ORRVILLE -- Esther Stambaugh Wenger, 105, formerly of 1936 Lynn Drive, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman.
Graveside services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville on Monday, March 25, 2002 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Rinehart officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling arrangements.

She was born on July 11, 1896, in Clinton, the daughter of Christian and Sevilla (Stauffer) Wenger. She was united in marriage to Harold Stambaugh on Dec. 25, 1916. He died in 1955. She was later united in marriage to Dan O. Wenger on Oct. 15, 1966. He died in 1973.
She is survived by granddaughters, Linda (Steve) Firsdon of Pemberville, Gail Stambaugh of Bowling Green, Wendy (John) Paulus of Golden, Colo.; three step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

SHERRODSVILLE -- Calvin Schlabach of Sherrodsville, and formerly of Wayne County and Guernsey County, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at his home.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Linn-Hert-Geig Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with the Rev. Glenn A. Shedlock officiating. Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Marlboro Cemetery, near Alliance.

ROWSBURG -- Deborah Lynn Elliott Overmyer, 51, of Rowsburg, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2002, at Samaritan Regional Health System.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with Pastor James Conn officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 1, 1951, in Ashland, to H. Clark and Miriam (Burns) Elliott.
Surviving are her father and stepmother, H. Clark Elliott and Sue Campo Elliott of Bailey Lakes; a son, Jon Overmyer of Ashland; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy Hudnut of Hayesville, Mindy and Jimmie Reef of Nankin and Tonya and Matt Humrichouser of Rowsburg; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Barb Elliott of Jeromesville; Doug and Becky Elliott and Brian Elliott, all of Ashland; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

DALTON -- Janet I. Purdy, 76, of Nussbaum Road, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Akron City Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster with Pastor Thomas Ledford officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Ambridge, Pa., to Karl and Arlene (Jolliff) Miller and married Clyde Earl Purdy on Feb. 28, 1947. He died March 9, 1997.
Surviving are children, Donna and Kenneth McHenry of Smithville, Thomas and Kristen Purdy of Orrville, Robin and Dennis Massie of Dalton, Carol and George Suppan of Bluffton, S.C., Mark and Michele Purdy of Dalton and Becky and Craig Peters of Orrville; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Jim Jones of Mentor and two nieces.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Peter R. Clogg, 41, of Omaha, Neb., died Wednesday, March 20, 2002. He collapsed en route to rehearsal.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Leroy Methodist Church in Westfield Center with the Rev. Larry Black officiating. Burial will be at Westfield Center Cemetery.

Janet Vacchio
WOOSTER -- Janet E. Vacchio, 78, 4110 E. Smithville Western Road, died Friday, March 22, 2002, at Smithville-Western Care Center.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 12, 1924, in South River, N.J., to Charles and Viola (Rawa) Meron and married Michael Vacchio on July 14, 1942. He died in November 1998.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and David Waldron of Wooster; two grandchildren; a brother, Thad Meron, of California; and a sister, Irene Meron, of New Jersey; two nephews and a niece.
Joseph Reed
ELYRIA -- Joseph G. Reed, 73, of Elyria, passed away Friday, March 22, 2002, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain, after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Lodi to Thomas and Gladys (Jeffrey) Reed.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; daughter, Deborah Winkler of Congress Township; three grandchildren; stepchildren Brenda (Issac) Dyer of Philadelphia, Pa., and Shawn Dyer of Elyria; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Franks of Lodi; and brothers Douglas (Myra) of Willowick, Carl (Ruth) of Lodi and Reginald (Betty) of Wellington.
Funeral service will be Tuesday. March 26, at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. The Rev. Robert Holmes of Pleasant Home will officiate. Burial will follow at Yost Cemetery in Congress Township.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1915, in Marshall County, Ky. to Garfield and Nancy (Honeycutt) Collins and married Charlie Johnson. He died in 1986.
Surviving are daughters Judy (David) McDonald, Jeanette Selbee, Bonnie Thacker and Mary Howell, all of Rittman, and Betty (Garland) Tackett of Marshallville; a son, Charles Johnson of Rittman; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters Maggie Hall and Diana Spivey, both of Britton, Mich.
Gertrude Haven
WOOSTER -- Gertrude Ann Haven, 58, 329 N. Grant St., died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Life Care of Medina.
There will be no services or calling hours following cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to defray expenses.

She was born July 18, 1943, in Stockton, Mo., to Gene R. and Helen P. (Reed) Robin and married Robert Haven on Oct. 29, 1966. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a brother, David L. Robin.

Surviving are his wife, Norma Kauffman Hamsher, whom he married Nov. 25, 1948; a son, Brian (Gwen) Hamsher of Sugarcreek; a daughter, Mrs. Bryan (Deb) Mast of Sugarcreek; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Edward (Margaret) Hamsher of Dover, Myron (Erma) Hamsher of Dalton and Reuben (Mabel) Hamsher, Robert Hamsher and James (Esther) Hamsher, all of Sugarcreek; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Miller of Orrville and Mrs. Glen (Betty) Martin of Dalton.

He was born May 27, 1905, in Knox County, to Roy and Ulma (Freed) DeLong.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dana and Nancy DeLong and Keith and Shirley DeLong, all of Ashland; a daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and William Drushel of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Milford DeLong of Wooster.
His first wife of 53 years, Muriel (Derrow) DeLong, his second wife, Grace DeLong.

LOUDONVILLE -- Alma E. Hoyer Long, 96, formerly of 135 N. Market St., died Saturday morning, March 23, 2002, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, following a long illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville with the Rev. Terry E. Ruther officiating. Burial will be at Loudonville Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 28, 1906, in Mansfield to Charles and Clara (Snedekor) Cline.

Her first husband, Ezra Hoyer, died in 1966; her second husband, Carl Long, in 1972.

SUGARCREEK -- Jacob H. DeLong, 96, of Center Street, died Saturday evening, March 23, 2002, at MedCentral/Mansfield John J. Troyer, 95, of Sugarcreek, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the home of his daughter.
Services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Maranatha Fellowship Church in Sugarcreek with Bishop Menno Miller officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery.

He was born March 5, 1907, in Plain City to John B. and Bena (Miller) Troyer and married Ada B. Hostetler on Dec. 30, 1930. She died Sept. 13, 1992.
Surviving are children, Vernon (Fannie) Troyer, Jonas (Katie) Troyer, Adin (Leona) Troyer, Mary (Wayne) Miller and Viola (Jake) Weaver, all of Sugarcreek and Norman (Karen) Troyer of Dundee; 33 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nora Plank of Greenwood, Ark.
Elizabeth Shahan
ORRVILLE -- Elizabeth (Lorene) Shahan, 74, 10369 Beech Drive, formerly of Akron, and a short-time resident of Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton passed on to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2002.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville with Pastor David Harbeson officiating.
Memorial services will be Thursday at noon at Central Baptist Church, 919 Johnston St., Akron.
Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
