Mary Alice Reed
TIFFIN - Mary Alice Reed of Perrysburg, died at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg on July 21, 2004. She was 63.
Born in Republic on March 21, 1941, she was a daughter of Oscar and Florence (Boes) Ball of Tiffin. She married Danny Reed in 1974. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Tiffin; three daughters, Rose Case, Toledo; Tammie Keckler at home; and Ann Lutz, Florida; a son, Patrick Fitschen, Tiffin; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Art, Larry and Joe Ball, all of Tiffin; four sisters, Eugenia Smith, Fostoria; Maggie Lee and Rita Bohrer, Bloomville; and Martha Kent, Tiffin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, and three other family members, Oscar Ball, Helen Stone, Donald Fitschen Ball and Gerald Stone.
Mrs. Reed was a 1959 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School, and was a homemaker.
She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mrs. Reed enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, cooking and canning, reading, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin, with the Rev. James Say officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Garden. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Helen McKee
FOREST - Helen M. McKee, 201 E. Daisy St., Forest, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Findlay. She was 89.
Born in Forest on April 24, 1915, she was the daughter of Solman and Elsie (Harman) Naus. She married Fred D. McKee on Aug. 8, 1935. He died March 30, 1982.
Surviving are five sons, Lawrence, Robert and Frank, Forest; Dan, Findlay; and Charles, Kenton; four daughters, Dorthy Laing, Lima; Marge Burkholder, Forest; Alice Wilson, Findlay; and Ruth Erickson, Ada; 29 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, S. Edward and Robert Naus.
Mrs. McKee graduated from Forest High School in 1934. She was a homemaker and a former member of Forest United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shields Funeral Home in Forest, with the Rev. Brett Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Hueston Cemetery, Forest. Visitation is Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edward Boes
CAREY - Edward J. Boes, 82, 14490 TH 27, Carey, died at 6:26 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Marion General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Mansfield to Fred and Cecelia (Theis) Boes. He married Marie T. Neff on May 1, 1948, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert and Bernie, both of Carey; and Jon, North Lewisburg; four daughters, Anne Mulcahy, Bowie, Md.; Jean Mitsch, Carey; Mary Lou Yarch, Sellersburg, Ind., and Betty Gottfried, Upper Sandusky; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Mary Kreinbrink, Findlay.
A 1939 graduate of New Riegel High School, Mr. Boes was a self-employed milk hauler for 30 years and retired in 1987 after working 12 years at Guardian Indus-tries in Upper Sandusky.
He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey; Knights of Columbus Carey Council No. 1925, and Wyandot County Farm Bureau. He bowled in the Wednesday night league at Mt. Idy Lanes for many years.
A memorial Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at the basilica, the Rev. Regis Schlagcheck officiating. Visitation will be private, with private burial services held at a later date.

Alge, Barbara Ann, 67
Arlington
A private funeral service for Barbara Ann Alge is planned. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
She died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Findlay, to Robert and Annabelle (Radabaugh) Hindall. On May 28, 1955, she married Allen D. Alge and he survives.
Also surviving are a son, Douglas A. of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Marilyn (Darl) Waltermire of Arlington; a step-mother, Ruth Ellen Hindall of Florida; two half-brothers, Jack (Linda) Hindall of Toledo and James (Diane) Hindall of Florida; and two half-sisters, Susan (Ed) Davis of Findlay and Cindy (Junior) Saldana of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Eugene Hindall.
She formerly worked at Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. and RCA in Findlay. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church in Findlay and volunteered for the Nearly New Shop of the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center Auxiliary.

Brooks, George Franklin, 84
Circleville
Services for George Franklin Brooks will be 11 a.m. Friday at Byhalia Cemetery.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2004, at Logan Elm Heath Care, Circleville.
He was born May 25, 1920, in Union County to John H. and Maude Mae Wright Brooks. He married Audrey Creamer in January, 1941 and they later divorced and she preceded him in death. He married Eliza "Belle" White in April 1952 and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Paul L. of Ridgeway; three grandchildren, Geoff of Wapakoneta, Deb Anderson and Nathan of Kenton; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, George M., two brothers and four sisters.
He served in World War II in the 13th Infantry division as a mortar gunner in central Europe. He received a World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge and two Bronze Service Stars.

Friedel, Melville V. “Deed”, 91
Kenton
Services for Melville V. “Deed” Friedel will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Kenton, by the Rev. James Csaszar. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kenton, with military graveside services to be conducted by Amvets Post 1994.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
He died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.
He was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Kenton, to Charles and Gladys Friedel. In 1940, he married Kathleen Myers and she survives in Kenton.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Louise Friedel of Kenton and Marge Friedel of Tulsa, Okla.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert.
He worked for Swift Ohio for many years and also at the post office.
A veteran of the Navy during World War II, he operated sonar equipment.
He was a member of the musicians union and played in numerous dance bands. He had his own dance band for four years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Services for Inez Amweg will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Price Funeral Home, Kenton, by Pastor John Dyer. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery.

She died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.
She was born Sept. 28, 1914, to William T. and Leona (Fogle) Coats. In 1935 she married Elmer W. Amweg and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Dale (Marilyn) of Belle Center; two grandsons, William D. (Kathy) Amweg and Timothy D. Amweg; a sister, Norma (Richard) Gantt of Marion; and three brothers, William Gilbert Coats of Kenton, Robert Coats of Lawton, Okla., and Ray Coats of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Lewis and Fred; and two sisters, Marjorie Downey and Marlene Holland.
She worked at North Electric and R.B.M. (also known as Essex Wire).
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and Kenton Senior Citizens.

Services for Donald H. Best will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Arlington United Methodist Church by Pastor Harry Scott. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, with graveside military rites by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington.
He died at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Birchaven Retirement Village.
He was born March 7, 1921 in Elk City, Pa., to Harry G. Margaret (Weaver) Best. He married Opal Garlinger on Oct. 24, 1942, in Bluffton and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Lee Alan (Deborah) and Karl Dean (Susan), both of Arlington; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin of Newport, N.C., Ralph of Tampa, Fla., Walter Phillip of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Karl L. of Williamstown; and a sister, Arnetta Conner of McKeys Rock, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Enabelle Watkins.
He was a graduate of Knox High School in Knox, Pa.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force 33rd Air Depot Group, he served in World War II, stationed in France, Germany and England.
He was a district truck manager for General Motors, based out of Harrington Chevrolet, during the 1950s and went on to become the owner of Best Ford Sales and Service in Arlington from 1966 to 1990, where he received the Ford Distinguished Service Award.
After retiring, he worked for Nelson Treadway in Kenton.
He was active in the VFW Post 4510 and a member of the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Arlington Methodist Church.
