WOOSTER -- Edith M. Wortman, 64, 190 N. Honeytown Road, died Friday afternoon, May 28, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a long illness. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Custer Funeral Home in Wooster with the Revs. Don R. Loving and Claude L. McComas officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society (Breast Research Fund), c/o The Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691 or Nold Ave. Baptist Church, 342 Nold Ave., Wooster 44691. She married Ernie C. Wortman on July 28, 1956 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son and daughter-in-law, Don C. and Michele Wortman of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda L. and George Eberle of Warren and Ruth A. and Paul D. Powers of Canton; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and June Tidd of Ashtabula and a sister, Mrs. William (June) Granger of Niles.

Stanley Zelesnik
DOYLESTOWN -- Stanley Zelesnik, 68, of Doylestown, died Friday, May 28, 1999. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with the Rev. Lynn Garth officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Chippewa Fire & Emergency Medical Service. Surviving are a brother, Mike Zelesnik of Norton and sister, Mary Centa of Doylestown.

Sarah Yarnell
WOOSTER -- Sarah S. Yarnell, 96, formerly of Burbank Road, Wooster, died Friday, May 28, 1999, at Wayne County Care Center. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Wayne Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 7152 Burbank Road, Wooster 44691, in her memory. She married George G. Yarnell Aug. 20, 1921. He died March 30, 1977. Surviving are children and spouses, Iola and Donald Elliott and Richard D. and Pamela Yarnell, all of Wooster, and James L. and Jeanne Yarnell of Holiday, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Susan "Susie" Yarnell and Nina Yarnell, both of Wooster; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Luella Geitgey of Wooster.

Marjorie Bennett
WOOSTER -- Marjorie L. Bennett, 81, 1593 Burbank Road, died Saturday morning, May 29, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with the Rev. J. William Lofgren officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born May 14, 1918 in Wooster to Samuel and Ada (Franks) Woodward. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda) Horst of Wooster; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Roberson
WOOSTER -- John Howard Roberson, 89, 1524 Avalon, died Friday afternoon, May 28, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Jackson, Miss. with the Rev. Bennie Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville, Miss. Friends may call one hour prior to time of service at the funeral home. Local arrangements were handled by McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home. Surviving are children, Pearlene "Perky" Davis of Wooster and Howard Arnold and Cherie Roberson of Jonesboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Brandon and Sara Roberson and sons, Paul and Jonathan, Alan and Linda Davis and children, Dustin and Jaime, Rhonda and Donny Nelson and children, Carrie Kopec and D.J. and Krista Nelson; Robert Davis and son, Robert Culbert; Caleb "Casey" Davis and daughter, Kaitlynn.

Frank Dalessandro
ORRVILLE -- Frank J. Dalessandro, 93, 541 Orr St., Orrville, died Friday, May 28, 1999, at his residence. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville. Surviving are a son, Donald L. Dalessandro of Orrville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Joe Dalessandro of Yellsville, Ark. and Nick Dalessandro of Port Richey, Fla. and a sister, Mary Caskey of Orrville.

George Olsen
WOOSTER -- George A. Olsen, 65, of 666 1/2 Buckeye St., died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital emergency room, following a brief illness. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Crownhill Cemetery in Orrville. Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home, Orrville. He was born Jan. 1, 1934 in Orrville to Glenn and Ethel (Ferguson) Olsen. Surviving are a brother, Richard E. Olsen of Orrville; a sister, Marie L. Leedy of Wooster, and nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Steinmetz
NAVARRE -- Kenneth R. Steinmetz, 83, of Navarre, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, after an extended illness. He was the father of Mary Gail Lelless of Dalton. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Massillon Cemetery, with the Rev. Jon Johnson officiating. Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-8 at Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. He was born April 20, 1916 in Massillon to Michael and Gail (Borway) Steinmetz and married Dorris May Hand on Aug. 4, 1945. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Charles Michael Steinmetz of Green and Charles Clarence Steinmetz of New Philadelphia; and four grandchildren.

Pauline Hurt
WOOSTER -- Pauline Hurt, 65, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Horn Nursing Home in Wooster, after an extended illness. Services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with the Rev. William Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-8 at the funeral home. She was born April 7, 1934 in Paintsville, Ky., to Vent and Clarice (Estep) Pack and married Willard Hurt on June 14, 1951. He survives. Other survivors include children and their spouses, Junior and Charlie Hurt, Edward and Joyce Hurt and Barbara Campbell, all of Wooster and Bonnie Duncan of Fredericksburg; a stepson, Charles Centers and his wife, Peggy, of Thealka, Ky.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtle Lee May of Middletown.

Irene Losh
LOUDONVILLE -- Irene M. Losh, 98, 230 S. Water St., died Thursday morning, May 27, 1999, at her home after an extended illness. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Ray Morrison officiating. Burial will be at Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 225 E. Main St., Loudonville 44842. She was born Sept. 16, 1900 in Canton to Sherman and Ermina (Priest) Schauweker and married Ed Losh. He died in 1951. Survivors include two nephews, and cousins.

Alvin Johnston
WOOSTER -- Alvin "Abe" Johnston died Wednesday, May 26, 1999. He was born May 2, 1929 in McKeesport, Pa., to Jack T. and Marie (Campbell) Johnston and married Miriam J. Reich. She survives. Survivors include children and their spouses, Charles, Allen and Pam Johnston, Patty and Jim Kirk, and Audrey L. Johnston, all of Wooster, Lorayne and Michael Scheetz of Massillon and Jackie and Fred Maibach of Orrville; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, John T. Johnston of Brooklyn, N.Y. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 5, at the Wooster Eagles Lodge, 231 Beall Ave., from 2-6 p.m. for all friends and family. Military rites will be held at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.

John Jones
LAKELAND, Fla. -- John Marshall Jones, 81, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Wooster, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was the brother of Mary Drabenstott of Wooster. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 2198 K-Ville Ave., Auburndale, Fla., where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Group at Carpenters Home Church in Lakeland, Fla. Other survivors include his wife, Eleanor Jones of Lakeland, Fla.; sons, Gary Jones of Redington Shores, Fla., and Bob Jones of Franklin, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

James Earls
SHELBY -- James R. Earls, 76, formerly of 19 Pinewood Drive, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Horn Nursing Home in Wooster. He was the stepfather of Phyllis Ratliff of Wooster. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Turner Funeral Home, 168 W. Main St., Shelby, with the Rev. James Humphrey officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. He was born Feb. 4, 1923 in Tazwell, Va., to James H. and Lucy (King) Earls and married Ruby I. Ratcliff. She died in 1998. Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Wanda Ismael of Westchester, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Earls of Bluefield, Va., and Harold Earls of Brown, Va.; a sister, Louise Medors of Bluefield, Va.

Roland Langlois
MILLERSBURG -- Roland J. Langlois, 75, of Majora Lane Care Center died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be conducted. He was born Aug. 7, 1923 in Manchester, N.H., and married Patricia Breedon on April 18, 1964. She died in 1994. Surviving are sons, Mike Lupole Sr. of Wooster and Don Lupole of St. Clairsville; and grandchildren, Michael Lupole Jr., Nicholas, Nicole and Shelby Lupole.

Bertrum Durie
WOOSTER -- Bertrum J. Durie, 80, 1598 Bellevue Drive, died Monday evening, May 24, 1999, at Cleveland Clinic, after a short illness. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Church of God, Wooster, with the Rev. O.J. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:45 p.m. Lust Cemetery, Chatfield, near Bucyrus, where military rites will be conducted by the local American Legion of Bucyrus. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Regional Office, 4767 Higbee Ave., NW, Canton 44718. He was born Sept. 27, 1918 in Spring Valley, N.Y., to Bert and Sophie (Gross) Durie Sr., and married Carol M. Beal on Nov. 3, 1943 in Bucyrus. She survives. Other survivors include children and their spouses, Bert and Cheryl Durie III of Indianapolis, Ronald E. and Diana Durie of Marietta, Ga., and Delores and Charles Zulauf of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Mildred Vranisky of Spring Valley, N.Y.; and six nieces and nephews.

Sidney Ames
WOOSTER -- Sidney L. Ames, 81, 2510 Impala Road, died Thursday afternoon, May 20, 1999, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, after a long illness. Private graveside services have been held at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown. Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, handled arrangements. He was born Nov. 26, 1916 in Youngstown to Morris and Sadie (Bogus) Kulikoff and married Elizabeth C. Church on April 17, 1942 in Youngstown. She survives. Other survivors include children, Charles Ames of Michigan, Sidney Louis Ames of Hubbard, Allathea May Joniec of Philadelphia, and Sally Roslund of Jamestown; eight grandchildren; and a brother, David Kulikoff of California.

Anna Miller
MILLERSBURG -- Anna J. Miller, 77, 5758 County Road 349, died Tuesday afternoon, May 25, 1999, at her residence after a short illness. Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Ivan S. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Raber Cemetery. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. She was born Aug. 8, 1921 in Holmes County to Monroe B. and Mattie (Hochstetler) Yoder and married John A. Miller on Dec. 5, 1944. She died Jan. 16, 1969. Surviving are children, Mrs. William (Ada) Hostetler of James Port, Mo., Mrs. Roy (Mattie) Keim of West Union, Mrs. Ben (Susie) Troyer of Holmesville, Edwin Miller of Dundee and Mrs. Robert (Amanda) Raber of the home; 40 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Yoder of Quaker City and Ura Yoder of Millersburg; and sisters, Ella Keim of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Aden (Edna) Yoder of Greenwich, Mrs. Wayne (Lizzie) Miller of Wilmot and Amanda Miller of Millersburg.

Janet Hostettler
WOOSTER -- Janet F. Hostettler, 61, 2521 Earl Drive, died Monday, May 24, 1999, at her home. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, with the Rev. Tom Benter officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, in care of Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster; or to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. She was born Aug. 25, 1937 in Holmes County to Ralph S. and Geraldine (Church) Mellor and married Jack W. Hostettler on Jan. 21, 1978. He survives. Other survivors include children and their spouses, Randy and Lori Hostettler of Phoenix, Ariz., Deborah and Ron McHenry of Canton, Edward and Sharon Frederick of Orrville, David and Lois Hostettler of Millersburg and Tamara and David Cummins of Wooster; 15 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; her mother of Shreve; brothers, Albert and Rudy Mellor, both of Wooster, Gary Mellor of Shreve, Larry Mellor of Killbuck, Keith Mellor of Millersburg and Stephen Mellor of Brinkhaven; and sisters, Sandra VanMeter of Wooster and Carole Newton of Fredericktown.
