WADSWORTH -- Thora Hamelic, 76, of Wadsworth, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Barberton Citizens Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with Fr. David McCarthy officiating. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 11, 1926 in Kansas to Mr. and Mrs. James Shepherd.
She was a resident of Wadsworth for 20 years and was formerly of Doylestown.
She retired from Westfield Insurance Co. and enjoyed reading.
Surviving is a son, James Hamelic of Medina.
Her husband, Carl F. Hamelic and sisters, Angie, Marion, and Daisy, died previously.
Monroe Kuhns
FREDERICKSBURG -- Bishop Monroe M. Kuhns, 74, 8438 Criswell Road, died Sunday morning, Jan. 12, 2003, at his home following a period of declining health.
Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. in his home with Minister Emanuel Schlabach officiating. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Wayne County.
Friends may call anytime at his home.
Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
He was born Feb. 25, 1928 in Nappanee, Ind. to Monroe J. and Fannie (Miller) Kuhns and married Ella Weaver on Oct. 31, 1957. She survives.
He had lived most of his life near Fredericksburg, where he was a farmer and harness and shoe repairman and later worked in a bulk food store. In October, 1972 he was ordained a minister in the Mount Hope District of the New Order Amish of which he was a member. On October 6, 1996 he was then ordained a Bishop.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are five children, Esther (James) Long of Wooster, Pete (Linda) Kuhns of Berlin, Steve (Judy) Kuhns of Fredericksburg, Mark (Susan) Kuhns of Mount Perry, and Leanna Kuhns of the home; 22 grandchildren; three sisters, Ida (Dan) Troyer of Middlefield, Katie Kratofil of Middlefield, and Susie (Boyd) Rodgers of Columbus; four brothers, Levi Kuhns of North Lawrence, Melvin Kuhns of Fredericksburg, Jake Kuhns of Plain City, and Freeman Kuhns of Middlefield; two stepbrothers, Ben and Joe Byler of Middlefield, and four stepsisters, Lydia Troyer and Clara Coblentz, both of Mercer, Pa., Emma Hostetler of Sparta, Pa., and Jamima Troyer of Parkman.
A daughter, Miriam, a grandson, a sister, and two brothers, died previously.
Rose Martin
ASHLAND -- Rose Mary Martin, 79, of Richards Drive, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2003, at The Good Shepherd Home, Ashland, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. Timothy Heinrich of Vermillion Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery, Hayesville.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 8, 1923 in Akron to Anthony R. and Theresa C. (Frahlich) Schaffer.
She was an Ashland resident most of her life where she was a homemaker and member of St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, John and Nancy Martin of Polk, and Ron and Darlene Martin of Ashland; her daughter and husband, Faye and Ronald Shambaugh of Ashland; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and three brothers, George Schaffer of Iowa, Anthony "Bobby" Schaffer of Texas, and Martin Schaffer of Barnett, Mo.
Her husband, Floyd Martin died in 1989; her son, Don H. Martin in 1979 and her sister, Helen Smith, also died previously.
Edna Miller
FREDERICKSBURG -- Edna Miller, 66, 12891 Nisley Road, died early Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, in the emergency room of Wooster Community Hospital, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at her residence with Bishop John J. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery, Paint Township, Wayne County.

She was born July 6, 1936, near Fredericksburg to Alfred and Bena (Nisley) Yoder and married Andy J. M. Miller on Oct. 20, 1959. He survives.
She had lived most of her life in this area and was a member of the Old Order Amish.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her stepmother, Amelia Yoder of Jelloway; four brothers, John (Melva) Yoder of Phoenix, Ariz., Roy (Lydia) Yoder, Melvin (Dena) Yoder, and Leon (Barbara) Yoder, all of Jelloway, and a sister Mary (Rufus) Yoder of Jelloway.
Jeanette Peters
WOOSTER -- Jeanette R. Peters, 80, 200 S. Market St., Apt. 611, entered into rest Saturday morning, January 11, 2003, at Horn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wooster, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Ermon French officiating followed by interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to American Cancer Society, 925 S. Main St., North Canton 44720.
Mrs. Peters was born November 15, 1922 in Wooster to Harry E. and Mary A. (Tanner) Stull and has been a life-long resident of Wooster.
She married Royden "Lee" Peters on April 27, 1965 in Wooster. He survives.
She had worked for various restaurants in the Wooster area for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wooster, was an auxiliary member of Moose Lodge No. 115 and past member of Eagles Lodge No. 811, both of Wooster.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by a stepsister-in-law, Kathy Goodman of Wooster.
She is preceded in death by an infant brother, her first husband, Weldon H. Goodman and a stepbrother-in-law, Zoyd Goodman.
Mary Petryszak
DALTON -- Mary Petryszak, 86, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown with Fr. David McCarthy officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown, W.Va.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, Route 93, Canal Fulton.
The family suggests donations may be made to either SS Peter & Paul Endowment Fund or the Marshallville Volunteer Fire Department.
She was born in Colver, Pa. and was formerly of Marshallville, Franklin Township, Akron, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Morgantown, W.Va.
Surviving are sons, John (Glenna) of Hollywood, Fla., Michael (Kay) of Clearwater, Fla. and James (Cynthia) of Marshallville; a daughter, Mary Ann (Vergie) Gipson of Franklin Township; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 56 years, John Petryszak, died in 1991 and her brother, John Stasiuk died in 2000.
Samuel Steiner
DALTON -- Samuel Steiner, 81, of Dalton, died Saturday evening, Jan. 11, 2003, at his home, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Sonnenberg Mennonite Church near Kidron with Clarence Eberly, Arthur Amstutz, and Harry Neuenschwander officiating. Burial will be at the Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Church.

He was born March 3, 1921 near Dalton to Menno and Sarah (Nussbaum) Steiner and married Orpha M. Neuenschwander on Jan. 21, 1945. She died Dec. 10, 1983.
He had lived all of his life in this area and was a retired farmer and had served as minister for nearly 20 years at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Kidron. At the time of his death he was a member of the County Line Mennonite Church near Dalton.
Surviving are eight sons and four daughters, Wilbur (Ann) Steiner of Smithville, Irvin (Sally) Steiner of Jonestown, Pa., John Steiner of Dalton, Oris (Dorothy) Steiner of Apple Creek, Vilas Steiner, Clifford (Denise) Steiner, and Maynard (Cheryl) Steiner, all of Dalton, Olen (Garneta) Steiner of Apple Creek, Miriam, Arlene, and Esther Steiner, all of Dalton and Mary Ann (James) Steiner of Sterling; 48 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother Lester (Irene) Steiner of Dalton; four sisters, Ella Steiner of Apple Creek, Annie (Albert) Neuenschwander of Dalton, Rosina (Earl) Amstutz of Orrville, and Idella Snavely of Dalton.
A granddaughter, four brothers, Allen, Melvin, Menno Jr., and Aldis Steiner and five sisters, Levina Steiner, Martha Geiser, Esther Geiser, and Ida and Sarah Steiner, died previously.
John Brown
POLK -- John Wesley Brown, 90, 1034 Township Road 251, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Brethren Care Village in Ashland.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville, with David Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Red Haw Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1912, in Jackson Township to Carl and Della (Lavengood) Brown and was a 1931 graduate of Polk High School.
He was a farmer all of his life and a member of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, West Salem Masonic Lodge, West Salem Eastern Star and Ashland County Farm Bureau for more than 50 years. He was a former member of Polk Lions Club.
Surviving is his wife, Marie (Stone) Brown. They were married June 15, 1940.
Two brothers died previously.
Sue Gray
WOOSTER -- Sue Ellen (Hooley) Gray, 75, of Wooster, passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2003, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, after a brief illness.
It was her wishes for cremation. A family service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

She was born July 27, 1927, in Shreve to Ross and Marcella (Mayers) Hooley and was a 1945 graduate of Wooster High School. She had made her home in Wayne County most of her life and retired from Rubbermaid Inc., Wooster, after many years of service.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wooster and was a past member of Wooster American Legion Post 68 Auxiliary.
Surviving are children, Connie Fordenwalt Weisgarber and her husband, Marvin, of Tappan Lake, Kenneth (Connie) Hooley of Dunedin, Fla., Elizabeth Foster Lloyd of Wooster, Richard (Wendy) Hooley of Orrville and Carolyn (Charlie) Maier of Dalton; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jane Gordon, Ruth Ann Bowman and Shirley (Edwin) Yund, all of Wooster.
Daughters, Carol Ruth Hooley and Cynthia Ann McCullough, a sister, June Miller and brothers, Robert, Frances, Richard and Donald Gray, died previously.
William Ledford Sr.
RITTMAN -- William R. "Bob" Ledford Sr., 82, 136 1/2 Wright St., died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at his home.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Beals Cemetery in Jonesboro, Tenn.
Local calling hours are tonight (Tuesday) from 6-8 at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman.
He was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Erwin, Tenn., to Samuel and Leona (Jones) Ledford. He had made his home in Jonesboro, Tenn., moving to Rittman in 1990.
He was an iron worker for Local 17 in Cleveland, retiring in 1981, and was a member of Ohio Gamefowl Breeders Association.
Surviving are children, Mike Ledford of Wooster, Stan Ledford and Linda Ledford, both of Rittman, John Ledford of Akron, Bobby Ledford Jr. and Imogene Metcalf, both of Johnson City, Tenn., Mary Fankhauser and Judy Reeves, both of Wadsworth; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brothers, A.C. "Jack" Ledford of Akron and Morris Ledford of Elizabeth, Tenn.; and sisters, Nell Rader and Tex Lipps, both of Johnson City, Tenn.
A son, Billy Joe Ledford, died previously.
Donna Miller
ORRVILLE -- Donna E. Miller, 66, of Orrville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Wayne County Care Center, following complications with her heart.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Reed Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Divine officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born April 20, 1936, in Canton to Guy and Ruth Pesko.
Surviving are children, Gail O'Reilly of Canton, Sheila (David) Kasper of North Carolina and Randy (Christine) Miller of Orrville; grandchildren, Nicole Johnson, Adam Gilbert, Kyle Kasper and Akasha Kasper; a brother, Russell (Pat) Pesko of Akron; and a sister, Auldine (Albert) Tovissi of Canton.
A son, Scott Miller, her parents and brothers, Ronnie and Tommie Pesko, died previously.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wayne County Care Center for their excellent nursing skills in the treatment of their mother.
The people of this facility care about their residents as if they were their own family. We could not single out one person to praise, for to praise one we would have to praise all.

Donald Roshon
CRESTON -- Donald R. Roshon, 76, 4899 Doylestown Road, died Monday morning, Jan. 13, 2003, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Bruce Darling officiating. Burial will be at Poe Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the firemen will hold services at 9 p.m.

He was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Guilford Township, Medina County to Floyd and Revena (Bailey) Roshon and married Betty Holland in 1944. She died in 1988. On July 1, 1989, he married Rosemary Frazee. She survives.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943-46 and had made his home in Chippewa Lake, moving to Creston 13 years ago. He retired from Baker Sand & Gravel and had served as street commissioner of Seville. He was also owner/operator of D & B Sunoco in Chippewa Lake and owner of an excavating company.
He was a member of Chippewa Lake Lions Club, Chippewa Lake Fire Department for more than 25 years, serving as assistant fire chief and was Santa Claus in Chippewa Lake and surrounding areas.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughters, Donna (Jerry) Hall of West Salem, Jackie (David) Norris of Norwalk, Jane (Kenneth) Highman of Chippewa Lake and Pamela (Neil) Wein of Woodstock, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, brothers, Albert and Floyd Roshon and sisters, Beulah Graig, Ruth Aikman and Ada Reutter, died previously.
