
Services will be Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at the Armstrong-Waite Funeral Home, state Route 3, Seville, with the Rev. Doug Davidson officiating. Burial will be at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville.
Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Armstrong-Waite Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court St., Medina 44256.
She was born in Naomi, W.Va., the daughter of Earl and Cora Wiley.
She was the wonderful mother of daughter and son-in-law, Dawn (Wally) Reid of Medina, daughter, Melissa Neiger of Seville, son, Eric Neiger of Chippewa Lake, stepdaughter, Glenna Devine of Toledo; stepson, Rex Neiger of Shawville, Pa.; dear sister of brother, Edward Wiley of Medina, sister, June Feuerstein of Smithville, brother, Charles Wiley of Chillicothe, sister, Shirley McClaskey of McDonald, brother, Kenneth Wiley of Chippewa Lake, sister, Rose James of Anaheim, Calif. and brother, Roger Wiley of Medina. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Vincent Horning Sr.
SALEM -- Vincent R. Horning Sr., 83, 865 Superior Ave., died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Fla.
He was the father of Vince (Sally) Horning of Wooster.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem with the Rev. John Capper and Father Thomas Eisweirth officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society (Breast Research), 525 N. Broad St., Canfield 44406, or Our Lady's Purse, St. Paul's Church, 157 Ohio Ave., Salem 44460.
He was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Alliance to Arthur A. and Hilda (Bischoff) Horning.
Surviving in addition to his son of Wooster, are his wife, Bernice (Shears); son, Robert (Cathy) of Michigan City, Ind.; daughter, Patricia (Wes) Hunter of Reno, Nev.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Bonnie (Jim) Stoops of Suffield and Terry (Patti) Shears of Boardman; four step-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Whiteleather of Salem and brothers, Paul of Howland, Art of Alliance and Francis of Salem.
His first wife, Jean (Christie) died in 1995.

Velda Farr
KIMBOLTON -- Velda M. Farr, 74, 10733 McCleary's Road, Kimbolton, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at the home of her son.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster with the Rev. John Dailey officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Shreve.
Friends may call one hour prior to the time of the service at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Guernsey County, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge 43725.
She was born July 22, 1927, in Lorain County to Gurney and Mary (Myers) Andress.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Farr, whom she married in 1978; children, George (Lynn) Newberger of Wooster, Earl (Pam) Newberger of Kimbolton and Susan (Chuck) Barker of Chandler Heights, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and brothers, Earl Andress of Apache Junction, Ariz. and Gene Andress of Plymouth, Minn.
Her first husband, Clyde Newberger, whom she married June 17, 1946, died in July of 1976.

William Burns
WOOSTER -- William C. "Bill" Burns, 54, 2515 Ruble Drive, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 19, 2002.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, with Jeff Graebing of Fredericksburg Church of Christ officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

He was born March 26, 1947, in Louisville, Ky. to Elbert G. and Ruth (Sloane) Burns Sr. and married Florence J. McGill on Feb. 26, 1967.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Steven David (Leslie) of Smithville, Mark Allen (Pennie) of Smithville and Robert Neal of Columbus; three grandchildren; his father, Elbert G. Burns Sr. of Bowling Green, Ky.; sister, Betty Ann (Roy) Wyatt of Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, Elbert G. "Bud" (Virginia) Burns Jr. of Rittman and numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard Swank
WILMINGTON, Del. -- Howard W. Swank, Ph.D., 92, of Wilmington, Del., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, Del.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Loudonville Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Pollock officiating.
The Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
He was born Jan. 30, 1910, in Loudonville, to Harry and Cora (Wigton) Swank.
Surviving are his wife, Alma (Kemper) Swank; his son, Richard Swank of Wilmington, Del. and a brother, Roscoe Swank of Cuyahoga Falls.

Pollyanna Bruning
SPRINGFIELD, Pa. -- Pollyanna H. Bruning, 83, of Springfield, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Springfield, Pa.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi with the Rev. Kristin McKinley officiating. Burial will be at Burbank Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

She was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Burbank, to Charles and Grace (Welty) Hower and married William E. Bruning on March 15, 1942. He died in 1994.
Surviving are four daughters, Marianne Salpietra of Newburg, Ind., Pattilee Stefl of Springfield, Pa., Bettijean Giedgowd of Doylestown and Nancilynn Petroski of Springfield, Pa.; a son, William E. Bruning Jr. of Medina, Pa. and 11 grandchildren.
