SHREVE -- Merl B. Barnhart, 73, of Shreve, formerly of Lodi, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, at his home. There will be no services. Burial will be at Fallsburg Cemetery. Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi is handling arrangements. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Susan Haley of Fallsburg and Merl Barnhart Jr. of Lodi; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Hazel Phillips of Newark.

Helen Ely
MILLERSBURG -- Helen K. Ely, 86, of Millersburg, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, at her home. Private services will be Saturday at Zion United Church of Christ in New Bedford, with the Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ. Surviving are sisters, Margaret Miller of Millersburg and Oceal Stein of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.

WOOSTER -- Edward F. Marentette, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster. Committal services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home, Wooster. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Joyce Melbourne of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Guy Marentette of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Mrs. Donald (Gail) Frangos of Wooster and Paula Marentette of North Royalton; and two grandchildren.

LODI -- Bernice I. Miller, 81, of Lodi, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at Lodi Community Hospital, after a sudden illness. Services will be Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, with the Rev. Marta Mathatas officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Lodi Community Hospital, 225 Elyria St., Lodi 44254; or to Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 266, West Salem 44287. CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Edwin J. Cantleberry, 75, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church, 1601 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, with the Rev. Tom Webb officiating. Burial will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home, 247 Stow Ave., Cuyahoga Falls. Surviving are children, Janet Mark of Cuyahoga Falls and James Edwin of Huron; grandchildren, Amy, Jacob, Nathan and Aaron; a sister, Vivian Gindlesberger of Wooster; and brothers, William Cantleberry of Wooster and Lee Cantleberry of Brooklyn, Ohio. His wife, Lillian Cantleberry, died in 1992.

LODI -- Ralph W. "Peeler" Miller, 86, of Lodi, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Medina General Hospital. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 7-9 at the funeral home. Surviving are a daughter, Gwenivere 'Gweni Palmer of Lodi; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Roman Wengerd
MILLERSBURG -- Roman L. Wengerd, 81, of Millersburg, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 17, 1998, at Cleveland Clinic, after an apparent heart attack. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Berlin Christian Fellowship Church, with the Rev. Michael Wengerd officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-9 at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Berlin Christian Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 396, Berlin 44610. Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Wengerd) Wengerd, whom he married Dec. 21, 1941; a daughter, Norene McDowell of Millersburg; a grandson and wife, Kurt and Stacie McDowell of Millersburg and a granddaughter, Karla McDowell of Long Beach, Calif.; three special great-granddaughters, Megan, Morgan and Markie McDowell; brothers, Monroe Wengerd of Massillon, Henry Wengerd of Canton and Eli Wengerd of Sebring, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Joe (Ada) Wade of Massillon.

CRESTON -- Ivan C. Chaffin, 84, of Wooster Pike, Creston, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 18, 1998, at Glendora Health Care Center after a period of declining health. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Donald Kuntz officiating. Burial will be at Maple Mound Cemetery. MASSILLON -- Ralph G. Warner Sr., 82, of Massillon, formerly of Orrville, died Monday, Feb. 16, at Massillon Community Hospital. His body has been cremated. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. Dr. Edwin J. Dykstra officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. RITTMAN -- Walter R. Noble, 89, 277 W. Sunset Drive, died Thursday morning, Feb. 19, at Rittman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Robert Lang officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery, Winesburg. LADY LAKE, Fla. -- Warren E. Sword, 78, of Lady Lake, Fla. and formerly of Wilmot, died Friday morning, Feb. 20, in Shands University Hospital of Florida in Gainsville, following a brief illness.
