Mildred Sutherland
MILLERSBURG -- Mildred B. Sutherland, 91, of Millersburg, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 4, 1999, at Sunset View Nursing Home in Millersburg, after an extended illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Wendell Beal officiating. Burial will be at Wolf Creek Cemetery, Killbuck.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 17, 1908 near Glenmont in Holmes County, to John and Delpha Marcella (Williams) Shank and married Kenneth Richard Sutherland. He died previously.
Surviving are children, Juanita J. Chaney and Richard D. Sutherland, both of Millersburg, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

'Dick' Vodika Sr.
ORRVILLE -- Richard J. "Dick" Vodika Sr., 72, 1834 Meadow Lane, died Thursday morning, Sept. 2, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a long illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Orrville Grace Brethren Church in Orrville, with Pastor Dan Najimian officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, where military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Orrville Grace Brethren Church, 2200 Paradise Road, Orrville 44667.
He was born May 2, 1927 in Cleveland to Joseph and Mary (Zajac) Vodika and married May E. Metsker on Dec. 11, 1948 in Cleveland. She survives.
Other survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph R. Vodika of Spokane, Wash., Dave M. and Stevie Vodika of Orrville, Richard J. "Rick" Vodika Jr. of Sterling and Jim L. and Susan Vodika of Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jason, Tina, Justin, Trey, Michael, Jody and Leah Vodika, all of Orrville, Jennifer Vodika of Nevada, and Stephanie Brady of Arizona; great-granddaughters, Natalie Carol Vodika of Orrville and Mercedes Hernandez of Arizona; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Pat Vodika of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a sister, Josephine Kohut of Las Vegas, Nev.

Leora Zody
PERRYSVILLE -- Leora J. Zody, 82, 950 State Route 95, died Thursday morning, Sept. 2, 1999, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, after a long illness.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Lor Breyley officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 176, Perrysville 44864.
She was born Nov. 17, 1916 in Knox County to Walter and Mildred (Miller) Gessling and married Cooney Zody on April 8, 1939. He died July 20, 1999.
Surviving are daughters, Connie Kittle of Wooster and Linda Zody and her friend, Bruce Eich, of Perrysville; grandchildren, Lori Kittle of Columbus, Bryan Sprang of Akron and Terri Sprang of Lexington; a brother, Morris Gessling of Columbus; sisters, Marian Edgar of Mansfield, Donna Yanosheck of Columbus and Jean Holt of Brinkhaven; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Gessling of Mansfield.

John Vasichko
WOOSTER -- John J. Vasichko, 85, of Wooster, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at West View Manor Nursing Center, Wooster.
Local private family services will be held at a later date. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery in Columbus. Father Edward F. Trenor will officiate.
Friends may call a half-hour prior to the Mass at the Chapel.
Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home, Wooster.
He was born March 5, 1914 in Streator, Ill., to Lucas and Anna (Bereznak) Vasichko and married Louise C. Shust on Oct. 12, 1940 in Kentucky. She died in September 1988.
Surviving are a son, John D. Vasichko and his wife, Mary J., of Wooster; a son-in-law, Donald W. Loos of Columbus; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Vasichko of LaMarque, Texas; and sisters, Mary Fialko, Irene Salz and Frances Wiggett, all of Streator, Ill.

Levi Raber
BALTIC -- Levi Y. Raber, 81, 33578 Township Road 231, died Thursday morning, Sept. 2, 1999, at his home after a brief illness.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Andy E. Yoder officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Crawford Township, Coshocton County.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.
He was born Feb. 21, 1918 in Holmes County to Jonathan and Fannie (Yoder) Raber and married Amanda Troyer. She died May 28, 1976.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Katie and Mose D. Miller and Lizzie L. Raber, all of the home, Jonathan and Katie Raber of Bellville, Alvin and Mary Raber and Crist and Ida Raber, all of Fresno and Noah and Ada Raber of Mount Hope; 32 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry J. Raber of Greenwich; and sisters, Mrs. Eli (Katie) Schlabach and Mary Raber, both of Lakeville and Mrs. Abe L. (Fannie) Miller of Baltic.

Mattie Miller
BALTIC -- Mattie Miller, 84, 2382 County Road 114, died this morning, Sept. 3, 1999, at her home after an extended illness.
Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Neal C. Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.
She was born April 21, 1914 to Christian A. and Mattie (Miller) Raber and married Moses A. Miller on March 23, 1939. He survives.
Other survivors include children and their spouses, Henry M. and Amanda Miller of Millersburg, Noah M.A. and Lydia Ann Miller and Sarah and Ben L. Miller, all of Sugarcreek, Christ M.A. and Sara Miller and Mary M. Miller, all of the home, Katie and Roman S. Schlabach and Anna and Peter A. Miller, all of Baltic; 37 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Raymond S. (Mary) Miller of Mount Hope; and brothers, Christ C. Raber of Hazelton, Iowa, and Noah C. Raber of Randolph, N.Y.

F. Sue Phillips
WOOSTER -- F. Sue Phillips, 56, 1676 Sylvan Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at her home.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Jim Watt officiating.
The family will receive friends following the services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born April 12, 1943 in Apple Creek to Clarence Dean and Bertha Rozella (Stocker) Finley and married Robert Phillips on Aug. 30, 1961. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Andrea Starkey and her husband, Michael, of Wooster; brothers, Thomas Dean Finley of Doylestown, Gerald and Ronald Gene Finley, both of Moreland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Melody Thomas
WOOSTER -- Melody Keatley Thomas, 44, of West Liberty Street, died Thursday morning, Sept. 2, 1999, at the Cleveland Clinic from complications with leukemia.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Jerry Niswander officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
There will be no calling hours. Murray Funeral Home in Creston, is handling arrangements.
Friends who wish may make contributions to Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston 44217, to help defray expenses.
Surviving are children, Jamie Thomas of Jeromesville, Jeremiah Thomas of Wooster and Chasity Banda of Oklahoma; a grandson; her mother of Wooster, a sister, Tammy Seamens of Wooster; brothers, Timothy Keatley and John Keatley Jr., both of North Carolina; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

James Showers
SUGARCREEK -- James R. Showers, 72, 324 W. Main St., died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Union Hospital, after an apparent heart attack.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Carlan Helgeson officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sugarcreek, where military rites will be conducted by the Sugarcreek American Legion.
Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1926 in Santoy to Denzil and Miriah (Hodgson) Showers and married Shirley Lahm on Nov. 9, 1945. She survives.
Other survivors include sons and their wives, Rod and Beth Showers of Dover and Mitch and Anita Showers of Dundee; four grandchildren; brothers, Harlan Showers of Galena, David Showers of Richville and Harvey Showers of Sugarcreek; and a sister, Mrs. Dale (Molly) Rehard of Okemos, Mich.

F. Sue Phillips
WOOSTER -- F. Sue Phillips, 56, 1676 Sylvan Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at her home.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Jim Watt officiating.

WOOSTER -- Donald Ray Street Sr., 57, 4209 Sylvan Rd., died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Private family services will be held. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, is handling arrangements.
Those who wish may make contributions to Wayne-Holmes Diabetes Association, 2713 Congress Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Feb. 18, 1942 in Buchanan, Va., to Sam Porter and Violet (Harp) Street and married Linda Franks on June 11, 1971. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Donald R. Street Jr. and his wife, Vicki, of Wooster, and Debbie Street and her companion, Lance Mann, of Nashville; two grandchildren; his mother, Violet Street Johnson of Grundy, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Arnold (Edna) McClanahan of Grundy, Va.; and brothers, Homer Street of Smith Station, Ala., and Louis Street of San Diego.

Margaret O'Brien
RITTMAN -- Margaret Marie O'Brien, 71, of Rittman, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at her residence.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Hillcrest Chapel, Wadsworth, with the Rev. Paul D. Fink officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court St., Medina 44256.
She was born Aug. 4, 1928 in Sherman. Her father was James Kunstek and on Aug. 10, 1978, married Harry O'Brien. He survives.
Other survivors include stepdaughters, Lynn Herman and her husband, Dale, and Patricia Jo O'Brien; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nephews, James Kunstek and Jim Mullet.

Maude Hochstetler
DRESDEN -- Maude L. Hochstetler, 96, of Dresden, formerly of Wooster and Canton, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Vensil & Orr Funeral Home, 714 Main St., Dresden. Burial will be at Dresden Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dresden United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 111, Dresden 43821.
Surviving are a son, Blaine L. Hochstetler of Duncan Falls; and a granddaughter.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Berlin Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Ernie Hershberger officiating. Burial will be at Berlin Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the church, or one hour prior to the services.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654.
He was born May 1, 1944 in Baltic to Moses J. and Lydiann (Stutzman) Nisley and married Susie Raber on March 21, 1968. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Pam and Mark, both of the home and Tim Nisley of Columbus; a sister, Edna Nisley of Baltic; and brothers, Andrew Nisley of Florida, Moses Nisley Jr. of Winesburg, Vernon Nisley of Fredericksburg and Roman Nisley of New Philadelphia.
