M. Jeanne Evans
M. Jeanne Evans of West Guthrie Drive, Upper Sandusky, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 83.
Born in Hocking County on Sept. 22, 1921, she was a daughter of James W. and Fairy Mae (Petre) Boyd. She and James L. Evans were married in the Presbyterian parsonage in Logan on July 19, 1940. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Louise Meier, Lansing, Mich.; two sons, James, Central Lake, Mich.; and William, Upper Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Ryan Evans, Jeffrey Evans, Evan Meier, Glenn Mohre, Michael Mohre, Philip Mohre and Mark Mohre; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Ann Steward, Logan.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Mohre; and a sister, Dorothy Ellis.
Mrs. Evans graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1938 from Carbon Hill High School, and had attained the highest point average to that date at her high school. She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Lyons Grocery for 17 years.
She attended First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Evans was a member of Warpole Chapter 366 OES and served as worthy matron in 1969, Dendar Council Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, Toledo; the Past Matrons Club in Upper Sandusky and of Usando Literary Club.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home with the Revs. Kenneth Wessler and Charles Steward officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, and an Eastern Star memorial service will be Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Warren Park
CLYDE - Warren G. Park, 88, of Fremont, died at Swan Pointe Care Center in Maumee on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004.
A son of Robert Delno and Lula (Carnes) Park, he was born in Marion County on Nov. 2, 1922. He married Betty Jane Alspach in Russell, Ky., on Aug. 23, 1941. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gene, Findlay; and Ronald, Fostoria; two daughters, Linda Sauber and Diane Kirchner, Tiffin; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Darrel, Upper Sandusky; and five sisters, Mabel Montgomery, Marion; Alice Cottrell, Harpster; Margaret Hotelling and Pauline Hotelling, Upper Sandusky; and Kathline Landon, Cuyahoga Falls. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl; a granddaughter, Dawn Sauber; four brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Park was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a truck driver for 40 years for several trucking companies, including delivering milk for Pet Milk Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Park then was employed as a security guard for five years.
Mr. Park was a member of Wayside Temple in Castalia.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Foos-Klein Funeral Home, 318 S. Main St., Clyde, with the Rev. Rusty Yost officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, where military honors will be conducted by the Clyde posts of the VFW and American Legion. Visitation is Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rita Hendricks
CAREY - Rita J. Hendricks, Vanlue, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at her residence. She was 79.
Born in Carey on Sept. 27, 1925, she was a daughter of Willis M. and Helen (Bleam) Putnam Sr. She and Erman D. “Shum” Hendricks were married in Carey on July 13, 1944. He died May 4, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, Willis, Gahanna; Karl, Toledo; and Michael, McComb; two daughters, Kathleen Staas, Findlay; and Julie Baxa, Tiffin; nine grandchildren, Tessa, Shawn, Jennifer, Katelin, Kristy, Trina, Alex, Andrew and Raleigh; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Joyce Hauenstein, Findlay; and Janet Heck, Annette Faber and Carol Mittemaier, Carey. She was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Putnam Jr.
A 1943 graduate of Carey High School, Mrs. Hendricks graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1971 and also did graduate work. She retired as a school teacher after 25 years in the Findlay public schools.
She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Findlay.
Mrs. Hendricks was a Stephens minister through her church, was a member of the Hancock County Retired Teachers, Ohio Retired Teachers, Findlay Rebekah Lodge, Golden Rule LEA of Findlay and Carey Senior Citizens, and a life member of the NFA. She enjoyed playing euchre at the senior citizens, teaching, quilting, fishing, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She traveled to 49 of the 50 states.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Revs. Tom Schutt and Linda Rahe officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the MS Association or the Health Ministry Team at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Basil Orians
Basil G. Orians, formerly of Upper Sandusky and more recently of Phoenix, Ariz., died at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix, on Monday, Nov. 15, 2004. He was 79.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. There is no visitation.

Betty Jane Blair
Betty Jane Blair of Hudson and formerly of Cleveland, died Nov. 20, 2004, at the age of 74.
Born Aug. 9, 1930, in Wyandot County, she was a daughter of Floyd and Esther Bear. On Feb. 8, 1954, she married Gordon H. Blair. He died in July 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Heather Pregger, The Woodlands, Texas; a son, Andrew, Columbus; and two sisters, Sally Burke, Ellijay, Ga.; and Elma Ringelman, Upper Sandusky.
Mrs. Blair was a member of First Congregational Church of Hudson, where she sang in the church choir and served as a Stephen’s minister. She also volunteered as a docent at the Akron Museum of Art.
Mrs. Blair was a member of the Hudson Historical Society and the Garden Club, and was a past matron of Hudson Chapter 377 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bridge.
Richard Palmer
CAREY - Richard P. “Dick” Palmer, 404 Dogwood Lane, Carey, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at The Cleveland Clinic. He was 63.

Anthony Perkins
STOCKBRIDGE, Mich. - Anthony Powell Perkins, 30, of Stockbridge, Mich., and formerly of Dansville, Mich., died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Detroit Harper Hospital.
Born on March 4, 1974, in Lansing, Mich., he was a son of Powell and Sharon (Hensley) Perkins. On May 18, 2002, he married Jill M. (Taylor) Roberts in Dansville. She survives. Also surviving are three children, Nicholas Roberts, Alexis Roberts and Austin Perkins, all at home; his mother, Sharon Villegas, Leslie, Mich.; father Powell, Dansville; three sisters, Michelle McDermott, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mary Jo Roe, Mason; and Lisa Booher, Mason; grandmother, Cora Hoffman, Gregory, Mich.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ossie and Nellie Hensley, and Willie and Lizzie (Salyer) Perkins.
Mr. Perkins graduated from Dansville High School in 1992 and worked for Mason Auto Body for eight years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, landscaping, his tractor and old blue Chevy pick-up truck and helping others.
The funeral was at the Highest Praise Worship Center in Stockbridge, with the Rev. Wesley Duncan officiating. Burial was in North Stockbridge Cemetery.

Richard Palmer
CAREY - Richard P. "Dick" Palmer, 404 Dogwood Lane, Carey, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at The Cleveland Clinic. He was 63.
Born in Willard on April 17, 1941, he was a son of Glenn M. and Phyllis (Atyeo) Palmer. He married Lana J. Dible on Oct. 9, 1971 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carey. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kaitlyn, Carey; and a brother, Eugene, Willard. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.
A 1959 graduate of Plymouth High School, Mr. Palmer was a former owner of G&C Auto Parts Co. in Carey from 1966 until 2000. He also was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was of Protestant faith.
Mr. Palmer was a past president of the United Way in Carey, past president of the Carey Athletic Boosters, served on the Carey Fest committee and was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Carey Blue Devils and Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed golfing, and played in the Wednesday Carey golf league for many years.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Roger Giese officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today.

Evelyn Carpenter
Evelyn R. Carpenter, formerly of 707 Marseilles Ave. and a resident of Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community for the last few years, died at Fairhaven at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004. She was 89.
A daughter of Mel and Mary Myrtle (Lininger) Carpenter, she was born in Wyandot County on June 16, 1915.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by four brothers, Ora, Stanley, Robert and Ervin Carpenter; and four sisters, Rose Martig, Mabel Feeley, Luella Caldwell and Vaye Foss.
Ms. Carpenter was a waitress for The Bow and Arrow, The Dairy Store and Karl’s restaurants.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and its women’s guild. She enjoyed collecting owls.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Old Mission Cemetery with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home.
