Effie Yoder
MILLERSBURG -- Effie Yoder, 69, 8229 Township Road 652, died early Sunday morning, Jan. 19, 2003, at her home after an extended illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Ervin Hershberger residence, 8260 Township Road 652, Millersburg, with Bishop Eli Shetler officiating. Burial will be at Hershberger Cemetery, Paint Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
She was born March 2, 1933, in Holmes County to Eli J.C. and Clara (Weaver) Miller and married Eli A. Yoder on April 17, 1952. He survives.
She was a member of the Amish Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are children, Esta (Mahlon) Gingerich, Ellen (Jerry) Kline, Ed Yoder and Steve (Marilyn) Yoder, all of Millersburg, Robert (Marie) Yoder of Walhonding, and Matthew (Martha) Yoder of Lyndonville, N.Y.; 31 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brothers, Emanuel Miller of Martinsburg and Eli Miller of Newcomerstown; and sisters, Susie (Jacob) Mullet of Millersburg and Ada (Jacob) Nisley of Conneautville, Pa.
A daughter-in-law, Anna (Kline) Yoder, a grandson and two brothers died previously.
Ruth Boreman
WOOSTER -- Ruth A. Boreman, 88, of Wooster, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at West View Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. Regis Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at 8 Square Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 28, 1914 in Jeromesville to Floyd and Esta (Smith) Eagle.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Northview Alliance Church, Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the Grange at the Wayne County Fair. She was also a member and officer of Church Women United and Womens Christian Missionary.
Surviving are daughters, Arlene (Norman) Swain and Carrie (Parker) Hagans, both of Wooster, Dorothy (Robert) Copas of Findlay; a son, Phillip (Betty) Boreman of Wooster; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Eagle of Ashland and sisters, Esther Lifer of Ashland and Mary Johnson of Medina.
Her husband, Cleveland Guy Boreman, brothers, Floy, Milo, Royd and Clyde Eagle, her twin sister, Ruby Kuntz and a grandchild, died previously.
Dale Haas
AKRON -- Dale E. Haas, 59, 1005 Bertha Avenue, Akron, formerly of the Orrville, Dalton and Massillon areas, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville with the Rev. Randy Gehres officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville or one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
He was born on November 19, 1943 in Massillon to Norman and Eunice (Jones) Haas.
He graduated from Orrville High School and held master's degrees from the University of Akron and Ohio University.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam as a 1st. Sergeant and served in the National Guard for many years following his active duty.
He previously worked as the principal at the Mohican Youth Center in Loudonville and as a guidance counselor at the Indian River Youth Correctional Facility in Massillon.
He served as a gentleman host on various cruise lines and enjoyed tennis and dancing. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and was a home improvement specialist.
He is survived by a son, Nathan (Tamara) Haas of Dalton; his fiancee, Sheila White of Akron; two grandchildren, Hannah Miller and Logan Haas; two brothers, Ron Haas of Florida and Jim Haas of Wooster, a nephew and two nieces.
Both parents preceded him in death.
Bonnie Hunter
WOOSTER -- Bonnie J. Hunter, 82, of Wooster, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, in Horn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness.
Services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with the Rev. Dr. Roger E. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home with an Emblem Club Memorial Service at 6:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Kidney Foundation, 442 N. Market St., Wooster 44691 in her memory.
Born November 1, 1920 in Shelby, she was the daughter of William C. and Iva Mae (Thomas) Geary. She married James P. Hunter on November 29, 1941. He survives.
She was a 1938 graduate of Shelby High School and worked 12 years at the Citizens National Bank and Bank One of Wooster.
She was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church and the Wooster Emblem Club, where she was an officer for 10 years and an official pianist. She portrayed Betsy Ross in many community functions. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Rachel of Mansfield, Sallie (Ronnie) Walton of Creston, Diane Weitzel of Wooster and Patti (John) Masters of Mount Eaton; eight grandchildren, Michelle Rachel Lewis, Jeffrey P. Rachel, Jennifer Walton Walker, Jessica Walton, Jamie Weitzel Brown, Christie Weitzel, Joshua Masters and Andrea Masters and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a brother, William T. Geary.
Gregory Jung
BARBERTON -- Gregory Jung, 54, of Barberton, passed away January 19, 2003 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He taught us how to enjoy life's simple pleasures, how to love each other, and how to keep the faith against life's biggest challenges.
Born on November 19, 1948 he was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jung.
He is survived by his wife Linda Jung; daughter, Kelly (Noel) Roy; sons, Christopher (Melisa) Jung and Mark Jung; stepson, Clifford Albanese; mother, Regina Jung; sister, Christine (Thom) McDaniels; brothers, Michael (Kathy) Jung and Steve (Terrie) Jung; grandchildren, Lauren, Zachary and Madison Jung, Meghan Jung, Olivia and David Roy.
He also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
Employed for 20 years at Schwebels Baking Co., he was a member of Teamsters Local No. 52, he spent his free time with his family.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he served proudly in Vietnam on the USS George K. Mackenzie.
A member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown, he was a man of faith, who accepted his illness with dignity. He was a member of both the Loyal Oak and Chippewa Golf Leagues. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren swimming in his backyard pool, spending quiet time with his wife and surrounded by his siblings and their families. An avid football and racing fan, he wanted to thank the Ohio State Buckeyes for making his final days memorable, and not making him "wait until next year."
The family would like to thank Dr. Sam Ghoubrial for all of his love and support, and for becoming a "member of the family."
Though you are no longer with us here on earth, we know you will be watching over us from a place of peace, guiding us with love and tenderness as we walk through the world. Your spirit will live on in each person whose life was touched by your goodness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Fr. David McCarthy, celebrant. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted.

William Leech
PERRYSVILLE -- William A. "Corky" Leech, 73, 2751 State Route 39, died Monday morning, Jan. 20, 2003, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital, following a two week illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 23, at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. Roy E. Godfrey officiating. Burial with military services conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 8, 1929 in Perrysville to Harry M. and Effie V. (Funk) Leech.
He lived in Perrysville all of his life and was a graduate of Perrysville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a 40 year employee of Mansfield Plumbing Products, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Perrysville; Hanover Lodge No. 115 F&AM: Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus; Aladdin Shrine Temple; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8586; 40 et 8; AMVETS of Hayesville; a life member and past Commander of Loudon Post 257 American Legion; and life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served 25 years, retiring as a Captain for the Green-Perrysville Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice V. (Stitzlein) Leech, whom he married Dec. 27, 1954; his sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Jim Zody of Perrysville and nieces and nephews.
A stepson, Commodore Johnston III and two brothers, Donald C. Leech and Edward E. Leech, died previously.
Alvin Rohr
NAVARRE -- Alvin J. "Abe" Rohr, 79, of Navarre, died early Monday morning, January 20, 2003, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, following a two month illness.
He was born in Jackson Township on July 30, 1923 to the late Augustine and Irene (Sibila) Rohr and had lived most of his life near Mount Eaton.
He was a farmer and a fieldman for Brewster Dairy and was a former Paint Township Trustee.
He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Brewster. He enjoyed auctions, collecting John Deere tractors, walking the farm, playing cards and being with family.
On April 30, 1949, he married Mary Louise Fladung. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Karen (Gerald) Lowe of Ashland, Cathie (Paul) Marthey of Apple Creek, Cindy (Jim) Chenevey of Wooster, and Connie (Tom) Johnson of Sandy Hook, Conn.; two sons, Jack (Jill) Rohr of Navarre and Joseph Rohr of Canton; nine grandchildren, Angie, Matt, Joe, Andrew, Ben, Lindsey, Justin, Graham, and Parker; two sisters, Arline Braucher and Beatrice Boyd, both of Massillon and four brothers, George Rohr of Massillon, Louis Rohr of North Canton, James Rohr of Holmesville and Daniel Rohr of Stanwood.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Maurice Rohr and a sister, Rita Schwartz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church in Brewster with Father Robert Kaylor officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Massillon.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m.
Ruth Boreman
FRESNO -- Robert Kaufman, 61, 31181 County Road 10, died Monday evening, Jan. 20, 2003, following an apparent heart attack.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grace Mennonite Church with the Revs. Levi Sommers and Gary Miller officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Grace Mennonite Church and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
He was born Dec. 12, 1941 in Holmes County to Mose A. and Mary J. (Miller) Kaufman and married Sarah Keim on Jan. 30, 1962. She survives.
He was a truck driver for many years and he enjoyed farming. He attended Grace Mennonite Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are seven children and their spouses, David and Marna Kaufman and Loretta and Mervin Miller, all of Fresno, Regina and Dale Miller of Sugarcreek, Mary and Lowell Miller of Adamsville, Larry and Kendra Kaufman of Berlin, Lisa and Randy Gingerich of Fresno and Rachelle Kaufman of the home; his parents of Walnut Creek; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Ivan Kaufman of Pittsburgh, Pa., Merlin Kaufman of Winfield and Paul Kaufman of Dundee and three sisters, Sue Detweiler of Walnut Creek, Marilyn Troyer of Berlin and Ruth Chupp of Walnut Creek.
Sarah Kearns
SUGARCREEK -- Sarah Mable Kearns, 91, formerly of Sugarcreek and a resident of Country Club Retirement Center in Dover since 1996, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Union Hospital in Dover, following a brief illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with the Rev. Ed Scaglonia officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-8 at the funeral home.
The family suggests the memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
She was born May 27, 1911 in Hoodsville, W.Va. to Ross and Laura Belle (Wright) Floyd.
She was a homemaker and was formerly employed at Beachy's Country Chalet in Sugarcreek. She attended the former Sugarcreek Church of God.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Pat) Troyer of Columbia, Mrs. Wayne (Sara) Kamban of Brightwood, Audrey Zahler of Dover, Mrs. John (Mary) Brink of West Lafayette, Mrs. William (Lovie) Jones of Chicago, Mrs. Manasses (Caroline) Troyer of Louisville and Mrs. Douglas (Sheila) McPeek of Dennison; a son, Chester (Sandy) Wenger of Strasburg; 32 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Three daughters, two sons and a sister, died previously.
Eva King
MILLERSBURG -- Eva B. King, 86, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Castle Nursing Home in Millersburg.
Memorial mass will be held at a later date at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in West Salem with the Rev. Carl Uhler officiating. Burial will be at Hazzard Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
She was born Nov. 11, 1916 in New Bedford, Mass. to Dennis and Marceline (Landry) Pidgeon.
She was a homemaker all of her life.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and John Cogan of West Salem; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cyril Moore
WOOSTER -- Cyril E. Moore, 86, of Wooster, died Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at his home, following a declining illness of cancer and heart disease.
Services will be held at Oak Grove Mennonite Church Friday at 11 a.m. with Norma Duerksen and Joel Short officiating. Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Wooster Cemetery prior to services.

He was born September 12, 1916 in Wooster Township to Andrew J. and Hazel J. (Sands) Moore and was a 1934 graduate of Wooster High School.
In 1938 he received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from Ohio State University. He taught vocational agriculture 10 years in Pickaway County and Shreve, resigning in 1953 to devote full time to his farming and Holstein herd.
Interrupting his teaching career, he served five years in the Army Air Corps as an administrative and training officer at Chanute Field, Ill., attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel at the close of World War II.
He was a 4-H adviser 10 years and a member of the Farm Bureau. In 1956 he was selected as field secretary with the Ohio Holstein Association and held that position for 10 years. He also served as farm manager with the Agricultural Technical Institute six years until his retirement in 1981. Several of his retirement years he was with LuK, Inc.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wooster, and has attended Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville, in recent years.
On August 2, 1938, he married Helen (Skinner) Moore who preceded him in death May 13, 1974. Surviving this union are four children, James D. Moore of Columbus, Carol E. Mehler of Arizona, Mary Lynn Epinosa and husband, Ray of Dayton and Linda A. Gray and husband, Jeffery of Loudonville; grandchildren, Travis, Anthony and Nicholas Moore, Micaela Vermillon, Jacob Espinosa; step-grandchildren are Barbara Nelms and Katlin and Jessie Gray.
January 24, 1976, he married Arlene (Smucker) Moore who survives and their daughter, Paula K. Vasichko and husband, Joseph of Wooster.
Also surviving are three sisters and a brother of Wooster, Katharine Irvin, Marian Wise, Harold Moore and sister, Betty Hall of Illinois.
Deceased are brothers, Andrew Moore Jr., Raymond Moore and a sister, Hazel June LoGuidice.
