James Ruehle

James B. Ruehle, 300 Highland Parkway, Upper Sandusky, died at his residence on Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the age of 77. Born in Wyandot County on June 25, 1926, he was a son of Arthur and Lulu (Kemmerly) Ruehle. He is survived by two sisters, Ida Alberts, Tiffin; and Etta Lawrence, Palm Harbour, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Ruehle; and four sisters, Aleta Roberts, Helen Menningen, Mary Shull and Minia Ruehle. Mr. Ruehle retired as manager of the former Bud's Sunoco and Sporting Goods. He had worked part-time for Dave Huffman Plumbing and Excavating. He also was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Ruehle was in charge of the former Bud's Social Club, and was a member of the Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club and the Wyandot County Coon Hunters Association. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting and raccoon hunting. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Steward officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Wyandot County Home Health Agency, the Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club, the Wyandot County Coon Hunter's Association or the organization of the donor's choice in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Eleanor Householder

Eleanor Mae Householder, formerly of 555 Dolly Ave., Upper Sandusky, died at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 1:35 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2004. She was 83. Born on May 8, 1920 in Fostoria, she was a daughter of Arthur and Ora (Henning) Sowers. She married Robert R. Householder on July 19, 1939, in Indiana. He died Sept. 17, 1980. Surviving are three daughters, Sharyn Warfel, Upper Sandusky; Sue Smith, Delaware; and Marsha Swinehart, Wooster; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Defiance; and Jean Steyer, Fostoria. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Chaplin. A 1938 graduate of Fostoria High School and a 1941 graduate of the Maumee Valley School of Nursing in Toledo, Mrs. Householder was a registered nurse at Fostoria City Hospital and Wyandot Memorial Hospital. She also was the owner of Midwest Ohio Tool Co. She was a member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church and of its United Methodist Women. Mrs. Householder was a past member of the Warpole Chapter No. 366 Order of the Eastern Star and of the Alpha Chapter of Tri-Sigma Sorority. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Geissinger officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mark Conley

CAREY - Mark A. Conley, 212 Pine Tree Drive, Carey, died at Eaglewood Care Center at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004. He was 41. Born in Johnson County, Ky., on Dec. 18, 1962, he was a son of William D. and Josephine (Blair) Conley. Surviving are a son, Earl Douglas, Kirby; his mother, Carey; five brothers, Bryan, Bucyrus; Tim, Alabama; Frank, Chris and Bill, all of Carey; and a sister, Lisa Conley, Carey. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Conley worked as a laborer at ADT and Molton in Findlay, and Consolidated Biscuit Co. in McComb. He was of Protestant faith. Mr. Conley was a member of the Sons of the American Legion No. 344, Carey. He enjoyed collecting comic books and baseball cards for many years, and fishing the rivers and ponds around Wyandot County. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Brett Layne officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Mark A. Conley Memorial Fund in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey 43316.

Evelyn Hempy

FOREST - Evelyn J. Hempy, 0320 CR 207, Forest, died at 11:16 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton, at the age of 84. A daughter of Ernest and Waive (Hord) Unger, she was born in Kenton on Jan. 30, 1920. She and R. Warren Hempy were married on Aug. 27, 1940. He died May 21, 1994. Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Hempy-Gordon, Kenton; and Ginny Hempy-Schnaidt, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Unger, Sacramento, Calif. Mrs. Hempy was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Forest, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and trustee. Mrs. Hempy was a charter member of the Forest Mothers' Club, a member of the Kenton Elks, Red Hat Society and participated in two bridge clubs. She enjoyed doing crafts, cooking and attending Ohio State football games. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shields Funeral Home in Forest, with the Rev. Rex Roth officiating. Burial will be in Hueston Cemetery, Forest. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Forest.

Evelyn Geary

SYCAMORE - Evelyn Alice Geary, formerly of the Sycamore area, died at 2:48 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 94. Born in Sycamore Township on Sept. 3, 1909, she was a daughter of Chester A. and Alice May (Ohl) Riedel. She married Glen Geary on March 7, 1928. He died Mary 5, 1990. Surviving are four daughters, Marcile McBride, Forest; Twila Walton, rural Upper Sandusky; Jocelyn Risley, rural Sycamore; and Patsy Cline, Tiffin; two sons, Chester, Sycamore; and Jed, Upper Sandusky; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn Smith, rural Sycamore. She was preceded in death by four brothers. After attending Sycamore High School, Mrs. Geary was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church and its Ambassador Sunday School Class. She also played piano at the church for many years. Mrs. Geary also was a member of the Mohawk Sixty-Plus Club and a charter member of the Sycamore Garden Club. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Sycamore United Methodist Church with the Revs. Kelly Brown and Orion Aubihl officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation is Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, and from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Sycamore United Metho-dist Church or the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Helen Bell

NEVADA - Helen M. Bell of Welsh Street, Nevada, and a resident of Heartland of Bucyrus for the past few years, died at Heartland at 1:44 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004. She was 91. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, on Jan. 26, 1913, she was a daughter of Charles E. and Anna Belle (Larson) White. She married Frank W. McCreary on Nov. 17, 1930, in Urbana, Ill. He died Jan. 4, 1960. She and Orville Bell were married on Nov. 24, 1963. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Frances Fout-Nell, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren, Arthur Fout, Nevada; Pamela Puralewski, Dryridge, Ky.; and Kathleen Trickey, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond White; and two sisters, Pauline Park and Ruth White. Mrs. Bell was a homemaker and at one time worked as a nurse's aide for Berwin-MacNeal Hospital in Chicago. She was affiliated with Good Hope Lutheran Church in Bucyrus, and formerly was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Marion. She sang in the choir there. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed music, especially singing, playing the piano and organ, sewing and writing poetry. A memorial service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Harold Hasenauer officiating. Visitation is for an hour prior to the service at the church. Anna Jane Bibbee

Anna Jane Bibbee, formerly of Nevada and a resident of Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community since 1985, died at Fairhaven at 12:45 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, at the age of 76. A daughter of Riley and Mary Alice (Heil) Bibbee, she was born in Crane Township on Sept. 1, 1927. She is survived by a special friend, Pat Williams of Upper Sandusky. Ms. Bibbee attended Nevada schools. She enjoyed collecting Shirley Temple dolls, her animal collection and writing and receiving letters. She also was a fan of Renfro Valley. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Old Mission Cemetery with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Visitation is from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Arthur Harper

Arthur W. Harper, formerly of the Upper Sandusky-Marseilles area and more recently of Marysville, died at his niece's residence in Marysville at 11:15 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2004. He was 79. Born in Delaware County on June 5, 1924, he was a son of James A. and Viola (Wygle) Harper. He and Nellie Faye Wood were married on May 23, 1946, in Harpster. She died May 30, 1994. Many nieces and nephews survive. Mr. Harper worked at the LaRue Tile Company for 11 years. He also helped others with their farming. He enjoyed his dogs and animals in general. Graveside services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in York Street Cemetery, Marseilles Township, with the Rev. Louis Shuster officiating. Visitation is from 12-2 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Memorials may be made to Marysville Mobile Meals in care of Lucas Funeral Home, PO Box 207, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Phyllis Baker

CAREY - Phyllis E. Baker, formerly of 595 Betty Lou St., Upper Sandusky, died at 7:46 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. She was 76. Born in Wharton on Aug. 15, 1927, she was a daughter of Virgil W. and Bertha Bell (Duffield) Bowman. She married Carlos G. Baker on Sept. 15, 1945, in Greenup, Ky. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Bonni Long and Carla Jean Latham, Upper Sandusky; and Lynn Baker, Aloha, Ore.; three grandchildren, Eric Long, Gahanna; and Cara and Kelly Bennett, Upper Sandusky; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Meredith Long; a half brother, Ralph Bowman; and a half sister, Ruth VanBuren. A 1945 graduate of Wharton High School, Mrs. Baker retired in 1988 from the Wyandot County Auditor's Office after 20 years of service. She was a member of John Stewart United Methodist Church and its hospital guild. Mrs. Baker was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge in Wharton and its Past Noble Grand's group. She was a member and past president of the former Tri-G Mothers League, and was a former Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. She and her husband bowled in the Rough and Tough League at Mount Idy Lanes in Carey for 20 years. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Wyandot Squares and enjoyed crocheting and ceramics. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wharton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Searfoss officiating. Visitation is at the church from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the Wharton United Methodist Church. Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Adelene Brodman

Adelene B. Brodman, 7562 TH 103, Carey, died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004, at the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home. She was 85. Born in Fort Jennings on June 4, 1918, she was a daughter of Otto and Cecilia (Elwer) Hellman. She and John L. Brodman were married Oct. 24, 1953, in Delphos. He died Oct. 24, 1980. Surviving are four sons, John and Dave, Upper Sandusky; and Paul and Mark, Carey; six grandchildren, Joe, Keith, Jessica, Ryan, Kip and Kevin Brodman; and three sisters, Clara Lindstrom, Ventura, Calif.; Sister Mary Cyrilla, Norwalk; and Agnes Szpila, Southampton, Pa. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Grew and Martha Brehmer. A 1936 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School, Mrs. Brodman was a homemaker and assisted with the family farm. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem Township, and was a former member of its Rosary Altar Society. Mrs. Brodman enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, sewing, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Revs. Kent Kaufman and Ernest Waechter officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation is at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, and prayer Scripture will be read at 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Diabetes Association or the Scleroderma Foundation in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

R. Wayne Palmer

SYCAMORE - R. Wayne Palmer, 87, of 8760 S. Ohio 53, McCutchenville, died at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004. Born in Melmore on May 26, 1916, he was a son of George W. and Aleta (Kisor) Palmer. He married Edith F. Bell on June 30, 1945. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Ruth Stephens, Worland, Wyo.; Janet Bird, Elyria; Carol Castillo, Weslaco, Texas; and Helen Rhoad, rural McCutchenville; a son, Richard, Findlay; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maxine Weininger, rural McCutchenville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kendal; and two sisters, Beatrice Weininger and Eileen Burgderfer. A 1934 graduate of McCutchenville High School, Mr. Palmer was a retired farmer and also was retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in Seneca County. He was a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army's 8th Air Force during World War II. He was the flying crew chief and top turret gunner, flying 33 missions out of England. Mr. Palmer earned the distinguished flying cross and air medal. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville. Mr. Palmer was a former member of McCutchen Grange No. 2360, and enjoyed gardening, especially raising sweet corn and tomatoes. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville, with the Rev. Roy Howell officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Seneca County Veterans' Council. Visitation is Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, and from 10-11 a.m. at the church Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ, Wyandot Health Foundation or the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Florinne Tate

CAREY - Florinne Helen Tate, formerly of Findlay and more recently of 2308 Ohio 568, Carey, died at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Birchaven Retirement Village in Findlay. She was 87. A daughter of Charles and Ethel (Richards) Gillespie, she was born in Hancock County on July 29, 1916. She married Charles M. Tate in 1935. He died Jan. 11, 1982. Surviving are two sons, C. Ronald, Grand Junction, Colo.; and James, Riverton, Wyo.; three daughters, Linda Patterson and Sue Schiltz, Findlay; and Barb Mewhorter, Carey; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Abrams, Grand Junction. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jean Tate; and a sister, Treva Wyer. Mrs. Tate was a housewife and a caregiver at Wine-brenner Haven in Findlay. She attended the College Church of God in Findlay. Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, with the Rev. James Sharrett officiating. Visitation is private. Memorials may be made to the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library in Findlay.

Agnes Colley

Agnes H. Colley, 408 W. Walker St., Upper Sandusky, died at 12:47 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home. She was 84. Born in McDonald, Pa., on Oct. 26, 1919, she was a daughter of Jacob and Frances (Pickulick) Hook. She married George Colley on April 15, 1967, in McDonald. He survives. Also surviving are four sisters, Angela McGreevy, Frances Hospodar, Leona Shimek and Mildred Dhanse, all of McDonald. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Mrs. Colley and her husband owned and operated the former Upper Specialty Advertising Agency from 1974-97. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. There is no visitation, and Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Upper Sandusky Lions Club in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Kathleen Fisher

DALLAS - Kathleen Fisher, 79, of Dallas, died at Baylor Hospital, Friday, May 28, 2004. Born in Upper Sandusky on Oct. 1, 1924, she was a daughter of George T. and Helen (Griffth) Denman. She married Carl F. Fisher on Dec. 18, 1948. He preceded her in death. Surviving are her mother in Upper Sandusky; a son, Kurt Fisher, Dallas; granddaughter, Sabrina Fisher, Dallas; and a brother, R. Joseph Denman, Harpster. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Fisher graduated from Oberlin College in 1946 and went to work for IBM as its first female instructor. After she and her husband retired to Dallas, she became a real estate broker and professional Realtor trainer. Most recently, Mrs. Fisher was the director of training and development for Uptown Realtors and Tony Curtis Realtors, both in Dallas. She was a member of First Community Church in Dallas, and served on its general board and played in the bell choir. Mrs. Fisher volunteered and held leadership positions in numerous organizations in Palos Verdes, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Austin, Texas; and Lake Forest, Ill. Services will be private. Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to The National Kidney Foundation, 5429 LBJ Freeway, Suite 630, Dallas TX 75240.

Richard Dible

CAREY - Richard F. "Dickey/Fred" Dible, 62, died at 8:49 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his residence, 119 E. Brown Ave., Carey. A son of Harry J. and Arlette Rose (Kromer) Dible, he was born in Carey on March 13, 1942. He and Linda Caudill were married Aug. 18, 1961. She survives. Also surviving are his mother and stepfather, Hager Bowling, Carey; two sons, Rodney, rural Carey; and Richard, Melmore; a daughter, Karen Jones, Carey; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; five brothers, Larry, Dennis and Raymond, Carey; James, Fostoria; and Rick, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Joanne Traxler, Galion; and Lorrie Ann Turner, Casa Grande, Ariz.; a stepbrother, Daniel Bowling, Carey; and a stepsister, Carolyn Altvater, rural Carey. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Thomas; and a stepsister, Nancy Marvin. Mr. Dible was a retired tool and die maker at Honeywell in Fostoria. He was a member of the UAW in Fostoria. He was of Lutheran faith. Mr. Dible was a bluegrass musician. He enjoyed carpentry and car restoration. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Beach Funeral Home in Carey, with interim pastor Lori Ann Strang officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of Wyandot County, North-west Ohio Diabetes Associa-tion or Hospice of Wyandot County.

Elizabeth Hall

SYCAMORE - Elizabeth "Betty" A. Hall, 2676 CH 39, Sycamore, died in Shiloh, Ill., on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the age of 82. Born in Munising, Mich., on July 1, 1921, she was a daughter of Theodore and Suzette (Berube) Scholtes. She married Paul Hall. He died April 26, 1986. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Lunan, Shiloh; and Barbara Hall, Fayette-ville, N.C.; a son, Charles, Delaware; five grandchildren, Beth and Eric Lunan, and Steve, Mike and Dan Hall; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ted Scholtes, Munising; and a sister, Terese Chopp, Marine City, Mich. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Mrs. Hall served in the U.S. Army. She was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ. Mrs. Hall also was a member of the Sycamore American Legion Post Auxiliary No. 250, Sycamore Little Theatre and Mohawk Lioness Club. A memorial service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Diane Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation is from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department and EMS.

Julia Turner

VAN WERT - Julia B. Turner of Van Wert, and formerly of Upper Sandusky, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Convoy Care Center in Convoy. She was 96. Born Dec. 31, 1907, in Crane Township, she was a daughter of Martin and Mary (Von Blon) Courtad. On Dec. 2, 1950, she married Perry W. Turner. He died July 1, 1968. Surviving are a son, Gary, Columbus; a daughter, Sheila Deal, Wren; a brother, Don Courtad, Upper Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. Mrs. Turner was a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Toledo. She was a lifelong registered nurse, serving as a county health nurse, tuberculosis sanitarium nurse and at the Van Wert County Hospital on the obstetric floor. Mrs. Turner was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. A private family graveside service will take place at Hueston Cemetery in Forest. Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert is handling arrangements.
