WOOSTER -- John P. "Jack" Gwin, 67, 1249 Fawnwood Circle, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at his home. A Memorial Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. He was born April 10, 1932 in Wooster to Wade and Evelyn (Soliday) Gwin and was married to Frances (Armstrong) Gwin for 46 years. She survives. Adams of Lake Tahoe, Nev., Kevin Gwin of Cincinnati and Sean Gwin of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Gwin of Wooster.

ORRVILLE -- Olive M. Rider, 82, 230 S. Crown Hill Road, Orrville, formerly of Apple Creek, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at Lincoln Manor Nursing Home, Orrville. Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Apple Creek Cemetery, with the Rev. Roy Wagner officiating. Friends may call Friday from 1-2 p.m. in the parlor at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Apple Creek. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster. She was born March 13, 1917 in Millersburg to Ralph and Tava (Kaser) Bush and married Howard W. Mohr. He died in 1935. She then married Wilbur R. Rider. He died in 1970. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Leighty and her husband, Thomas, of Wooster; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter, Jamie Marie Baldridge.

ORRVILLE -- Robert Lee Watts, 38, of Orrville, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. MOUNT EATON -- Eric Muekenheim, 89, of Mount Eaton, died Tuesday morning, May 11, 1999, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Westerville, after a period of declining health. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, with the Rev. Jacqueline McMillen officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Mount Eaton. Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m., or one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. He was born Nov. 5, 1909 in Neundorf, Germany, to Robert and Martha (Mueller) Muekenheim and married Elma Horter on Sept. 22, 1934. She died Oct. 14, 1992. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Paul J. (Nancy) Moser of Kent and Mrs. Jeffrey L. (Gretchen) Glasgow of Westerville; grandchildren and their spouses, Sonya and Mark Hartburg of Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, Marcus and Amy Glasgow and Aaron Glasgow, all of Worthington; 3 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Guenther Raddatz and his wife, Meta, of Bellport, Long Island, N.Y., and a stepniece, Mrs. Joseph (Delores) Furlan of Cleveland.

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. -- Adele "Del" Bryan, 84, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Doylestown, died Thursday, May 6, 1999. Services will be Monday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at Desert Garden United Church of Christ, 18818 N. 128th Ave., Sun City West, Ariz. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Denver. WOOSTER -- Ellen V. Crafton, 89, formerly of Ihrig St., died Tuesday morning, May 11, 1999, at Smithville-Western Care Center, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron, with the Rev. William Lofgren officiating. There will be no calling hours. She was born April 23, 1910 in Sacramento, Calif., to Royal and Zenith (Taylor) Alexander and married Marvin Jack Crafton. He died in 1968. Surviving are children and their spouses, M. Jack and Beverly Crafton of Wooster and Patricia and Doug Burgett of Geneva; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Fern Duncan of Millersburg; and a brother, Royal Alexander of Nashville.

WOOSTER -- Carrie L. Eikleberry, 24, 2463 W. Messner Road, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Holmes County on Monday. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Dwight Watkins officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve. SMITHVILLE -- Irene I. Dintaman, 95, formerly of 228 W. Center St., died Tuesday evening, May 11, 1999, at Smithville-Western Care Center. She was born March 17, 1904 in New Haven, W.Va., and married Frank Bartels. He died in 1943. She then married John Dintaman. He died previously. Surviving are a son, Robert Bartels of Canton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

WOOSTER -- Bernard E. Wharton Sr., 81, 1658 Morgan, died Monday evening, May 10, 1999, at his home. Private family services will be held, with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating. He was born March 28, 1918 in Unionville, Va., to John W. and Mary (Palmer) Wharton Sr., and married Hildegard Kube on Sept. 1, 1948. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Bernie Wharton and his wife, Patty, and John W. Wharton, all of Wooster; a grandson, Justin Wharton; brothers, James and Thomas Wharton, both of Unionville, Va., John W. She was born Sept. 5, 1916 in Barry County, Mich. to Arthur and Mabel (Fisher) White and married Merle E. Fouts on June 15, 1935 in Plainwell, Mich. He died April 27, 1999. Surviving are children and their spouses, Joyce and Fred Mullett of Orrville and Clare and Gail Fouts of Sykesville, Md.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Gilbert White of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Harold White of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, Ruth Simonton and her husband, Clio, of Kalamazoo, Mich.

APPLE CREEK -- Joe W. Hostetler, 56, 12136 Harrison Road, died Sunday morning, May 9, 1999, in the emergency room at Massillon Community Hospital, after suffering a massive heart attack at his home. Services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Jacob Shetler officiating. Burial will be at Hershberger Cemetery, Paint Township, Wayne County. (Barbara) Hostetler and Mrs. Adonia L. OBERLIN -- Lawrence Richard "Larry" Zech, 42, of Oberlin, died Friday, May 7, 1999, in Elyria. He was the brother and brother-in-law of David and Miriam Zech of Wooster and Jeff and Tonie Zech of West Salem. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery. He was born Sept. 3, 1956 in Oberlin to Conrad and Wilma Zech and married Sue Webb in 1994. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Jacob of the home; stepchildren, Brian, Angela and Bobby Lankey, all of Elyria; his parents of Oberlin; another brother, Tim Zech of Grafton; and a sister, Linda Husk and her husband, Henry, of Elyria; and nieces and nephews.

VINTON, Va. -- Bessie Mae Kauffman, 104, formerly of Shreve and Wooster, died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at Berkshire Health Care Center, Vinton, Va. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, where services will be held at 4 p.m. The Revs. Christopher P. Stewart and David Stout will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, were a service will be conducted by the Shreve American Legion Auxiliary. The family suggests contributions be made to Shreve Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 587, Shreve 44676. She was born April 13, 1895 in Louisville, Ohio, to the late Harry V. and Sophia (Robb) Manson, and married Forest D. Kauffman on June 26, 1919. He died July 27, 1980. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen K. (Donald E.) Davenport of Roanoke, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Pat Kauffman of Lexington, Va.; a granddaughter, Kathryn Burgwyn of Atlanta, Ga.; grandsons, David Davenport of Corona, Calif., Michael Davenport of Goodview, Va., and William Kauffman of Wooster; and a great-grandson, Ned Burgwyn of Atlanta, Ga.
