Paul Mack Jr.
CAREY - Paul A. Mack Jr., 237 1/2 W. Findlay St., Carey, died at 4:01 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, at his residence. He was 39. Born in Lancaster on Nov. 29, 1964, he was a son of Paul A. "Brandy" Sr. and Shirley Mack. He and Jessica A. Hagerman were married Sept. 2, 2000, at Crawford United Methodist Church in Crawford. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Christine, Lancaster; his mother, Shirley Mack-Konkler, and stepfather, Jerry Konkler, Lancaster; and a brother, Brian Mack, Logan. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Tammy Mack; and a half brother, Robert Moore. Mr. Mack was a millwright for Vaughn Welding and Fabrication in Alvada. He was a member of the Carey Conservation Club, where he was director of the 22 shoot for the past two years. Mr. Mack enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking over an open fire and golfing. He was a Dale Earnhardt and Dallas Cowboys fan. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Sheridan Funeral Home in Lancaster. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster. Harold Shull
SANDY, Utah - Harold F. Shull of Sandy, Utah, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at the age of 96. He was a son of Joseph M. and Agnes A. (VanHorn) Shull, and was born on Jan. 10, 1908. Surviving are two daughters, Betty Roeven, Bristol, Tenn.; and Carol White, Holiday, Utah; five grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Shull, Upper Sandusky; and a sister, Mary Fisher, Lenox, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; four sister, Erma Himler, Ethel Samuelson, Edith McCoy and Esther Shull; and five brothers, Russell, Howard, Harry, Arthur and Clayton Shull. Mr. Shull was a veteran of World War II, having served 4 1/2 years in the U.S. Army and three years in foreign service. He was a painter and an interior decorator.
Mary Teynor
BUCYRUS - Mary Teynor, formerly of Bucyrus and more recently of Columbus, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, at her son's home in Columbus. She was 86. A daughter of Jessie and Ella (Batinfield) Miller, she was born on Feb. 18, 1918. She and George L. Teynor Jr. were married in 1953. He died April 20, 1991. Surviving are a son, George III, Columbus; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua; a stepgrandchild, Jessie; a brother, Robert Miller, Upper Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson. Mrs. Teynor graduated from Carey High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Ronald LeJeune officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Marge Ekleberry
SYCAMORE - Marge Ekleberry, 65, of 2106 TH 136, Sycamore, died at her residence at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004. Born in Bellefontaine on Dec. 23, 1938, she was a daughter of Raymond O. and Beatrice L. (Wentz) Wallace. She married Richard D. Ekleberry on Dec. 25, 1956, in Sycamore. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Debra Lee and Pamela Leeth, rural Sycamore; a son, Steve, rural Sycamore; eight grandchildren, Matthew Lee, Lindsay Lee, Joshua Ekleberry, Richard Ekleberry II, Andrew Ekleberry, Chandra Leeth, Danielle Leeth and Richard "Bud" Leeth; a brother, Raymond Wallace Jr., Bellefontaine; and two sisters, Marcella McCoy and Lorraine Wallace, Tucson, Ariz. A 1956 graduate of Sycamore High School, Mrs. Ekleberry was the treasurer for Sycamore Telephone Co. and Sycamore Cellular Telephone Co. She attended Sycamore United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ekleberry was a charter member of the Sycamore EMS and also assisted her husband in getting the first ambulance for Sycamore. She was a former Sycamore EMS captain. Mrs. Ekleberry was a sports fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt. She bowled in the Monday night and Wednesday morning leagues in Sycamore. She enjoyed traveling in her motor home to all 48 continental states, especially to Arizona to see her sisters. She enjoyed music, especially playing the piano, going to Lake Erie and gardening wild flowers, which made the cover of the 2004 Sycamore telephone book. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore with the Rev. George Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation is Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. John Hook
John C. Hook, formerly of 1045 Halbedel Drive and Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton. He was 71. Born in Upper Sandusky on Feb. 20, 1933, he was a son of Carl F. and Cynthia J. (Kasler) Hook. He and June Hook Boyer were married March 20, 1964, in Mount Gilead. They later divorced. Surviving are three sons, Joe, Bucyrus; Jim, Forest; and Jay, Carey; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Luella Traxler, Upper Sandusky; June Wardon, Texas; and Mabel Hook, Fostoria. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Lloyd Hook. Mr. Hook worked at Eaton Corp. in Marion for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War in the military police division. He attended First Baptist Church in Upper Sandusky. Mr. Hook was a past member of the BASS Angler Association. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, and his 1987 GMC pickup. Graveside services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Nevada Cemetery, where local veterans' organizations will conduct military graveside honors. The Rev. Ron Renauro will officiate. June Howard
June M. Howard, 483 Shafer Drive, Upper San-dusky, died at the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home at the age of 68 at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004. A daughter of Kenneth J. and Iola J. (Ulrich) Delaplane, she was born in Wyandot County on June 19, 1936. She married Daniel M. Howard on Feb. 5, 1955, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Donald, Findlay; and Steven, Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Vickie Gottfried and Connie Wall, Upper Sandusky; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Gene Delaplane, Dowingtown, Pa. A 1954 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, Mrs. Howard attended Mount Carmel Nursing School in Columbus. She worked at Kroger's during high school and was a homemaker. She had been employed at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home for five years, The Daily Chief-Union, U Brand for nine years and retired as a nursing assistant from Wyandot Manor Nursing Home after nine years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and of the women of the church. Mrs. Howard was a member of Beta Chapter Tri-Sigma Sorority, the adult trip planner and hostess for the Wyandot Seniors and was a former member of the Elks Emblem Club. She enjoyed camping and had traveled throughout the United States and other countries, going on cruises and spending nine winters in Florida. Mrs. Howard collected cardinals, enjoyed music, playing cards and other games, enjoyed being with little children and pet dogs. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bringman-Clark and Co. Willis Moler
Willis C. "WC" Moler, formerly of Marion and more recently of Bloomville, died at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004. He was 80. Born in Marion on Dec. 2, 1923, he was a son of Theodore and May (Tyo) Moler. He married Betty Marie Neff in her parents' home in Brush Ridge on Oct. 4, 1947. She died July 30, 1990. He and Irene Stiger Pope were married Dec. 21, 1991, at St. John's Baseline UCC in Bloomville. She died March 4, 2004. Surviving are a son, David, Marion; three daughters, Julia Fisher, Linda Moler and Esther Tubbs, Marion; a stepdaughter, Marcia Keirns, Bloomville; two stepsons, Gerald Pope, Rennes, France; and Larry Pope, Bloomville; five grandchildren, Natalie Echevarria, North Carolina; Emily Ledwell, North Carolina; Matthew Thompson, Marion; Kelly Detweiler, Farmington Hills, Mich.; and David Moler, Marion; 11 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry, Lexington, Ky. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul; and a niece. Mr. Moler was employed by the Erie Railroad from 1942-53 as a train car repairman. He was employed at Gledhill Lumber in Galion and then worked at Baldauf Lumber from 1966 until his retirement in 1991. He also farmed in northern Marion County. Mr. Moler was a 1942 graduate of Marion Harding High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He attended Prospect Street United Methodist Church in Marion, and at one time attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Galion. Mr. Moler was a member of the Marion F&AM Lodge No. 70, Marion Chapter No. 62 Royal Arch Masons, Marion Council No. 22 Royal and Select Masons, Marion Commandery No. 36 Knights of Templar and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus. He was a past eminent commander of Marion Commandery No. 36 and of Knights Templar of Ohio. He enjoyed woodworking, reading the Bible and history, needlepoint, making hooked rugs and flower and vegetable gardening. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Ross officiating. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery, Brush Ridge. Phyllis Cooper
BUCYRUS - Phyllis Geraldine "Ma" Cooper, 65, of Attica, died Friday morning, July 2, 2004, near Attica. Born on May 14, 1939, in Burtonville, Ky., she was a daughter of Johnny H. and Christine (Cox) McKee. She married James Ralph Cooper in May 1959. He died May 17, 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Debra Lykins, Vanceburg, Ky.; four sons, Michael, Bucyrus; David, Attica; Keith, Norwalk; and Tracey, Willard; nine grandchildren, Tabby Walters, Kelly Craig, Shaun, Michael, James, Susan, Brittany, Tucker "Ralph Jr." and Bailey Cooper; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bev Goldsberry, Bucyrus; Jeanie Doll, Franklin; and Donna Hoy, Bucyrus; and a brother, Jeff McKee, Carey. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Eva Kay and three infants; and a brother, Howard "Shorty" McKee. Mrs. Cooper was a factory worker for many years and last worked at MTD in Willard. She moved to the Carrothers and Attica areas in 1973. She attended the Ripley Chapel in Greenwich, and the Wrights Chapel in Garrison, Ky. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed bluegrass music, auctions and horse racing. The funeral was today at 1 p.m. at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Ky., with the Revs. Clarence Hall and Joe Walter officiating. Burial was in Cooper/Willis Cemetery. Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home in Bucyrus handled local arrangements.
Dorothy Gardner
CAREY - Dorothy L. Gardner, formerly of 531 S. Patterson St., Carey, died at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 11:10 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2004. She was 95. A daughter of Delos B. and R. Viola (Shue) Lusk, she was born in Carey on June 22, 1909. She married Robert S. Gardner on Sept. 15, 1928. He died Aug. 29, 1987. Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Hendricks, rural Vanlue; and Sara Long, St. Mary's; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a nephew. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.. Mrs. Gardner graduated from Carey High School in 1928, and was a homemaker. She attended Grace United Methodist Church, Carey. Mrs. Gardner taught fourth-grade Sunday school there and also was a member of the United Methodist Women. There will be a private family graveside service in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, with the Rev. James Sharrett officiating. Stombaugh-Batton Fu-neral Home in Carey is handling arrangements. Robert Robey
HILLIARD - Robert L. Robey, 85, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at Mayfair Village. Mr. Robey was a son of Robert and Beulah Robey. He was married to his wife, Hilda, for 58 years. Surviving are two children, Bonnie Rawn and Bruce Robey; three grandchildren, Amy Wild, Lisa Bentivegna and Nicholas Robey; two great-grandsons; a brother, Paul; and a sister, Dorothy Daron. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Richard; and a sister, Betty Harrigan. Mr. Robey was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Hilliard Presby-terian Church. Mr. Robey also was a member of Northwest/Tri-Village Shrine Club, Aladdin Temple Shrine and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard. Visitation is at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and for an hour before the service Thursday. Mary McCreary
Mary E. McCreary of Upper Sandusky, died at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004, at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community at the age of 88. Born in Mifflin Township on March 20, 1916, she was the daughter of Harpster and Nellie J. (McClain) Taylor. She and Lloyd McCreary were married in Mount Gilead on Dec. 25, 1941. He died March 20, 1955. Surviving are two sons, Gary and Jay, Upper Sandusky; six grandchildren, Brian McCreary and Michael Breidenbach, Upper Sandusky; Lori Lavery and Ian McCreary, Columbus; Holly McCreary, Marion; and Angela Ford, McCutchenville; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a foster brother, Arthur Rowse. A 1934 graduate of Harpster High School, Mrs. McCreary was a homemaker and managed the family farm. At one time, she was a cosmetologist and served as a retail clerk for the former Artz Department Store for several years. She was a 50-year member of Harpster United Methodist Church, and was active in the Young at Heart Sunday school class and United Methodist Women. Mrs. McCreary was a member of the Harpster Senior Citizens, Belles and Boys Mothers Club, the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society Auxiliary and the Republican Women's Association of Wyandot County. She enjoyed going to the Upper Sandusky High School boys and girls basketball games, sewing and crocheting. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Harpster United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jackie Underhill and David Rohrer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Norma Moon
Norma J. Moon, 82, formerly of Wyandot County and more recently of Oberlin, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at the Welcome Nursing Home. Surviving are her husband, A. James Moon, Oberlin; five daughters, Anita Meyers, New Baltimore, Mich.; Louise Franklin, North Branch, Mich.; Mary Kay Pierce, Flushing, Mich.; Cynthia Taczak, Reston, Va.; and Jane Snodgrass, Wellington; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Russell Myers, Defiance; and a sister, Kathryn Wireman, Monroe. She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Elyria. Mrs. Moon played the bassoon for many community bands and orchestras, and enjoyed gardening. Services were held at Community of Christ Church in Elyria. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Cowling Funeral Home, 228 S. Main St., Oberlin, handled arrangements.
Beulah Shearer
Beulah O. Shearer, formerly of South Eighth Street, died at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004. She was 88. Born in Greenup County, Ky., on Nov. 30, 1915, she was a daughter of Jeff and Mary Ellen (Hamilton) Harlow. She married Howard M. Shearer on Jan. 27, 1936, in Carter County, Ky. He died Aug. 8, 2001. Surviving are two sons, Carl, Upper Sandusky; and Larry, Avery, Texas; two daughters, Shirley Fox, Upper Sandusky; and Donna Murphy, Angleton, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and Raymond Harlow, Florida; and six sisters, Eula Glass, Ypsilanti, Mich.; Violet Hall, Florida; Betty Ross, Chesapeake; Carrie Cecil and Stella Clark, Grayson, Ky.; and Letha Allen, Greenup, Ky. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald; five brothers, Harvey, David, Norman, John and Ernest Harlow; and a sister, Essie Mae Flannery. Mrs. Shearer was a homemaker. She was a member of the former First Church of God. Mrs. Shearer enjoyed sewing with the ladies of the church, vegetable and flower gardening, crocheting and embroidering. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home with the Rev. Lane Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Carter Couch
Carter M. Couch, 07194 Maumee St., Harpster, died at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004. He was 83. A son of Thornton W. and Molly M. (Melton) Couch, he was born in Leslie County, Ky., on July 4, 1921. He married Sara B. Campbell on May 7, 1944. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Graham, Robert and Berford, all of Harpster; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Couch retired from Glen Gary Brick in Morral, where he was a laborer. He also had worked at the former Motor Products in Marion. He attended the Little Sandusky Bible Church. Mr. Couch was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed gardening, driving to Amish country and visiting with the Amish. Family graveside services will be Friday in Little Sandusky Cemetery in rural Harpster, with the Rev. Tim McGuire officiating. Paul Reinhart
TIFFIN - Paul V. Reinhart, 63, of Tiffin, died at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin on Tuesday, July 6, 2004. Born in Seneca County on Feb. 28, 1941, he was a son of Vincent and Cora (Scherger) Reinhart. He married Pauline R. Collet on June 10, 1967, at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Carey. She survives. Also surviving are his mother in Bascom; two daughters, Elaine McCoy and Kimberly Gray, Tiffin; a son, Christopher, Strongsville; four grandchildren, Garrett and Logan McCoy, Tiffin; and Brendan and Kayla Reinhart, Strongsville; and four brothers, Roger, Merle, David and Thomas, all of Bascom. A 1959 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School, Mr. Reinhart graduated from Tiffin University in 1961. He worked for General Electric for 24 years as a setup man. He later worked for Ameriwood for 15 years as a tow motor operator and setup man. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Reinhart was a member of the Knights of Columbus, farm bureau and was a supervisor and board of directors member for the St. Joseph Credit Union. He played the accordion, collected farm toys and was a Cleveland Indians fan. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Depinet officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin. Gatha Blankenship
Gatha Ellen Blankenship, formerly of South Eighth Street, Upper Sandusky, and Rockcastle, W.Va., died at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home at 11:40 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2004. She was 95. Born in Rockcastle on Oct. 30, 1908, she was a daughter of John B. and Hannah (Rhodes) Parsons. She and William L. Blankenship were married in Parkersburg, W.Va., on Aug. 31, 1935. He died May 2, 1980. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter. Mrs. Blankenship was a homemaker. She was of Methodist faith, and was active in the church before moving to Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Blankenship enjoyed researching and working with family genealogy. A graveside service will be in Fairplain Cemetery in Fairplain, W.Va., on Sunday at 2 p.m. Visitation is at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, W.Va., from 6-8 p.m. Saturday. Doris Stah
l Doris Jean Stahl, Mount Blanchard, died at approximately 1:30 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the intersection of U.S. 15 and Country Road 8 in Hancock County. She was 70. Born in Gallipolis on July 21, 1933, she was a daughter of Dewey and Alta (Williams) Wooten. She married Edward Annestedt and later Glenn Swindler, both of whom preceded her in death. She and Richard Stahl were married Dec. 20, 1999. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Andrea Culley, Upper Sandusky; and Jennifer Stump, Findlay; three stepsons, Jeff McQuiston, Findlay; and Roger and Mark McQuiston, Bluffton; four stepdaughters, Linda Brown, LaRue; Judy Dauterman, Upper Sandus-ky; and Denise Davidson and Kathy Young, Findlay; five grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Wooten, Marion; and a sister, Paula Rodeheaver, Upper Sandusky. She was preceded in death by a stepgrandchild and a brother, George Hurley. A 1951 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, Mrs. Stahl was an operator for Ohio Bell for 14 years. She had worked as a nurse's aide at the Wyandot County Nursing Home, had been employed at McDonald's in Upper Sandusky and Ruby Tuesday in Findlay, and had cleaned at Bridgestone APM Co. in Findlay. She attended First Baptist Church in Forest. Mrs. Stahl enjoyed doing ceramics and reading. Graveside services were held Saturday morning in Riverview Cemetery in Mount Blanchard, with the Rev. Michael Hanna officiating. Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home handled local arrangements.
