Erma Boyles
WOOSTER -- Erma P. Boyles, 92, of Wooster, entered into rest, Wednesday morning, January 8, 2003, at Horn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wooster, where she had resided since April 1987.
Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Wooster Cemetery with Dr. Claude L. McComas officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Boyles was born January 3, 1911 in Monroe Township, Holmes County, to Harry and Ida Korns and has been a Wooster resident for most of her life. She married James Boyles who also entered into rest.
She had worked for the former Regal Ware of Wooster for many years.
She is survived by her close friends and staff of Horn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Nancy Keller
LODI -- Nancy Maxine Keller, 80, of Lodi and formerly of Burbank, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Medina General Hospital.
She was born in Spencer, W.Va. on Oct. 3, 1922 to Victor and Letha (Niday) Hines and had resided in the Burbank area since 1946, moving to Lodi 10 years ago.
She retired in 1985 after 35 years as a licensed practical nurse at Apple Creek Developmental Center and had used her nursing skills for taking care of several people in the community over her working career.
She was a member of the Creston Church of God, Southern Baptist Church in Wachula, Fla. and Lodi Rebekah Lodge No. 596.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Larry) Yergin of Lodi and Phyllis (Gene) Reynolds of West Salem; grandchildren, Brian, Mike, John, Allen, Thomas, Dawn, Krystin, Jonathon and Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary K. (Francis) Gray of West Salem; a brother, Victor Jr. (Joyce) Hines of Jeromesville and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond in 1992, a son, Robert J. and a brother, Charles Ed Hines.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi with the Rev. Stanley Ward of Wadsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Burbank Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Steven Lech
WILMINGTON, Ill. -- Steven R. Lech, 50, of Wilmington, Ill. died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003.
Services were held Monday.
He was born May 11, 1952 in Chicago to Fred and Nancy Lech.
He was employed by the Chicago Sun Times.
Surviving are his children, Danielle (Matthew) Siegel of Warsaw, Megan, Ashleigh, Courtney, Noelle and Joshua Lech, all of Wooster; a grandson; brothers; sisters and nieces and nephews.
His parents died previously.

Lydia Lint
KILLBUCK -- Lydia A. Chupp Lint, 90, formerly of Duncan Avenue, Killbuck, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, 2003, at Pomerene Hospital, in Millersburg, following a long illness.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville with the Rev. Del Connor officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery, McZena.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 12740 County Road 330, Big Prairie 44611.
She was born March 22, 1912 in Holmes County to Dave and Mary (Midal) Chupp.
She was a nurse's aide and worked in the laundry at Horn's Nursing Home, Wooster before her retirement in 1981.
She had lived in the Holmes and Ashland counties area all of her life and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Big Prairie.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Teresa Lint of Killbuck, and Robert and Rita Lint of Glenmont; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen Lemon of Lakeville, Dixie and Tyrone Gibson of Massillon, and Joann and Richard Smail of Holmesville; 21 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Susie Clark of Shreve and Gracie Norris of Glenmont.
Her husband, Albert Lint died in 1992, four grandchildren and four brothers, John, Joseph, Levi, and Elmer Chupp, also died previously.

Fern Snively
LOUDONVILLE -- Fern I. Reynolds Snively, 94, formerly of South Mount Vernon Avenue, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 7, 2003, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, after an extended illness.
Services will be Friday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 127 S. Union St., Loudonville 44842.
Mrs. Snively was born Feb. 2, 1908 in Loudonville and was the daughter of William and Rhoda (Brown) Black.
She was a Loudonville resident all of her life and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Ethel Reynolds of Loudonville, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Clarence Reynolds, died in 1937, her second husband, Fred Snively, in 1972. Three sons, Ronald, Glenn, and Gene Reynolds, a granddaughter, four brothers and two sisters also died previously.

David Reese
CORTLAND -- David J. "Jack" Reese, 72, 2437 McCleary-Jacoby Road, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 7, 2003, in Specialty Select Center at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Youngstown, of complications following surgery at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Reese was born July 22, 1930 in Warren, the son of David T. and Lina (Weita) Reese. A lifelong area resident, he grew up in Niles, and attended Niles McKinley High School, where he was a member of the football team. A graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, he attended Bowling Green and Youngstown State Universities.
On July 14, 1951, he married the former Mary Louise Auble, formerly of Orrville. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2001.
Mr. Reese began his career in finance with City Loan and Savings of Warren in 1951, and later worked for the Credit Bureau of Warren. During this time, he contemplated joining in the funeral profession with his uncle, Richard W. Reese, on Robbins Avenue in Niles. His career led him elsewhere, where he joined Trumbull Memorial Hospital as the patient accounts manager in 1970. He worked in that position for 22 years, retiring in 1992.
He had served on the Board of Directors for SCOPE and Trumbull Credit Counseling, and had served as president of the Cortland Conservation League in the 1960s. He also served as president for the Cortland Elementary Parent Teacher Association and the Lakeview Bulldogs Football Boosters. He was the football game announcer for the Bulldogs during the 1970s and was a member of the Cortland Bazetta Historical Society.
A Methodist by faith, Mr. Reese was a man known for his conviction, discipline and loyalty. He enjoyed golf, gardening, stock car racing, wood crafts, yard work and sharing his love, time and experience with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, of Cortland; a son, Jim, and his wife, Gleama, of Cortland; two daughters, Mrs. Sheri Cody and her husband, Dale, of North Canton; Mrs. Beth Laenen, and her husband, Frank, of Pacific, Missouri, and his six grandchildren, Brad and Marc Cody, Justin and Jesse Laenen and Kayla and Gina Reese.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, in Niles, where friends call from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2003.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Bazetta Historical Society, Lakeview Bulldog Booster Club, or Hospice of Trumbull County.

Marjorie Berglind
NOVI, Mich. -- Marjorie Sears Berglind, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2002, in Novi, Michigan.
Born Sept. 8, 1913, she was a graduate of the University of Akron and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She taught in the Akron Public School system and was a charter member of the Weathervane Theater. After moving to Wooster, she founded and served as the first superintendent of Ida Sue School/Nick Amster Workshop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin G. Berglind and parents, Stephen and Idabel Sears.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Boring, grandson, Gregory Sears and his wife, Julie; great-grandson, Stephen; great-granddaughter, Abby; grandson, Eric Boring and his wife, Lisa; great-granddaughter, Danielle; sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Richard Kemp; niece, Leslie Kissel; three nephews, Richard, Stephen and Michael Kemp and their spouses and children.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at Saint James Episcopal Church, 127 W. North St., Wooster.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent in her name to Ida Sue School/Nick Amster Workshop, 266 Oldman Road, Wooster 44691.
Arrangements are being handled by Billow Funeral Home, Fairlawn Chapel, Akron.

Helen Schultz
WOOSTER -- Helen Speer Schultz, 88, passed away early Thursday, January 9, 2003, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Wooster, after a period of declining health.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1914 to Dr. Harvey B. and Anna M. Speer in Forest Grove, Pa. She spent her early years in Forest Grove and Coriopolis, Pa.
She was a graduate of the College of Wooster, where she met her life time partner and husband, Dr. William R. Schultz. They were married for 58 years prior to his death in 1997.
She was a homemaker and very active in the community. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deaconess. She was a past member of Junior Women's Club, member and past president of the Wednesday Women's Club, member and past president of the Traveler's Club, member and past president of the Women's Advisory Board at the College of Wooster, charter member of the Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary, charter member of the Board of Meals on Wheels, past member of the Alumni Board at the College of Wooster, and life member of the Wayne County Historical Society.
Surviving family members include her sister, Lou Nolan of St. Simons, Ga.; son, William R. Schultz Jr. of Wooster; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, her son, Harvey Schultz, daughter, Margaret Vogt; daughter-in-law, Royana Schultz and a great-grandson, Joshua Schultz, all preceded her in death.
A Memorial service honoring her life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Wooster Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Collier officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Boys Village, P.O. Box 518, Smithville 44677 or to the College of Wooster Women's Advisory Board, in care of the College of Wooster, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 4815 Munson St., N.W., Canton 44718 in her memory.
Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.

Lorraine Smucker
ORRVILLE -- Lorraine Smith Smucker, age 84, of Orrville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2003, at her residence.
Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no public services.
Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling final arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Paul and Lorraine Smucker Learning Center at Wayne College, 1901 Smucker Road, Orrville, OH 44667, or the First Church of Christ Scientist, 1736 Cleveland Road, Wooster, OH 44691.
Lorraine was born on August 4, 1918 in Fargo, ND, to Victor and Evangeline (Hunt) Smith and married Paul H. Smucker on June 29, 1940 in Orrville. Her husband was the former CEO of The J.M. Smucker Company and passed away on December 17, 1998.
She graduated from Orrville High School in 1936 and from Miami University (Ohio) in 1940. She was a very active supporter of education and over the years, served in many volunteer positions for the Orrville City Schools, the League of Women Voters, and the Association of American University Women. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist and was a Christian Science Practitioner for forty years.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Reid Wagstaff of Carmel, CA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Jennifer Smucker of Orrville and Richard and Emily Smucker of Medina, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Charlotte Osborne of Yountville, CA, a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Ed Langton of Temecula, CA, and a brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Ruby Smith of Lakeland, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Smith.

Blanche Bruce
MILLERSBURG -- Blanche A. Bruce, 81, of Millersburg and formerly of Holmesville, died Friday morning, January 10, 2003, at the Aultman Hospital in Canton, following a short illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Holmesville Church of Christ with the Revs. Brian Powell, Allen Smith and Bob Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at the Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville.
Friends may call Monday from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
She was born December 23, 1921 in Lakeville and was the daughter of John and Ethel (Wachtel) Lemon. On March 16, 1940 she married Donald Bruce Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1979.
She worked at Bruce's Greenhouse of Holmesville, and Addressograph-Multigraph of Holmesville.
She was a member of the Holmesville Church of Christ. She enjoyed dancing and was a 50 year member of the Holmesville American Legion and an avid bingo player.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Melvin McClure American Legion, 9150 State Route 83, Holmesville 44633.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Donald "J.R." and Laura Bruce of Millersburg; five grandchildren, Jamie Horn of Millersburg, Michael Bruce of Millersburg, Melissa Bruce Fitzpatrick of Barnesville, Thomas "T.J." Bruce of Millersburg and Cody Bruce of Millersburg; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Deck of Big Prairie and her guardian, Carol Harris of Millersburg.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

Edythe Buehler
RIDGWAY, Pa. -- Edythe G. Buehler, 89, 217A Laurel Mill Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at her residence, following a brief illness.
She was the sister and sister-in-law of Jeanette and Joe Diehl of Wooster.
Services were held Friday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ. Ron Burkett, lay minister, officiated. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Thompson Funeral Home in Ridgway, Pa.
Memorials may be made to Faith United Church of Christ, Ridgway Home Care or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Sept. 3, 1913 in Ridgway Township to Andrew Gustaf and Hulda Strom Anderson and married Adolph Otto Buehler on Aug. 18, 1933. He died Dec. 11, 1968.
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild of the church.
She had been employed by Elliott Company, Elk County General Hospital in the dietary department and as a custodian for many years.
Surviving in addition to her sister and brother-in-law of Wooster are her children, Marcella (James) Rickard Sr. and James F. (Judy) Buehler, both of Ridgway, Pa., G. Wayne (Christine) Buehler of Treasure Lake, Pa., Thomas A. (Roslyn) Buehler of Dewittville, N.Y., Paul O. (June) Buehler of Berea, Pauline (Perry H.) Dunn of Pittsboro, N.C. and Barbara L. (Dan) Sherry of Brookville, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; another sister, Helen (George) Legacy of Ridgway, Pa.; two brothers, Leonard Anderson of Erie, Pa. and Clarence F. Anderson of Lake Royale, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, two sons, Otto L. Buehler and Fred M. Buehler and two brothers, Donald and Clifford Anderson, died previously.
