Richard Humphrey
LAKEVILLE -- Richard D. "Slim" Humphrey, 77, 2492 State Route 179, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg.
He was born April 21, 1925, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Harlan D. and Martha J. (Reese) Humphrey.
He was a life-long farmer and an artificial inseminator with Curtiss Breeding Service for 25 years. Richard was a Lake Township Trustee for 20 years, a Shaklee Distributor for 20 years, and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Loudonville.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the 94th Infantry Division under General George Patton. He was wounded during combat and received the Purple Heart.
Richard belonged to the Richfield AMVETS Post 176, Jeromesville, American Legion Post 749, the 94th Infantry Division Association, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Jeromesville Coon Hunters Association and the National Farmers Organization. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending his grandchildren's sports and school activities.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Burbick Humphrey, to whom he was married August 15, 1948; one daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Randy Studer of Dunlap, Tennessee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ross and Karen Humphrey and Roger and Judi Humphrey, all of Lakeville; five grandchildren, Jason, Shane, Mandy, Abby and Dan Humphrey, and a brother, James Humphrey of Loudonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Robin in 1957 and a brother, Robert Humphrey.
Services will be Friday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Loudonville with the Rev. James G. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Wayne County.
Friends may call today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville or at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richfield AMVETS Post 176, P.O. Box 213, Richfield 44286 or Trinity United Church of Christ, 127 S. Union St., Loudonville 44842.

Henry Leitzel
ORRVILLE -- Henry C. Leitzel, 83, of Jerome Drive, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 18, 2003, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a ten-day illness.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Orrville with the Rev. Dennis Rinehart officiating.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-8 at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1556 Rex Drive, Orrville 44667.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1920 in China to Henry Samuel Howard Leitzel and Ruth (Rossiter) Leitzel Firestone. He married Charlotte Zema on June 26, 1943 in Boulder, Colo. She survives.
He lived in China until the age of 19, graduated from Allegheny College and served in the US Navy during World War II.
He worked for the Westinghouse Electrical Corporation in Pittsburgh and Orrville for 41 years, retiring in 1985 as an electrical engineer.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Cedar Lodge No. 430 F&AM, Exchange Club and the Zoning Board, all in Orrville. He was also a member of the Al Koran Shrine and the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, H. Calvin (Diane) Leitzel Jr. of Middleburg Heights; a daughter, Cynthia (David) Withrow of North Lawrence, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A brother, Richard Leitzel, died previously.

Elza Murphy
WOOSTER -- Elza E. Murphy, 85, of Wooster, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Horn Nursing Center.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
He was born July 25, 1917, in Barnesville to Elza and Mammie (McMurray) Murphy.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He moved to Wooster from Coshocton in 1960.
He worked as a surveyor for R.W. Gasbarre of Wooster and attended the Burbank Road Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise Harrison Murphy, whom he married June 7, 1941; sons, Roger L. Murphy of Apple Creek and Jerry H. Murphy of Wooster; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Margaret Blatter of Deland, Fla.
A son, Eric E., a brother, Kermit Murphy and a sister, Thelma Gillette, died previously.

Dolores Robinson
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Dolores Jean "Jeanie" Robinson of Lehigh Acres, passed away at Hope Hospice on Monday, February 17, 2003. She moved to Lehigh Acres in 1985 after living in Rittman for several years.
She was born in Kenova, West Virginia in 1937.
Ms. Robinson was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 2000 and daughter, Lee Ann Ford in 1997.
She is survived by son, Paul David and wife, Tina, and their daughter, Sarah. Also surviving is son, Brian and his wife, Jane, and their son, Mike, as well as grandson Christopher Damron, all of Georgia. Sister, Margaret Gascon and uncle, George Gerald Harte, both of Lehigh Acres, Florida, as well as a large extended family. She is loved by many relatives and friends.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lehigh. She had retired from Lee County in 1997.
A funeral service in celebration of Ms. Robinson's life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home, 12777 State Road 82.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her loving memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6038, Fort Myers, Florida 33911-6038.

Richard Walton Jr.
WOOSTER -- Richard H. Walton Jr., 46, of Wooster, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Samaritan Regional Health Center in Ashland.
There will be no services.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
He was born Feb. 1, 1957 in Millersburg to Richard H. Sr. and Sandra (Yockey) Walton.
He was a 1975 graduate of Waynedale High School and had worked as a newspaper distributor for over 15 years.
Surviving are his father of Texas; his mother of Wooster; a son, Scott Walton of Wooster; sisters, Alice (Doug) Martin of Holmesville, Tanya (Wayne) Hughes of Fresno and Donna (Eric) Munoz of Cleveland.

Carol Wood
WOOSTER -- Carol Lee Wood, 61, 4110 E. Smithville Western Road, and longtime resident of Burton City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Smithville-Western Care Center.
A Memorial Service will be Friday at 5 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel with the Rev. William H. Valentine officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She was born August 23, 1941 in Greene County, Pennsylvania to Charles and Hazel (Hamilton) Morris. She married Romeo Wood on September 3, 1966. He died in 1989.
She was a graduate of Wooster High School and Wooster Business College in 1990 with honors.
She touched a lot of lives in the nursing home and enjoyed writing poetry and short stories. She had a great sense of humor.
She was a member of the Burton City United Methodist Church, and was secretary of Parent Teacher Association Orrville Public School District. She was a gardener and enjoyed baking and loved many types of music.
Surviving is a daughter, Vikki Wood of Orrville; a granddaughter, Amanda Selby of Canton; a brother, Samuel (Mary) Morris of Kansas City, Kansas and sisters, Delyte Morris of Cedarville, Linda (Dana) Taylor of Wooster and Barbara (Kenneth) Lett of Loudonville.

Lizzie Yoder
MILLERSBURG -- Lizzie M. Yoder, 82, 2106 County Road 600, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at her home after a brief illness.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Delbert Erb officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.
She was born in Holmes County to Mose J.S. and Katie (Troyer) Yoder and married Sam C. Yoder on Nov. 23, 1944. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are children, Crist (Susie) Yoder, Phineas (Barbara) Yoder, Esther (Jacob) Miller, Mary (Noah) Troyer and Ruth Ann (Dan) Yoder, all of Millersburg and Betty (Melvin) Nisley of Baltic; 29 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe (Kathryn) Yoder of Sugarcreek; and sisters, Emma Yoder Hochstetler of Millersburg and Mary (Mose M.C.) Yoder of Fresno.
Two brothers and a sister died previously.

Maxine Gilson
WOOSTER -- Maxine M. Gilson, 86, of Wooster, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Horn Nursing Center.
Memorial services will be Saturday at noon at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to time of service at the church on Saturday.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster 44691 or the Wayne County Humane Society, P.O. Box 266, Wooster 44691.
Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.
She was born Nov. 14, 1916 in Walbridge to George and Katherine (Winter) Suter.
She was a graduate of Bowling Green State University.
She moved to Wooster in 1946 from Walbridge and had taught business at Triway High School for 13 years and had taught in Hancock County for two years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, William B. Gilson, whom she married Dec. 26, 1941; a son, John "Jack" A. Gilson of Fayetteville, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy E. (Loren) Braverman of Bexley; four granddaughters and a sister, Wanda Wilson of Gross Pointe, Mich.
Her brothers, John Suter and George Suter Jr. and a sister, Helen Beckman, died previously.

Donald Hartman
DOYLESTOWN -- Donald K. Hartman, 86, of Doylestown, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Barberton Citizens Hospital, following a short illness.
Memorial service will be Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Anthony L. Dusso officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 65 W. Clinton St., Doylestown 44230.
He was born Feb. 13, 1917 in Barberton to Clinton S. and Martha (Johnson) Hartman and married Ruth Sulzbach on Oct. 25, 1941. She survives.
He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.
He was a resident of Doylestown and member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He retired from Chippewa Local Schools with eight years of service as a maintenance worker. He was a former co-owner of H & S Sunoco for 22 years.
He was a life member of the Doylestown American Legion, member of Wadsworth Lodge No. 385 F&AM and enjoyed being with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Don Hartman of Wadsworth, Karen Cutshall of Doylestown, Dennis (Carol) Hartman of Wadsworth and Marcia (Tom) Barnes of Doylestown; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Twelve brothers and sisters died previously.

Keith Haynes
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Keith Haynes, 58, of Guava Road, Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly Rittman and Doylestown, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach., Fla.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens in Edgewater, Fla.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-9 at the Dudley Funeral Home, 1108 N. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
He was born June 4, 1944, in Newton Falls to George and Gladys (Mobley) Haynes and married Theresa L. Urbanek. She survives.
He had made his home in Rittman most of his life and had moved to New Smyrna Beach, Fla. in 1990 from Doylestown. He then moved to Dayton Beach, Fla. five years ago.
He had worked for City of Rittman (street department) and was a construction warranty inspector for Intervest Construction, Inc., Daytona Beach, Fla. before his illness.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Rick (Bobbi) Haynes of Edgewater, Fla., Scott (Karen) Haynes of Cuyahoga Falls and Denise (Larry) Dixon of Fort Bragg, N.C.; two granddaughters; his mother of Rittman; two brothers, Fred (Elaine) Haynes and Walter (Pam) Haynes, both of Rittman and a sister, Donna Lanning of Rittman.
His father died previously.

Anna McCarter
WOOSTER -- Anna L. McCarter, 81, of Wooster, formerly of Aurora, Ind., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster.
Services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Aurora, Ind., where friends may call Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at the church. Pastor Frank Forthman will officiate.
Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 345 N. Market St., Wooster 44691.
She was born in Aurora, Ind., to Jesse and Grace (King) Klueber and married Robert O. McCarter on April 26, 1947. He who survives.
She had lived most of her life in Aurora, Ind., where she was an elementary school teacher at Aurora Elementary School. She retired in 1980, after 30 years of teaching. In 2002, she moved to Wooster.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Aurora, Ind., Indiana State Retired Teachers Association, Phi Beta Si Sorority, Navy Silver Eagles and the Thirty-Niners Club of Aurora.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are sons, Michael (Tort) McCarter of Leucadia, Calif., and Dennis (Jeanne) McCarter of Wooster; grandchildren, Jess, Maren, Michele, Robert, Caely and Eric McCarter; sisters, Geneva (Albert) Porter of Aurora, Ind., and Alleen (Donald) Rullman of Greenfield, Ind.; and a brother, Leslie Klueber of Aurora, Ind.
