SUGARCREEK -- Fannie Schlabach, 90, of County Road 108, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at her residence. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Countryside Chapel, Baltic, with the Rev. Gary Yackey officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church, or one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are being handled by Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek. Memorial contributions may be made to Back to the Bible, in care of Countryside Chapel, 2236 State Route 93, Baltic 43804. She was born May 21, 1908 in Holmes County to Robert and Mattie (Miller) Troyer and married Albert N. Schlabach on Dec. 3, 1929. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are children and their spouses, Alvin A. and Dorothy Schlabach of Baltic, Robert and Lois Schlabach, Ada and Gerald Hershberger and Mary and Daniel C. Yoder, all of Sugarcreek; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Troyer of Millersburg and Menno Troyer of Sugarcreek.

Eleanore Ickes
FREMONT -- Eleanore J. "Ell" (Oprie) Ickes, 69, of County Road 41, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Memorial Hospital. She was the mother of Virginia Belcher of West Salem. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont, with the Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donoršs choice. She was born Oct. 19, 1929 in Fremont to Nicholas and Katherine (Gross) Oprie and married Donald Ickes on Feb. 25, 1952 in Knoxville, Tenn. He survives. Surviving in addition to her daughter and husband, are children, Donald C. and Robert Ickes, both of Fremont, Daniel and Christopher Ickes and Deborah Hunker, all of Tiffin, Lynn Foos of Burgoon, Brenda Lemke of Toledo and Rebecca Watt of Clyde; 16 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and sisters, Charlotte Nitschke of Fremont and Margaret Novak of Westland, Mich.

Dr. Edwin Feltes
NAPLES, Fla. -- Dr. Edwin J. Feltes, 84, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Orrville, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Orrville, with Father Paul Wysocki officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, where a Christian Wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. The family suggests contributions be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church in Orrville. Surviving are his most loving wife of 57 years, Mary C. (Kirst) Feltes of Naples, Fla.; six children and their families, Joseph J. Feltes and his sons, Paul and Adam of North Canton, Tess Feltes and her husband, Mark Moses, and children, Jacob, Eric and Anya of Portsmouth, N.H., Sara Paulich and her husband, John, and sons, John and Nathan of Naples, Fla., Gretchen Feltes of New York, N.Y., Timothy Feltes and his wife, Tami Knight, and daughters, Cory and Josey of Houston, Texas, and Lisa Feltes-Long and her husband, Richard Long, and daughter, Rachel of Wadsworth.

Philip Rieman
CORTEZ, Fla. -- Philip Rieman, 63, of Cortez, Fla., formerly of Wooster, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, Fla. Surviving are children, Patricia Rieman of Hallendale, Fla., Pamela Charles of Buffalo, N.Y., Philip Rieman II and Arthur Rieman, both of Wooster; and six granddaughters.

Ben Miller
KILLBUCK -- Ben R. Miller, 55, 130 Carpenter St., died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at the home of his brother in Holmesville, after a five-year illness. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Millersburg, with Scott Hostetler, Joe Hochstetler and Michael VanArsdale officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Surviving are his father of Holmesville; brothers, Henry R. Miller of Fredericksburg, Andy R. Miller and Reuben R. Miller Jr., both of Millersburg and Atlee R. Miller of Holmesville; sisters, Mrs. Eli (Mattie) Stutzman of Millersburg, Mrs. Fred (Lovina) Hershberger of Apple Creek and Mrs. Jacob (Katie) Troyer of Holmesville; and 31 nieces and nephews.

WOOSTER -- Gail I. Odenkirk, 85, formerly of Grandview Avenue, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Wayne County Care Center. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. She was born Sept. 16, 1913 in Apple Creek to Thomas and Lennie (Criswell) Finley and married Arthur Russell Odenkirk on Jan. 14, 1933. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are children and their spouses, Shirley and Richard Hartman and Richard A. and Ruth Ann Odenkirk, all of Wooster and Sally and James Porter of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

BYESVILLE -- Joe E. Parry, 59, 170 Greenwood St., formerly of Wayne County, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at his home. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Black Family Funeral Service, 231 E. Main Ave., P.O. Box 55, Byesville, with the Rev. Dan Crouch officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Byesville. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born July 16, 1939 in Kimberly to Jack W. and Ruth (Hunter) Parry and married Brenda Nevseta. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, Joe and Beeg Parry and Vicki and Glenn Eltringham, all of Byesville, David and Juanita Parry of Kimbolton and Richard and Bernice Parry of Seminole, Fla.; stepchildren, Dave Prihoda and Rosemarie Gann, both of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a sister, Debbie Sparks of Byesville.

CANTON -- William F. Lahey, 77, 4742 Tanglewood, NE, Canton, formerly of Wooster, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Collier Hospital in Naples, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wooster, with Father John Mueller as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster. The family requests contributions be made to St. Mary Day School Foundation, P.O. Box 109, Wooster 44691; or to the local Make A Wish Foundation. On May 30, 1942, he married Mary Jung in Chicago and moved to Wooster, where they raised five children. Surviving are children and their spouses, Deborah and Martin Degnan of Wooster, Dennis and Karen Lahey of Neenha, Wis., William and Lisa Lahey of Lexington, Mass., Timothy Lahey and Patricia Lahey, both of Canton; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Zachary and Maxwell Lahey, Brian, Lisa and Christopher Murphy and Kathy VanderVelden; a great-grandchild, Terry VanderVelden; a brother, Wayne Lahey of Palos Heights, Ill.; a sister, Marilyn Riney of Fairfax, Va.; and a dear friend, Betty Jackson of Canton.

DOYLESTOWN -- Beulah O. Snyder, 93, of Doylestown, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999. Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Doylestown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Tennant officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown. She was born July 2, 1905 in Wayne County to Earl D. and Elta M. (Johns) Brouse and married Paul H. Snyder on Nov. 26, 1925. He died in 1981. Hiley and husband, Ronald, both of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Carol Snyder of Doylestown; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

KIDRON -- Lorene M. Yoder, 85, of Kidron, died Tuesday evening, March 2, 1999, in Pinellas County, Fla., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Memorial services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Terry Shue officiating. Family graveside services will be held at Beech Mennonite Church Cemetery in Louisville. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Fellowship Building at Kidron Mennonite Church. Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton. She was born Sept. 13, 1913, near Kidron to Noah J. and Mary (Kratzer) Lehman and married Raymond O. Yoder on April 17, 1938. He died Dec. 15, 1983. Surviving are children, Earle R. Yoder of Plymouth, Mich., Mrs. Ray (Carol) Swartzendruber of Syracuse, Ind., and Mrs. David (Audrey) Croal of Rochester Hills, Mich.; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild; a sister, Anne Nussbaum of Kidron; and brothers, Edwin, Dennis and Harold Lehman, all of Kidron.

KILLBUCK -- Aimee Frenette-Rickly, 23, of Killbuck, died Tuesday morning, March 2, 1999, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg. PALM COAST, Fla. -- John Nelms, 79, of Palm Coast, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Daytona Beach Hospital. Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 27 in Palm Coast, Fla. Surviving are his wife, Joan (Lequillon) Nelms, formerly of Killbuck; children, Jody, of California, and Michael, of Pittsburgh.

WOOSTER -- Ruth L. Bartell, 91, formerly of College Avenue, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Smithville-Western Care Center. BARBERTON -- Alice M. Hall, 74, 1019 Wilbur Ave., died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at her home. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. Fay A. She was born June 26, 1924 in Sterling to John and Luella (Smith) Renner and married Charles A. Hall. He survives. FREDERICKSBURG -- Roy J. Miller, 71, 8447 Township Road 601, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, in the emergency room at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg, after an apparent heart attack while at work. Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Andy J. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Keim Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements. He was born Feb. 15, 1928 in Holmes County to Joe S. and Lydia (Coblentz) Miller and married Katie M. Miller on Nov. 8, 1951. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Roman R. Miller of Dalton, Mart R. and Perry R. Miller, both of Fredericksburg, and Mrs. Alvin E. (Erma) Beachy of Millersburg; 35 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dan D. She was born March 10, 1899 in Cadiz Junction to McCullough and Cora Graham and married Chester Hilbert. He died in 1950. He was born Nov. 11, 1938 in Baltimore, Md., to Edward and Edith (Kato) Roeder and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Nicholas Lastohkein in Fredericksburg. He married Dorothy Welty on Nov. 30, 1957. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, William D. and Jinell Roeder of Fredericksburg, Susan L. Reed and Christine A. and Rick Leach, all of Wooster, Kathleen J. and Mark Geitgey of West Salem and Patricia K. and Mark Moser of Shreve; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his mother, Edith Lastohkein of Fredericksburg.

Gordon of Port Clinton; grandchildren and their spouses, John and Beth Davis, Nancy and Randy Duncan and Scott and Diana Davis; and great-grandchildren, Amy and Matt Duncan, Tom and Tim Davis.

Edward Pirman
MEDINA -- Edward Pirman, II, 54, of 233T Northland Dr., Medina, beloved son of Edward and Margaret Pirman, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Medina General Hospital. He was born on Feb. 1, 1945 in Wadsworth, and lived in Medina for the past 10 years, previously residing in Wadsworth. Surviving are his parents, Edward and Margaret (Weakland) Pirman of Wadsworth; a sister, Kimbra Gospodinsky of Wadsworth; a nephew, Kolby; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. Jonathan A. Knight officiating. There will be no calling hours. Donald Smeltzer
WOOSTER -- Donald C. Smeltzer, 85, formerly of 207 Cannon Drive, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Glendora Health Care Center, following a two year illness. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Church of the Cross United Methodist Church in Wooster, with the Rev. Dr. Sally Dyck officiating. There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, 5100 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691. Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home, Orrville. He was born on July 9, 1913 in Lake County, Indiana to Camp and Maud (Yost) Smeltzer and was a former resident of Orrville and Mifflin. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Bob and Connie Smeltzer of Wooster and a son, Mike Smeltzer of Mifflin; and three grandchildren.

PENFIELD -- Maxine M. Bobel, 91, of Penfield, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont, Michigan, following a long illness. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 370 S. Main, Wellington, with the Rev. Tom Keller officiating. Burial will be at Penfield Township cemetery. Friends maycall Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Penfield Community Church, 40775 State Route 18, Wellington 44090. She was born Nov. 28, 1907 in Creston to Harvey and Irene (Jackson) Blough and married Clayton Bobel. He died in 1969. Surviving in addition to the daughter she lived with are a daughter, Anita Marie Frase of Rittman; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Pierce of Wellington.

June Bowers
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- June E. (Whonsetler) Bowers, 100, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Carrington Place Nursing Home. Private family services and burial will take place in St. Petersburg on Sunday. Plans for a memorial service will be announced later. There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place. She was born June 30, 1898 in Canaan to Ruben and Sarah Whonsetler and married Oscar E. Bowers. They were married for 56 years. He died in 1975. Surviving are her son, William F. (Mary) Bowers of Wadsworth and a daughter, Sarah Jane Bowers of St. Petersburg, Fla; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
