Roberta Shealy

MOUNT GILEAD - Roberta J. Shealy of Mount Gilead, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, in the Morrow County Hospital ECF. She was 89.
Born in Cleveland on Aug. 1, 1915, she was the daughter of John W. and Laura (Kuesthardt) Morris. She married Charles A. Shealy on April 24, 1948. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Claudia Shealy, Athens; and a sister, Olive Stracke, Delaware.
Mrs. Shealy was a kindergarten teacher for the Mount Gilead and Edison schools until retiring.
She was a member of the Edison United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shealy also was a member of the Morrow County Quilters and the Marlboro Hookers and Weavers Club.
Graveside services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky, Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Don Lockwood officiating. Visitation is at Craven Funeral Home in Mount Gilead on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Snyder Funeral Homes in Mount Gilead is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Associa-tion.

Doris Walter

CAREY - Doris R. Walter, formerly of Carey and Wharton, and more recently of Snow Camp, N.C., died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at the Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Alamance, Graham, N.C. She was 82.
Born in Carey on July 17, 1922, she was a daughter of Ernest M. and Lida (McCleary) Beck. She married Harold W. Walter on July 19, 1941. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Troyer, Lake Andes, S.D.; and Connie Byers, Zebulon, N.C.; four sons, Neil, Lancaster; Kenneth, Piedmont, S.C.; Franklin, Snow Camp; and Wesley, West Jefferson, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Walter, Findlay; and a brother, Howard Beck, Carey. She was preceded in death by a grandchild; two sisters, Esther Fry and Pauline Filhart; and three brothers, Paul, Raymond and Nial Beck.
Mrs. Walter graduated from Wharton High School and was a homemaker.
She attended Burlington First Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Walter enjoyed making quilts and had a strong faith in God.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, with the Rev. J. Kevin Byers officiating. Burial will be in Zion Bloom Cemetery, Vanlue. Visitation is at the funeral home from 12-3 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bibles.

Evelyn Lewallen

FOSTORIA - Evelyn M. Lewallen, formerly of Wharton, died at 10:05 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community. She was 83. Born on Sept. 16, 1919, in Risingsun, she was a daughter of Thomas and Ida (Edgar) Walters. She married Robert E. Lewallen on March 6, 1937. He died May 13, 1979. Surviving are two sons, Tom, Cygnet, and Fred, Wharton; three daughters, Princess Edwards, Wayne; Gloria Bridenstine and Fay Bridenstine, both of Forest; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Roy and Harold; a grandchild; a brother, Evert Walters; and three sisters, Ella Stump, Edith Bankey and Erma Warner. A homemaker, Mrs. Lewallen helped on the family farm. She also was employed at Brinkman's Market in Arlington for eight years, and assisted many elderly individuals in the Wyandot County area during a 10-year period by preparing meals and providing transportation to the doctors' offices. Mrs. Lewallen formerly had been a member of Beach Grove Church near Carey. The funeral wil be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Revs. Rolland and Marjorie Srineharr officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Cemetery near Wayne. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.

Shirley Bartholomew

Shirley Ann Bartholomew, formerly of Upper Sandusky and Marion and who had resided at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Marion for the past year, died at 10:19 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Marion General Hospital. She was 66. Born in Upper Sandusky on Jan. 25, 1937, she was a daughter of William and Esther (Quaintance) Bartholomew. Surviving are her father and stepmother, Marion Bartholomew, Upper Sandusky; two half brothers, Charles Bartholomew, Upper Sandusky; and William Bartholomew, Jackson, N.J.; and a half sister, Martha Denney, Upper Sandusky. She was preceded in death by her mother. A 1955 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, Ms. Bartholomew retired in 1985 from the Wyandot County Department of Human Services. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ms. Bartholomew was a member of the Harpster Travel Club and volunteered for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, eating out, sharing time with friends and listening to country music. Graveside services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Old Mission Cemetery with the Rev. Julianne Smith officiating. Visitation is at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Wyandot County Heart Support Group or Heart of Ohio Dialysis in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Edna England

CAREY - Edna L. England, formerly of Carey and more recently of Bluffton, died at 9:37 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Richland Manor in Bluffton, at the age of 91. A daughter of Walter and Emma (Smith) Dible, she was born in Springville on Oct. 16, 1911. She married Charles England, and they later divorced. Surviving are two daughters, Naomi Ryder, Monroe, Mich.; and Nancy Brodman, Bluffton; 14 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances Zender and Esther Kauffman, both of Carey. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul; a grandson, Chad Gilica; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Susan Walters; and three brothers, Carl, Ralph and Napolean Dible. Mrs. England retired from Porcelain Products in Carey after 41 years. She attended Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carey. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, with interim Pastor Andrea Starn officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or the organization of the donor's choice in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey OH 43316.

Leslie McKinney

SYCAMORE - Leslie E. McKinney, 410 Indian Mill Drive Apt. 8, Upper Sandusky, died at 2:50 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2003, at the Wyandot County Nursing Home. He was 65. Born in Johnstown, Pa., on May 12, 1937, he was a son Joseph and Virginia (McKinney) Oldham. They survive in Sycamore. Also surviving are two stepsons, Jerry and Jeff Walter, both of Carey; three stepdaughters, Marla Ruminer and Joni Cress, both of Upper Sandusky; and Brenda Messmer, Carey; 15 stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his companion of 20 years, Dorothy Dixon. A detailer at Crow Motors in Upper Sandusky, Mr. McKinney retired in 1998 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Tiffin Church of the Nazarene. Mr. McKinney was a former member of the Carey Conservation Club and had attended the Ohio School for the Deaf. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and restoring cars. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, with the Rev. Brad Collette officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation is at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County.

Brian Boecher

KENTON - Brian L. Boecher, 44, of Kenton, died at 1:05 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2003, at his residence. Born April 7, 1959, in Kenton, he was a son of Robert and Gladys (Shick) Boecher. He married Brenda Rice on July 18, 1992, in Kenton. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Courtney Freshour, Upper Sandusky; and his mother in Kenton. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Craig Boecher. Mr. Boecher was a farmer. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Price Funeral Home in Kenton, with the Rev. Wade Melton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview McDonald Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.

Marjorie Swinehart

FAIRBORN - Marjorie A. Swinehart, Enon and formerly of Fairborn, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the Hospice of Dayton. She was 81. Born in Kenton on Dec. 19, 1921, she was a daughter of Ruhl and Blanch (Baker) Rager. She and Robert Glen Swinehart were married for 61 years. He survives. Also surviving are a son, David Swinehart, Xenia; daughter, Judy Frieler, Enon; five grandchildren, Kimberly Pena, Nashville, Tenn; Tamberly Hagler, Charlottesville, Va.; Joseph Swinehart, Austin, Texas; Chris Frieler, Dayton; and Beth Frieler, Enon; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Weber, Forest. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion and Willard Rager. Mrs. Swinehart formerly was employed with Elder-Beerman in Dayton and Staup Plumbing in Fairborn. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Fairborn. Mrs. Swinehart was a charter member of the Dayton Chapter of Americain Ex-Prisoners of War and also was a member of the Enon Garden Club. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ 821 N. Central Ave., Fariborn, with the Rev. John Konz officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery. Visitation is for an hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Belton Funeral Home in Fairborn is handling arrangements.

Barbara Smith

HUDSON, Ind. - Barbara Jean Smith, 75, died Friday, May 2, 2003, in Orland, Ind. Born in Upper Sandusky on Sept. 28, 1927, she was a daughter of Luke and Virginia (Brown) McClain. She married Lowell D. Smith, who died in 1988. Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Thomas Smith, Orland; and the Rev. Ralph Smith, Tokyo, Japan; two daughters, Lisa Ann Conry, Orland; and Kathleen Houf, Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Witham, Lima; and Marilyn Biederman, Galion; and a brother, James McClain, Upper Sandusky. Mrs. Smith was a retired nurse from Ross County Health Department. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Chillicothe, and of many religious and civic organizations in Ross County. Private graveside services will be conducted at a later date. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church Building Fund. Johnson Funeral Home in Hudson, Ind., is handling arrangements.

Clarence Tiell

Clarence "Clancy" E. Tiell, 5333 TH 36, Sycamore, died at Mount Carmel Hospital West in Columbus at 4:43 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2003. He was 62. Born in Adrian on Feb. 7, 1941, he was a son of Emery and Helen (Lucius) Tiell. He married Mary E. Cook on Feb. 15, 1962, in Jacksonville, N.C. She survives. Also surviving are his mother, Upper Sandusky; four sons, David, Prince Frederick, Md.; Paul, Guam, aboard the USS Frank Cable; Andrew, Forest; and Douglas, Sycamore; a daughter, Darlene Clinger, Louisville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Carl, Bowling Green; and two sisters, Carolyn Hehr, Upper Sandusky; and Sandra Tiell, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Robert and Frederick. A graduate of Salem Township Centralized School, Mr. Tiell was a Sycamore route driver for the Daily Chief-Union. Prior to that, he worked for McCarthy Stone Quarry and U.S. Concrete, and also was canteen manager for more than 11 years at AMVETS Post No. 777 in Upper Sandusky. Mr. Tiell was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving during the Cuban Crisis and the Bay of Pigs invasion. He attended St. Peter Catholic Church. Mr. Tiell was a life member of AMVETS No. 777 and was a former member of the VFW Post No. 2482, American Legion Post No. 250 and Moose Lodge No. 1093, all in Upper Sandusky. He enjoyed going to auctions, fishing, boating at Lake Erie, mowing the lawn and playing cards. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. James Holmer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, where the local military honor guard will conduct graveside rites. Visitation is at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or Wyandot County Heart Support Group in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Ean Riedlinger

MOUNT BLANCHARD - Private graveside services for Ean Robert Riedlinger were held Saturday at Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay. He was a son of Tammy and Dean Riedlinger, Mount Blanchard, and was stillborn Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay. His parents survive. Also surviving are three brothers, Roy and Tyler Rayl, and Lyle Riedlinger; three sisters, Lene Riedlinger and Brittany and Bethany Rayl; and grandparents David and Irene Riedlinger, Upper Sandusky; and Dominic and Dianne Fredo, Findlay. Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay handled arrangements.

Laurabel Markley

Laurabel Markley, formerly of Sycamore and more recently of Wyandot Manor Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 11:55 a.m. at Wyandot Memorial Hospital She was 80. Born in Eden Township on Sept. 24, 1922, she was a daughter of Jasper and Anna (Young) Markley. Surviving are a brother, Irvin Markley, Marion; two sisters, Esther Swartz, Bellevue; and Irene Gravage, Garden Grove, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Raymond and Lester Markley; and two sisters, Ruth Banks and Annabel Conkle. A 1941 graduate of Sycamore High School, Ms. Markley worked at the General Electric Lamp Plant in Bucyrus for 44 years. She retired in 1986. She was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She also was a past member of the former Deunquat Lutheran Church. Ms. Markley enjoyed crafts, crocheting and traveling. The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the organization of the donor's choice in care of Lucas Funeral Home, PO Box 207, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Beryl Smith-Michaels

Beryl Smith-Michaels, formerly of North Fifth Street in Upper Sandusky and more recently of Bradenton, Fla., died at 3:40 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at IHS Bradenton River Nursing Home in Bradenton. She was 77. Born on March 15, 1926, in Ilkeston Derbysire, England, she was a daughter of George and Gertrude (Fisher) Cooke. She married LaVern Smith on June 27, 1947. He died June 11, 1987. For the past three years, she had been married to John Michaels, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry Smith, Mason; and Scott Smith, Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Susan Smith, Findlay; a stepdaughter, Terry Pride, Arkansas; a stepson, Matt Michaels, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Edward Cooke, Derby, England. She was preceded in death by a brother, William. From 1973-88, Mrs. Smith-Michaels and her husband co-owned Richardson Flowers in Upper Sandusky. She was of Lutheran faith. Mrs. Smith-Michaels was proud of being a war bride and enjoyed walking, working with flowers, spending time with friends, fashion, dogs and cats, spending winters in Florida and traveling. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Geissinger officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, and Saturday morning prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County or Alzheimer's research in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Eric Beis

SYCAMORE - Eric E. "Rick" Beis, 6855 CH 16, Sycamore, died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, two miles south of Fostoria. He was 33. A son of Robert and Sandra (Corfman) Beis, he was born in Upper Sandusky on March 26, 1970. He married Jennifer Amert on Sept. 23, 2000. She survives in rural Sycamore. Also surviving are his parents in rural Sycamore; a sister, Tammy Beis, rural Sycamore; maternal grandparents, James and Luella Corfman, rural Nevada; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. A 1988 graduate of Mohawk High School, Mr. Beis was a high voltage line construction technician for Vaughn Industries in Carey, and was a certified journeyman. He formerly was employed at BF Walton and Sons Seed Co. in Upper Sandusky. He was a member of Smithville United Methodist Church. Mr. Beis enjoyed the outdoors, farming, collecting John Deere tractors, working on his 1949 Ford truck and taking it to car shows and building and fixing things. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, with the Revs. Kelly Brown and Sonja Bender officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Mohawk Community Library, obstetrics department of Wyandot Memorial Hospital or to the organization of the donor's choice.
