ORRVILLE -- Gladys E. Dennis, 88, 163 S. Sunset, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at West View Manor in Wooster.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. Ray Pfahler officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born June 29, 1914 in Orrville to Justin and Alpha (Chapman) Caillet and married Wilmer L. Dennis on June 14, 1941. He survives.
She had been a resident of Newman and Marshallville before moving to Orrville.
She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Orrville.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Bonnie Dennis of Orrville; two sons, Lloyd (Mary) Dennis of Springfield, Tenn. and Richard (Bonnie) Dennis of Massillon; five grandchildren and a sister, Alpha Converse of California.
Five brothers and seven sisters died previously.
John Ellis
WOOSTER -- John Douglas Ellis, 67, of Hancock St., died Friday, March 28, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel with the Rev. William Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born April 17, 1935 in Prichard, W.Va. to John W. and Maggie (VanHoose) Ellis. He married Anna Cowger on December 24, 1958. She survives.
He retired from The Gerstenslager Co. after 32 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Sandy (Mike) Daye of Wooster; grandsons, Michael and Brett Daye; brothers, Robert Ellis of Nashville and Henry Ellis of New Castle, Ind. and sisters, Joyce (Charles) Acord and Charlee (Daniel) Carpenter, all of Rittman.
His parents, brothers, William Roy and Fleary A. Ellis and a sister, Faye Swathwood, died previously.
William Myers
WAYNESBURG -- William S. "Bill" Myers, 72, of Waynesburg, passed away Thursday evening, March 27, 2003, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Little Country Church with the Revs. Terry Strivers and Dale Boston officiating. Burial will be at Sandy Valley Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born in New Martinsville, W.Va. to John and Julia (Cain) Myers.
He had been a Waynesburg resident since 1950 and retired in 1990 from Acme Clay Products, Inc., after 31 years service as a truck driver.
He was a member of the Fellowship of the Little Country Church where he served as an usher for 20 years, was a lifetime trustee, an Elder and was on the Fellowship Committee. He was also a member of the Downtown YMCA.
Surviving are his wife, Donna J. (Bitzel) Myers, with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2002; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Marion Hochstetler Sr. of Orrville and Sherri and James "Skip" Anderson of Canton; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Carrie (Mutigli) Myers of Malvern; six grandchildren; two sisters, Tillie Hawkins and Sue Wilson, both of Malvern and a brother and sister-in-law, John "Bob" and Libby Myers of East Canton.
A sister, Clara Jenkins and a brother, David Myers, died previously.
Florence Popp
LEXINGTON -- Florence Popp, 86, of Lexington, died Thursday afternoon, March 27, 2003, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, following a short illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Snyder
Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Ave., Mansfield with Pastor Jack Sharp and the Rev. Cloyd Kress officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Memorial Park.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 2, 1916 in Armstrong County, Pa. to Samuel and Minnie (Hankey) Rowley.
She graduated from Elderton (Pa.) High School and earned her teacher's certificate from Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, Pa. and began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Plum Creek Township, Armstrong County, Pa. She later completed her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Ashland University in 1957 and completed her 32-year career, retiring in 1980 from Mansfield City Schools with 23 years of service.
She moved to the Mansfield area in 1954 from Trumbull County.
She was a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, Florence had formerly served the church as elder and choir member. She loved to sing and play the piano.
She was a 30-year member of the Mansfield Choral Society. She was also a member of the Kings Corners Everthoughtful Club, the Richland County Farm Bureau, and the Farm Bureau Women.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn S. and Michael Krotz of Columbus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald J. and Patricia Popp of Doylestown and Dr. James A. and Jean Popp of Morgantown, Pa.; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband, John Popp died on Jan. 24, 1987 and two sisters and two brothers, also died previously.
Jesse Varner
SHREVE -- Jesse M. Varner, 87, 8295 S. Funk Road, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve with the Rev. Bill Lawson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born March 23, 1916 in Oakwood to William Clifford and Fannie E. (Bidlack) Lloyd and married Virgil O. Varner on April 10, 1938. He died Oct. 30, 1996.
She along with her husband farmed most of her life, did bookkeeping for their gas station and managed their apartment properties.
She was a member of the Shreve United Methodist Church.
Surviving are six children, Harry (Judy) Varner of Shreve, Hazel (Del) Nirode of Oak Creek, Wis., Harvey (Kathy) Varner of Wooster, Hattie (Larry) McConkle of Mansfield, Hugh (Cathy) Varner of Wooster and Helen (John) Fravel of Boxford, Mass.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Gale Lloyd of Stryker.
In addition to her husband, a son, Henry Varner, a daughter, Hilda Mae Wachtel, infant twins, Hope and Honey, a sister, Grace Bingman and a brother, Leo Lloyd, died previously.
Audrey Widener
MILLERSBURG -- Audrey Edythe Reed Widener, 87, of Millersburg, died Friday morning, March 28, 2003, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, following a short illness.
Private graveside services will be at the Killbuck Cemetery with pastor John Wanamaker officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling the arrangements.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Holmes Athletic Department, 10909 State Route 39, Millersburg 44654.
She was born August 16, 1915 in Killbuck Township and was the daughter of Roy H. and Mabel (Lewis) Ling. On December 28, 1932 she married Harold "Dick" Reed and he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1956. On December 31, 1960 she married Harold Widener and he died July 7, 1986.
She leaves three granddaughters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) McVicker Jr., Mrs. Kenneth (Pamela) Bromund, and Mrs. Ronald (Paula) Starner, all of Millersburg; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn (Reed) Bryan, son-in-law, W. Dayle Bryan, her parents, a brother, Clyde Ling and a sister, Rema Croskey.
Cherie Workman
MASSILLON -- Cherie S. Workman, 58, of Massillon and formerly of Rittman, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Massillon Community Hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon with Fr. Edward Gretchko officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Meals on Wheels.
Arrangements are being handled by Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
She was born June 20, 1944 in Wadsworth to Lester and Helen (Csuhta) Workman.
She had been employed as a secretary at the R.C. Can Corp.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon. She enjoyed her grandchildren, playing cards and watching comedies on television.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jeffrey Weber of Massillon; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Tawnya Krahenbuhl of Rittman; seven grandchildren; sisters, Lois Lustig of Massillon, Mary Henegar of Doylestown and Barbara Howe of Thornville and brothers, Bill Workman of Rittman and Louie Workman of Wadsworth.
Her parents and a brother, John Workman, died previously.
Roy Bower
WOOSTER -- Roy Daniel Bower, 69, of Wooster, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Friends will be received at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, Monday from 5-9 p.m.
Services will be held at Emanuel United Church of Christ, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bob Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Born March 5, 1934 in Chester Township, he was the son of Charles Orlan and Elizabeth B. (Imhoff) Bower.
He was chief financial officer for Peoples Federal Savings & Loan (now FirstMerit) working over 37 years. He was a Realtor with M.D. Hershberger Realty since January 1994.
He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, a former board member of Northwestern School District for 12 years and former treasurer of West View Manor for 32 years.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Marie (Tope) Bower of Wooster; sons, Jeffrey (Cindy) Lee Bower, Terry (Pat) Lee Bower, Dana (Rhonda) Lee Bower, all of Wooster; a brother, Glenn Robert Bower of Big Prairie; a sister, Beulah E. Bowman of West Salem and grandchildren, Eric, Kyle, Brooke, Paige, Cody, Garrett, Justin and Travis Bower.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy A. (Shammo) Bower on May 1, 1985, and brothers, Lester Orlan and Dana Lee Bower.

DALTON -- Melissa M. (Henning) Greegor, 40, of Dalton, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Dalton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Virginia Birks officiating. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

She was born Dec. 21, 1962, in Massillon to Lynn E. and Carol Ann "Pat" (Lowery) Henning. She was a life resident of Dalton, a 1981 graduate of Dalton High School and member of Dalton Presbyterian Church.
She was employed by Purcell Fertilizer.
She is survived by son, Justin R. Greegor and a daughter, Brittany N. Greegor, both of Dalton; her father, Lynn E. Henning of Dalton; brothers, Charles (Teresa) Henning of Dalton, Rick (Valerie) Henning of Wheaton, Ill. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her mother, Carol Ann "Pat" Henning, died in 1994.
Maybelle Strickland
WOOSTER-- Maybelle M. Strickland, 66, of Wooster, died Saturday morning, March 29, 2003, at Akron General Medical Center.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Bret Deffenbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Westfield Center Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 17, 1936, in Creston to Ora H. and Mary Katherine (Kollert) Kollert.
She was a 1954 graduate of Norwayne High School.
She had worked at Yoder's Greenhouse and had done home care and cleaning for elderly area residents.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rittman.
Surviving are a son, Carroll Dean Parsons of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Parsons of Norton; beloved granddaughter, Carly Marie Parsons of Norton; three sisters, Beverly (Howard) Artrip of Wooster, Elaine Artrip of Lillian, Ala. and Linda (Robert) Gray of Wooster; three brothers, Harold (Patricia) Kollert of Creston, Donald Kollert of Rittman and Bernard "Dick" Kollert of Holmesville and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, William D. Parsons, in 1999.
