SUGARCREEK -- Eli A. Mast, 85, 2435 Township Road 421, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at his home. Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Henry C. Beachy officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery, Walnut Creek Township. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling arrangements. He was born June 15, 1914 in Holmes County to Amos J. and Emma (Raber) Mast and married Anna Miller on Feb. 10, 1938. She survives. Other survivors include children and their spouses, Roy E. and Malinda Mast, Paul E. and Naomi Mast and Eli and Arie Mast Jr., all of Sugarcreek, Melvin E. and Ruth Mast and Mary and Moses Miller, all of Crossville, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy A. Mast of Berlin.

Pearl Smith
MILLERSBURG -- Pearl M. Smith, 81, of Millersburg, died Friday evening, July 2, 1999, at Med-Central/Mansfield Hospital, after a short illness.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Jeff Graebing officiating. Burial will be at Nashville Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to Holmes County Senior Center.
She was born July 24, 1917 in Monroe Township, Holmes County to Homer and Jessie (Franks) Martin and married Glen A. Smith on Feb. 27, 1937. He died Dec. 27, 1975.
Surviving are a son, Larry Smith of Fredericksburg; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

Mabel Troyer
DOVER -- Mabel Troyer, 68, 2449 Woodlawn Drive, died Saturday morning, July 3, 1999, at her home after a brief illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sugarcreek Free Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Latsha officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
She was born Aug. 30, 1930 in Sugarcreek to Melvin E. and Saloma (Schlabach) Troyer and married Mose J. Troyer. He died Oct. 26, 1971.
Surviving are children, Mrs. Jim (Amy) Cappon of Sugarcreek and Gene Troyer of Dover; two grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Mose A. (Mary) Troyer and Mrs. Dan R. (Lovina) Yoder, both of Sugarcreek, Mrs. Noah (Alta) Miller of Apple Creek, Lydia Yoder of Plain City and Miriam Lightell of Dover; and brothers, Lester O. and Monroe E. "Monk" Troyer, both of Sugarcreek.

Rosina Swineford
WOOSTER -- Rosina B. Swineford, 96, of Country Club Drive, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Oak Grove Manor Nursing Home in Mansfield, after a long illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Heyl Funeral Home in Ashland, with the Rev. Dean Risser officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to Southview Grace Brethren Church in Ashland.
She was born June 26, 1903 in Austria, Hungary, to Sava and Sofia (Dugan) Baba and married Richard O. Swineford on July 15, 1948. He died Dec. 26, 1997.
Surviving are four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Youngs of St. Ignace, Mich., and Mary Morel of Cincinnati.

Miriam Martin
SEYMOUR, Mo. -- Miriam K. Martin, 78, of Seymour, Mo., formerly of Seville, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Chester Mennonite Church. Burial will be at Eight Square Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Surviving are sons, Lester Martin of Seymour, Mo., and Willard Martin and his wife, Martha, of Seneca Rocks, W.Va.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Elvin and Benjamin Horst, both of Orrville.

Gilbert Ingold Jr.
NORTH CANTON -- Gilbert R. Ingold Jr., 78, of North Canton, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton, with Father James McKarns officiating. Burial will be at North Canton Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Karlo & Sons Funeral Home, 512 S. Main St., North Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association; or to the American Heart Association.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Randall and Molly Ingold of Newark, Melissa and James Lanham of Wooster and Jennifer and Peter Seltzer of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Patricia and Richard Ingold, Andrew and Claire Lanham; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Ingold; a brother, Herbert Ingold of Florida; a sister-in-law, Jane Crawmer of North Canton; and a brother-in-law, Woody Wagner of Canton.
His wife, Maxine (Sponseller) Ingold, died in 1994.

Dick Sullivan
CANTON -- Richard E. "Dick" Sullivan, 66, 510 High St., formerly of Dalton and Orrville, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Columbia Mercy Medical Hospital in Canton, after a long illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born March 31, 1933 in Canton to Clarence and Harriett (Mann) Sullivan Sr.
Surviving are a brother, Dean Sullivan and his wife, Nanci, of Wadsworth; a sister, Janet Nussbaum and her husband, Fred, of Kidron; and a sister-in-law, Helen Hignight of Orrville.

Willis Barnes
CANTON -- Willis K. Barnes, 88, of Canton, formerly of Wayne and Holmes County, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Mercy Medical Hospital in Canton, after a long illness.
There will be no services or calling hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are being handled by Karlo & Sons Funeral Home in North Canton.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn R. (Finley) Barnes; a daughter, Melinda Updegraff of Lock Haven, Pa.; stepdaughters, Jane Healy and Mrs. David (Jean) Twilley, both of Canton; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren; and caregiver Richard Oberster.

Laura Skelton
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Laura M. Skelton, 67, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Beach City, died Friday morning, July 2, 1999, at the Morning View Care Center in New Philadelphia following a long illness.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, with the Rev. Ray Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wilmot.
Friends may call one hour before services on Monday.
She was born in Ansted, W.Va. on June 8, 1932 to the Homer and Barbara (Bryant) Neff and on July 8, 1968, she married Enos T. Skelton. He died Oct. 19, 1994.

Jane Craig
RITTMAN -- Jane L. Craig, 62, 75 Orchard St., died Wednesday night, June 30, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Doylestown, with Pastor Stephen K. Kummernuss officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Doylestown.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in care of Dr. Robert Schlossman, 44 Binney St., Boston, Mass. 02115.
She was born July 26, 1936, in Rittman to M. Ward and Marie (Berger) Bauman and married Ralph C. Craig on June 10, 1956. He survives.
Other survivors are children and their spouses, Mark and Renee Craig of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Karen and Don Wilson of Keene, N.H.; her mother of Doylestown; grandchildren; and sisters, Eileen Smith of Doylestown and Mrs. Larry (Betty) Tyska of Wadsworth.

Laura Timmons
ORRVILLE -- Laura L. Timmons, 93, formerly of 315 Lake St., died Thursday evening, July 1, 1999, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, following a long illness.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the East Chippewa Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 7207 Chippewa Road, Orrville, with the Rev. Guy Buch officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691 or the East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7207 Chippewa Road, Orrville 44667.
She was born in Orrville on Feb. 14, 1906 to Christian and Emma (Brodbeck) Stuckey and married Harry Timmons on June 2, 1929. He died previously.
Surviving are a brother, Glenn Stuckey of Seville, a sister, Beulah Maurer of Rittman and many nieces and nephews.

Jane Craig
RITTMAN -- Jane L. Craig, 62, 75 Orchard St., died Wednesday night, June 30, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital. Clarence Keplar
ORRVILLE -- Clarence R. "Dick" Keplar, 71, 1725 Kenwood Drive, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at his residence after a three-month illness. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Dennis O Rinehart officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, in care of Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691. He was born Feb. 26, 1928 in Nelsonville to Clarence A. and Mable (Skiver) Keplar and married Ruth Moore on July 18, 1949 in Nelsonville. She survives. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife, Ruth, are a daughter, Sherri (Tim) Keplar of Orrville and sons, Dennis (Karen) Keplar of Wooster and Dana (Michelle) Keplar of Uniontown; grandchildren, Angela Marks, Cody Finkenbinder, Corey, Eric, Josh, Andrew, Ryan, Justin and Nicholas Keplar; a brother, Ralph (Carolyn) Keplar of Orrville; and sisters, Phyllis (Jack) Crosser of Orrville, Zita (Larry) Bentley of Nelsonville and Glennia Keplar of Columbus.

Myra Benjamin
WOOSTER -- Myra H. Benjamin, 56, 1801 Gasche St., Apt. C-16, died Thursday morning, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a long illness. Services will be held in Brooklyn, N.Y., at a later date. Local calling hours will be Saturday at 10 a.m.-noon at the Little Church on the Hill, 5575 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster. Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home, Wooster. Surviving are her husband, Howard Benjamin of Holly Hills, S.C.; children and their spouses, Derick and Simone Benjamin of Brooklyn, N.Y., Revell Benjamin of Hamlet, N.C., Jamal and Sandi Benjamin of Capital Heights, Md., Lamont Benjamin and Anna Benjamin, both of Wooster; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her father of Camden, S.D.; brothers, Edward Williams of Syracuse, N.Y., Kerwin Brooks, Manny Williams and Anthony Perry, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Maxie Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Glo Evans of Wooster, Anita Springer of Orrville, Wanda Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Vera Walker of Columbia, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

James McClarran
ROCKAWAY BEACH, Ore. -- James Dale "Red" McClarran, 66, of Rockaway Beach, Ore., formerly of the Wayne County area, died Monday, June 28, 1999, at a hospice facility in Longview, Wash. Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, where a Masonic service will be held. The Rev. Ralph Fogal of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. He will be buried in the family plot at Congress Cemetery, Congress Township. All funeral arrangements are being handled by Cattermole Funeral Home in Winlock, Wash., and McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. Surviving are daughters, Janice Sisley of Winlock, Wash., Jackie Proffitt of Glendale, Ariz., and Jill Behn of Hollywood, Calif.; four grandchildren; an uncle, Dale Sparr and an aunt, Martha Beckett, both of Wooster.

Cora Smith
WOOSTER -- Cora W. Smith, 80, formerly of Beall Avenue, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Smithville-Western Care Center. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. J. William Lofgren officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born Nov. 14, 1918 in Nicholas County, Ky., to Robert A. and Mary Elizabeth (Marcland) Tincher and married Richard E. Smith on Sept. 20, 1948 in Maysville, Ky. He died Aug. 6, 1973. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Brenda) Nygaard of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mrs Edward (Karen) Rouhier of Wooster; grandchildren, Scott and Rusty Nygaard and Shannon, Sara and E.J. Rouhier; a brother, Earl Tincher of Maysville Ky.; and a sister, Sarah Fryman of Carlisle, Ky.

David Nielsen
WOOSTER -- David Alexander Nielsen, infant son of Paul and Christine (Kodric) Nielsen, 2430 Dover Road, Apt. B, was stillborn Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Akron City Hospital. Private family services will be held. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, is handling arrangements. Other survivors include maternal grandparents, Daniel and Cecilia Kodric of Eastlake and paternal grandparents, Robert and Susan Nielsen of Appleton, Wis.; paternal great-grandparents, Barbara Close of Edgewater, Fla., and Ralph and Louella Nielsen of Omaha, Neb.

Ethel Goodman
WOOSTER -- Ethel M. Goodman, 91, 1936 Fox Lake Road, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Smithville-Western Care Center. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with the Rev. Dan Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call a half hour prior to the services at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 22, 1908 in Wayne County to Samuel and Antoinette (Metzler) Miller and married Howard S. Goodman. He died in 1982. Surviving are children and their spouses, Freda and Guy Hofacker of Kentucky, Wilbur Morr, Dorothy Morr, Shirley Root, Ira DeLoine and Pat Morr, Carolyn Geiser and Eddie Goodman, all of Wooster and Larry and Brenda Morr of West Salem; 28 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Margaret Hutson
RITTMAN -- Margaret (Steel) Hutson, 68, of Rittman, formerly of London, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at her home. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Paint Township Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at Newport United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Beverly Hume and Stanley A. Ward officiating. Friends may call today (Friday) from 2-4 and 6-8 at Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral Home in London, or for a brief time at the funeral home prior to the procession to the gravesite. Memorial contributions may be made to Newport United Methodist Church. She was born Nov. 18, 1930 in Columbus to Harry D. and Edith (Williams) Steel and married L. Clinton Hutson on Dec. 26, 1948. He died in 1985. Surviving are children and their spouses, Charlotte and Jim Craig of Pittsfield, Mass., Charlie and Marianne Hutson of Milford Center, Mary and Bill Goode of McConnelsville, Cindy and Charlie Neff, David and Linda Hutson and Bonnie and Bob Darlington, all of London, P. Joyce and Rick Eddie of Huntington, Ind., Carolyn and Tim Brigner of Rittman, Clint and Robin Hutson and Levin and Angie Hutson, all of West Jefferson, Gale and Bill Kernitz of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Clark Hutson of Tiffin, Jonathan Hutson of Columbus and Jodi Hutson of Mechanicsburg; 24 grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Wengert and her husband, David, of Luckey; three nieces and five nephews.

WOOSTER -- David L. "Bubba" Pelfrey, 51, 1644 Sylvan Road, died Thursday afternoon, July 1, 1999, at his home after a lengthy illness. Services will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Larry Rickey officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. He was born Aug. 8, 1947 in Wadsworth to Bascom A. and Anna (Skeens) Pelfrey and was married to Sandra (Ratcliff) Pelfrey for 32 years. Other survivors include children, David Ray of the home, Rebecca Tinney, of Lancaster, Pa., and Kelly Mears and her husband, Don, of Wooster; four grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Pelfrey and his wife, Mary, of Creston; sisters and their husbands, Phyllis and Virgil Vance of Wooster, Rosina and Gerald Rhoads of Creston and Delores and Edward Arnold of Tavares, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
