Gladys Morris
WOOSTER -- Gladys E. Morris, 96, formerly of 431 Saybolt Ave., Apt. D, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, after a long illness. She had been a resident since October 2002.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with Pastor O.J. Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born May 16, 1906, in Bluffton to Charles and Cora (Ranes) Boutwell and married Eugene Morris on Feb. 4, 1971. He went to be with his Lord Aug. 14, 1985.
She moved to Wooster on April 1, 1986, from Bingen, Wash., where with her husband, was in charge of the Senior Citizens dances for 12 years before moving to Wooster.
She was a devoted homemaker and had attended Congress Community Church. She was a member of First Church of God, Wooster, where she was baptized and attended a Bible class. She was also a member of American Legion Post 7 of Tucson, Ariz., and was a volunteer weekly at Wayne County Care Center, Wooster.
She enjoyed walking, crocheting, sewing and sending inspirational cards and letters to those in need.
Surviving are children, Harold (Nora) Thompson of Kelso, Wash., Christian (Judy) Thompson of Middleton, Idaho and Juanita I. Vitaro of Wooster; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters.
In addition to her loving husband, her parents, children, Charles Thompson and Mary Alice Fordenwalt, died previously.
Clysta Richard
KIDRON -- Clysta E. Richard, 100, of Kidron, formerly of Creston, died Saturday evening, March 1, 2003, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, after a period of declining health.
Burial will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster, with memorial services to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church. The Rev. Norma Duerksen will officiate.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.

She was born Dec. 17, 1902, in Louisville to John and Katie (Krabill) Miller and married John B. Richard on Dec. 26, 1926. He died Aug. 4, 1976.
She had made her home on a farm on East Easton Road since 1926, and for the past 4 1/2 years with her nephew, Duane (Linda) Miller of Kidron. She enjoyed piecing quilts and crocheting.
She was a member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church and the Women's Sewing Circle.
Surviving in addition to her nephew, are nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, a sister, Sevilla Miller and brothers, Marvin and Ervin, died previously.
Edith Sheppard
WOOSTER -- Edith B. Sheppard, 86, formerly of Carter Drive, died Friday evening, Feb. 28, 2003, at West View Manor Nursing Home, Wooster.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Glenn Royer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born March 19, 1916, in Wayne County to Harry D. and Carolyn E. (Rice) Brown and married Mel H. Sheppard. He died in 1962. She then married Isaac Sheppard. He died in 1990.
He was a bookkeeper for many years for Maintenance Inc. and Underwood Lincoln Mercury.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and served the East Central Ohio Group of the American Heart Association for 23 years.
Surviving are stepsons, Ike Sheppard Jr. of Rochester, Mich., Berton Sheppard of Marco Island, Fla., and Richard Sheppard of Rutledge, Tenn.; four nieces and a nephews.
Wilma Simmons
ORRVILLE -- Wilma J. Simmons, 84, 840 Lee Drive, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville.
Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with Pastor Frank Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and Jarrod Lance, Bob and Jeremy Ralston, John and Jason Mollohan and Brian Baker.

She was born Jan. 18, 1919, in New Batavia to Malhon and Ethel (Boyd) Hoffman and married Edd Simmons on Dec. 20, 1946. He survives.
For 38 years, she had worked at the Will-Burt Co. in Orrville, retiring in 1984 and was a member of Church of Christ in Orrville.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading music and her cats.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are children, Paula Carr of Wooster and Wayne (Iris) Warner of Clark; stepchildren, Kathy (Don) Camargo and Dorothy "Dottie" Moore, both of Sun City, Calif., and Phillip Ray Simmons of Baltimore, Md.; a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Darrell (Helen) Hoffman of Fostoria and Russell Hoffman of Orrville; and a sister, Nina (Loren) Murray of Wooster.
A grandson, brothers, Ury, Floyd, Hilton, Earl and Dale and sisters, Jesse, Merna, Sylvia, Evelyn and Doris, died previously.
Bryon Camp
STERLING -- Byron W. Camp, 70, of Sterling, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2003.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home, 1376 High St., Wadsworth (one mile North of I-76 on state Route 94).
Private burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
He was born Nov. 12, 1932 in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
He served with the U.S. Navy for 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Surviving are sons, Skip Camp, Mike (Nancy) Camp, and Dave (Michele) Camp; daughters, Laura Pruett and Lynne Camp; eight grandchildren and sisters, Nancy, Betty, Grace, Bliss and Carol.
His wife, Rosemary Camp, died previously.
Larry Devoe
WELLINGTON -- Larry L. Devoe, 60, of Wellington, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Fairview General Hospital, Fairview Park.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, Wellington with Father James J. Reymann officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 370 S. Main, Wellington and Thursday at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
He was born Jan. 12, 1943 in Lodi to Donald and Elizabeth Devoe.
He was a 1961 graduate of Cloverleaf High School and a 1965 graduate of Ohio Northern University.
He was employed at the Utilities Department of Wellington and was a former employee of the Wellington High School Athletic Department as a football coach of the Wellington Dukes and the baseball teams. He was also a teacher of health and physical education. He retired in 2000 after teaching for 35 years.
He was a member of the Lorain County Athletic Department, Lorain County Athletic Hall of Fame and the Cloverleaf Hall of Fame. He was also a member of St. Patrick Church in Wellington and Wellington Eagles Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling and golfing.
Surviving are his wife, Judy (Strouse) Devoe, to whom he was married 37 years; a daughter, Darla Devoe of Southgate, Mich.; sons, David Devoe of Wellington and Dan Devoe of Cuyahoga Falls; five grandchildren; his father, Donald Devoe of Lodi and sisters, Judy Chapman of Lodi and Penny Wise of Alabama.
His mother, Elizabeth Devoe, died previously.
Dorothy McMillen
MILLERSBURG -- Dorothy G. McMillen, 94, 153 East Jones St., died Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2003, at her home, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Nashville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Wallace officiating. Burial will be at the Nashville Cemetery with graveside services conducted by her grandson, Duane Galbriath.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

She was born Oct. 1, 1908 in Glenmont and was the daughter of John and Avice (Augsburger) Lang. On June 23, 1929 she married J. James McMillen and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1991.
She attended Holmes County Normal School and Ashland University. In 1928 she began her teaching career at Drakes Valley, a one room school house. She taught school at Glenmont for five and one-half years, at Danville for four years, and taught five years at Lakeville before retiring in 1974. She was a substitute teacher for 10 years in Holmes County and Shreve Elementary School. Dorothy said "It is rewarding to influence and shape the lives of children."
She was a charter member of the Loudonville Eastern Star and the Nashville Grange. She was a member of the Nashville United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association and had been a 4-H leader.
Surviving are two children, Betty Galbraith of Millersburg and James E. and his wife, Jacqueline McMillen of Wadsworth; nine grandchildren; a step-grandson; 18 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; a brother, Wendell Lang of Nashville and two sisters, Eileen Wachtel of Nashville and Lillian Bevington of Millersburg.
Two daughters, Karen and Barbara, a granddaughter, Sue Ellen, a grandson, David, a brother and two sisters, died previously.
Thobern Meier
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Thobern J. "Toby" Meier, of West Hartford, Conn., beloved husband and father, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at the UCONN Medical Center in Farmington, Conn., after waging a valiant battle against leukemia.
Born in Apple Creek, Ohio on June 24, 1923, he was the son of the late Jacob and May (Beckler) Meier.
He graduated from Chicago Tech with an associates degree in engineering in 1943 and subsequently from Goodyear University. After serving in the Ohio State Guards, he began his career as a draftsman and designer with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio. In 1951 he joined General Outdoor Advertising Company, where he rose quickly through the ranks, managing branch operations in Salisbury, Md., Harrisburg, Pa., Providence, R.I., Westchester County, N.Y., Kansas City, Mo., New York City, N.Y. and finally, serving as the Eastern Regional Manager. In 1964 he moved to Connecticut where he served as president and director of Colonial Outdoor Advertising, and subsequently, secretary/treasurer of Leonard Sign Company. In the late 1970's he founded two successful sign and outdoor advertising companies: Vizability Inc. of Hartford and Metro Bulletins.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 58 years, Jeannette (Marthey); a son, Thobern Meier Jr., of Highland, Calif. and his wife, Christine; three daughters, Tana Parseliti of Amston, Conn., and her husband, Frank, Tara Wilson of Colchester, Conn. and her husband, Robert, Tricia Meier-Wasserman of Cromwell, Conn. and her husband, Ronald; seven grandchildren, Daniels Parseliti, Dana Parseliti, Brianna Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Danielle Meier, Lauren Meier, Vincent Meier and Sabrina Wasserman, his step-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Nevin Meier and his wife, Mary of Los Molinas, Calif.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Icle Meier, Ferris Meier and Marion Meier and one sister, Nadine Pickens.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Calver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford, Conn. on Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford, Conn.
Friends may call at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, Conn. on Wednesday from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Lorraine Shultz
WOOSTER -- Lorraine R. Shultz, 81, of Wooster, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at Horn Nursing Center.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Wooster Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. George Johnson officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

She was born Jan. 23, 1922 in Greeley, Colo. to Glenn and Eugenia Puder.
She worked as a cashier for Buy Rite Drugs in Riverton, Wyo. and attended Grace Brethren Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn (Wes) Smith of Wooster; a son, Dick (Betty) Shultz of Westlake; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Puder of Casper, Wyo. and sisters, Mary Frances Bailey of Casper, Wyo. and Lorraine (Ivan) Jones of Riverton, Wyo.
Her son, Jimmy Don Shultz, died previously.
Paul Shearer
ELYRIA -- Paul S. Shearer, 99, of Elyria, died early Monday morning, March 3, 2003, at the Elyria United Methodist Village, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel at the Elyria United Methodist Village on Friday, March 7 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Beth McKee, Chaplain of the Elyria United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Dalton Love, Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Elyria, will co-officiate. Interment will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the chapel of the Elyria United Methodist Village.

He was born in 1903 in Blairsville, Pa. to the late David and Lola (Bowser) Shearer.
He attended two years of Business College in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Paul retired in 1969 from Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania with 42 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was working in the office where he acquired right of way property for the telephone company. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Jane, moved to Elyria.
Paul was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elyria. He served as a volunteer for the Elyria United Methodist Village from 1982-1992 and then became a resident of the Village in 1995. He enjoyed reading, fishing and taking walks.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Irma (James) Sigworth of Elyria and Lola Isaak of Wooster; three grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane R. (Rall) Shearer in 1982, a son-in-law, William Isaak, four sisters and his parents.
Rosemary Bennett
WOOSTER -- Rosemary E. Bennett, 74, of Wooster, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

She was born March 27, 1928, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to John and Rose (Ambrustcher) Dennany and married Jack D. Bennett on June 17, 1975. He survives.
She was a secretary for the board of directors at Michigan State University, Lansing, Mich., and liked to travel, enjoyed crafts and reading. She also enjoyed having her children and grandchildren visit often and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are stepchildren, Jack (Neola) Bennett of Houston, Texas, Rex (Judy) Bennett and Jan (John) Douglas, both of Wooster and Dyke (Linda) Bennett of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, William Dennany of Lansing, Mich.; and a sister, Irene Kabboord of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Her parents and a brother, Donald Dennany, died previously.
