Ashton Hall
RITTMAN -- Ashton O. Hall, 88, of Rittman, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Milton Presbyterian Church in Rittman, with the Rev. James E. Watt officiating. Private burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends will be received today (Monday) from 4-7 at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, or one hour prior to the services at the church.

He was born May 4, 1914, in Youngstown to Rex and Elsie (Tribby) Hall and married Vi Woodford on March 10, 1946. She survives.
He was a graduate of Brookfield High School and Kent State University, where he had done his graduate studies. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he had served in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Normandy and Central European campaigns. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and European African Middle Eastern medal with five battle stars.
He had made his home in Rittman since 1940, and was a teacher and coach at Rittman High School for 40 years. He was inducted into the Wayne County Sports Hall of Fame, Pennsylvania-Ohio Baseball Hall of Fame, Wall of Fame in the Rittman School System and Wayne County Officials Hall of Fame.
He had served six years on city council and 24 years as mayor of Rittman. While serving as mayor, he organized a volunteer group of drivers to take people to area hospitals and other medical appointments. He was instrumental in getting the Adult Basic Education Program started where students could obtain their GED certificate.
He was a 50-year member of Milton Presbyterian Church, a member of Hartford Masonic Lodge and served on the Wayne County Library Board. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Daryl (Maureen) Hall of Mansfield and Cherie Hall of Rittman; grandchildren, Brian Hall and Laura Hall; brothers, Carl (Laverne) Hall of Philadelphia, Dale Hall of Youngstown and Paul (Helen) Hall of Boynton Beach, Fla..; and sisters, Edna Barber of Masury, Ada Messmer of Sharon, Pa., and Doris Hutchison of Brookfield.
Jack McMullin
APPLE CREEK -- Jack E. McMullin, 72, of Apple Creek, died Friday evening, March 28, 2003.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Berlin Christian Fellowship, with Pastors James Yoder and David Parker officiating. Burial will be at Kidron Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, or one hour prior to the services at the church.

He was born March 5, 1931, in Akron to Edward and Marie (Swords) McMullin. He attended Akron East High School and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.
He had lived in Wayne County for 25 years and had worked in data processing and teaching and later in sales at Sears and Freedlander's in Wooster. He was a portrait artist and caricaturist.
He was a member of Berlin Christian Fellowship and had a deep love for God, family, children and animals.
Surviving are his wife, Pamela J. (Amstutz) McMullin, whom he married Aug. 10, 1980; children, Colleen Louise (Michael) Lawrence of Great Falls, Mont., Melody (Eric) Middendorf of Fairlawn, Jackie (David) Parker of Akron, Erin (Rob) Turner of Olympia, Wash., and Shawn (Lora) McMullin of Wooster; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His parents, a brother, Clifford McMullin and a sister, Beverly McMullin, died previously.
Maybelle Strickland
WOOSTER-- Maybelle M. Strickland, 66, of Wooster, died Saturday morning, March 29, 2003, at Akron General Medical Center.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Bret Deffenbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Westfield Center Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
She was born Nov. 17, 1936, in Creston to Ora H. and Mary Katherine (Kollert) Kollert.
She was a 1954 graduate of Norwayne High School.
She had worked at Yoder's Greenhouse and had done home care and cleaning for elderly area residents.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rittman.
Surviving are a son, Carroll Dean Parsons of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Parsons of Norton; beloved granddaughter, Carly Marie Parsons of Norton; three sisters, Beverly (Howard) Artrip of Wooster, Elaine Artrip of Lillian, Ala. and Linda (Robert) Gray of Wooster; three brothers, Harold (Patricia) Kollert of Creston, Donald Kollert of Rittman and Bernard "Dick" Kollert of Holmesville and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, William D. Parsons, in 1999.
Brian Miller
MILLERSBURG -- Brian D. Miller, 11-week-old son of David and Mary (Kline) Miller, 4171 County Road 70, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at his home. He had been ill since birth on Jan. 11, 2003.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Henry B. Yoder residence, 4220 County Road 70, Millersburg, with Bishop Andy M. Hershberger officiating. Burial will be at the Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime prior to the services at the Yoder residence. Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling arrangements.
Surviving are his parents, members of the Old Order Amish Church; brothers, Duane and Vernon and sisters, Marlene, Esther and Miriam, all of the home; maternal grandparents, Vernon and Amanda Kline of Millersburg; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Edna Miller of Baltic; maternal great-grandparents, Alvin and Mary Ann Kline of Millersburg; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
John Millhoan
DELAWARE -- John H. Millhoan, 78, of Delaware, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
He was the father and father-in-law of Dexter and Carol Millhoan of Wooster.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., Delaware. Burial will be at Green Mound Cemetery, Kilbourne, where military rites will be conducted by Delaware County Veterans Association.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Delaware County to William and Mary (Sartwell) Millhoan and married Wilma Bell. She survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, fighting in the Battle of Normandy and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal.
He retired from Xenia Post Office, where he was a letter carrier for 30 years and was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers. After returning to Delaware in 1990, he worked for the Delaware County Agricultural Society.
He was a life member of Beavercreek Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8312, a past commander of Xenia VFW 2402 and past commander of Delaware VFW Reed Miller Post 3297. He was active with Disabled American Veterans.
Other survivors include another son, David (Kimberla) Millhoan of Jamestown; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Judith North
ORRVILLE -- Judith E. "Judi" (Zekas) North, 49, 620 W. Oak St., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2003, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer for eight months.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with Pastors John Miller and Les Miller officiating. Burial will be at Geyers Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born Feb. 13, 1954, in Stutgart, Germany to Victor and Darlene R. (Johnson) Zekas. She was a resident of Orrville for more than 32 years, moving from Honolulu, Hawaii in 1971, where she had resided for several years. She earned her associate degree from Wayne College in 1982, and worked at Praxair in Wooster for 16 years as an administrative specialist.
Judi was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Orrville, where she loved going to church, her spiritual journey with God and worship music. She loved to travel, her family, relaxation techniques and deeply loved her Lord.
She deeply loved her husband, Eddy L. North, whom she married March 5, 1996, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. He survives.
Other survivors include children, Aaron L. Zekas, Ryan E. Bratcher, Stephanie Hale and Angela Fiscus, all of Orrville and Heather (Eric) Loew of Canton; grandchildren, Logan and Asthlen Hale, Alexis and Austin Fiscus; her parents of Houston, Texas; and brothers, Col. William (Catherine) Zekas of Brussels, Belgium, James (Janet) Zekas of Big Sur, Calif., and Michael Zekas of San Diego, Calif.
Her grandparents, Leo and Geneva Johnson and Julius and Mary Zekas, died previously.
Kathryn Stoddard
COSHOCTON -- Kathryn L. (Smail) Stoddard, 63, of Coshocton, died Thursday evening, March 27, 2003, at her home after an apparent heart attack.
She was the sister of Marlene (Smail) Gooding of Millersburg.
Services will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. John Damron officiating.
Friends may call two hours prior to the services.
The family suggests contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Oct. 3, 1939, in Millersburg to Frank and Mattie (Hathaway) Smail.
She had worked for 10 years at Ansell Edmont Industrials Inc. of Coshocton and was a member of Coshocton Moose, Eagles and Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving in addition to her sister, are a daughter, Joanna Miller of Ash, N.C.; three grandchildren; and brothers, Glenn Smail of Navarre and Ernest "Bud" Smail of Tampa, Fla.
Robert Wittel
DANVILLE -- Robert E. Wittel, 62, of Wooster Road, died early Sunday morning, March 30, 2003, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital after a long illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at North Bend Church of the Brethren, North Bend Road, Danville, with the Rev. Patrick Bailey officiating. Burial will be at North Bend Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville.
He was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Ashland to Junior Leedy and Ellen (Harry) Wittel and married Mary Jo Conrad on Nov. 25, 1966. She survives.
He was a 1958 graduate of Madison High School, Mount Vernon Joint Vocational School's licensed practical nurse program and Marion Technical College, with a degree as a registered nurse.
He was a registered nurse at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, Kettering Hospital in Loudonville, Lexington Court Nursing Home, Country Court Nursing Home, Mount Vernon Nursing Home and Colonial Manor Health Care Center in Loudonville.
He grew up and farmed in the Mansfield area, living in Lucas and the Jelloway/Danville area.
He was a member of North Bend Church of the Brethren, served 21 years as a 4-H adviser in Lucas and Jelloway, and was a Youth Group Leader for 15 years at Jelloway United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Kenny (Kathy) Wittel and Katrina (Dan) Truax, both of Loudonville, Karl (Tory) Wittel of Edison, Kevin Wittel and Kyle Wittel, both of Danville; six grandchildren; his mother of Dayton; a sister, Charlotte (John) Dicks of Dayton; and a brother, David Wittel of Mansfield.
His father died previously.
