Kenneth Conn
Kenneth D. Conn, 66, formerly of Nevada and more recently of Revere, Mass., died at 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004.
Born in rural Harpster on April 9, 1938, he was a son of John R. and Hazel (Toombs) Conn. He married Margaret Elderkin and they divorced. He and Lucille Inchiecra were married on Nov. 1, 1981. She survives.
Also surviving are seven sons, Kenneth Jr., Robert, Gary, Jon, Glen, Matthew and Raymond; three daughters, Peggy, Joyce and Shirley; several grandchildren; five brothers, John and Herbert, Upper Sandusky; Francis, Dowajac, Mich.; Delbert, Carey; and Clifford, Wyandot; and three sisters, Juanita Bennett, Upper Sandusky; Deloris Rhodes, Niles, Mich.; and Janet Hill, Bucyrus. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Swartz and Evelyn Galati.
Mr. Conn was retired. He attended Nevada High School and served in the U.S. Navy for four years.
He was of Protestant faith.
A military service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.

Nina Knepper
Nina M. Knepper of North Warpole Street, Upper Sandusky, died at 12:18 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 80.
Born in Arcadia on June 16, 1924, she was a daughter of Oliver Delbert and Grace (Roberts) Bowman. On Sept. 29, 1946, she married Robert W. Knepper at Arcadia Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Miller and Diane Knepper, Upper Sandusky; a son, Dan, Simi, Calif.; four grandchildren, Nichole Kneedler, Pickerington; Monica Miller, Columbus; Christopher Miller and Ashley Miller, Upper Sandusky; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Blose, Delaware. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Delbert and Earl Bowman; and a sister, Thelma Snyder.
A 1942 graduate of Arcadia High School, Mrs. Knepper was a nurse’s aide at Wyandot Memorial Hospital for 16 years. She was a volunteer at the hospital after retiring, and at one time worked at GE in Tiffin.
She was a 50-year member of First Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Knepper enjoyed reading, shopping and music.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home with the Rev. Julianne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Charles Caskey
Charles S. Caskey, formerly of Nevada and a resident of Terre Haute, Ind., for the past few years, died at his son’s home in Terre Haute this morning.
Arrangements are pending at Lucas Funeral Home.
Wilda Grimes
GALION - Wilda M. Grimes, 66, of Galion, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Born in Wyandot County on Sept. 16, 1938, she was a daughter of Samuel and Arvilla (Johns) Swartz. She married William A. Grimes on June 15, 1956. He died Feb. 2, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Bill, Galion; a daughter, Sally Jett, Galion; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Whitney Grimes, Galion; five sisters, Marilyn Harris, Caledonia; Mable Grimes and Clara Tharp, Marion; Pat Smith, Kenton; and Florence Owens, Rutledge, Ala.; and four brothers, Clifford and Kenny Swartz, Upper Sandusky; Boyd Swartz, Wharton; and Bob Swartz, Florida. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Grimes; four brothers, Harold, Harrison, Jim and Cloyd Swartz; and her parents.
After moving from Upper Sandusky to Galion in 1976, Mrs. Grimes worked various jobs, most recently at the Dari-Bar and the Palmer House.
Mrs. Grimes enjoyed doing crafts.
The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 p.m. at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home in Galion, with the Rev. Paul Walter officiating. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery, Brush Ridge. Visitation is Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth Scheck
Ruth E. Scheck, Sebring, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004. She was 78. Born on April 10, 1926, in Upper Sandusky, she was a daughter of Floyd and Lola (Owens) Trautwein.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne; two sons, Dennis, Clyde; and Steven, Sebring; a daughter, Lonnie Kay Andrews, Sebring; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Musgrave, Forest; and a brother, Vernon Trautwein, Fremont. She was preceded in death by a sister, Crystal Newell; and two brothers, Leon and Everett Trautwein.
Mrs. Scheck was in the grocery business with her husband while living in Ohio, owning at one time seven Scheck Shop Rights. Upon moving to Florida, she became a real estate agent and assisted her husband in his real estate, development and building business. She had been a resident of Sebring since 1966.
The funeral was Nov. 26 in Sebring.

Ruth Snyder
Ruth C. Snyder of North Main Street, Kirby, died at 5:06 a.m. today at Marion General Hospital. She was 72.

Charles Caskey
Charles Smith Caskey, formerly of Nevada and more recently of Terre Haute, Ind., died the morning of Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at his son’s residence in Terre Haute. He was 93.
Born in North Robinson on Feb. 16, 1911, he was a son of Finley and Florence (Smith) Caskey. He married Josephine Williams on Dec. 13, 1935, in North Robinson. She died March 12, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Jerry, Terre Haute; three grandsons, Charles, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Larry, Avon, Ind.; and Kevin, Terre Haute; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtle Clevenger, Columbus. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Ralph and Fred; and three sisters, Martha Wyss, Marie Kurtz and Alice Crall.
A 1929 graduate of North Robinson High School, Mr. Caskey attended Moody Bible Institute. He worked as a machinist at the Timken Co. in Bucyrus, retiring from there.
Mr. Caskey, along with his wife, were founding members of Wildwood Chapel. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and reading.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wildwood Chapel, 7296 TH 51, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the chapel.
Clyde Barnes
Clyde C. Barnes of Bucyrus, died at 1:20 a.m. today at Heartland of Bucyrus. He was 78.

Clyde Barnes
NEVADA - Clyde C. Barnes Jr., 78, of Bucyrus, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Heartland of Bucyrus.
Born in Seneca County on Jan. 21, 1926, he was a son of Clyde Sr. and Ilo (Culver) Barnes. He married Janet Gerber on April 14, 1951, in Emanuel UCC in rural Upper Sandusky. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark, Spring Hope, N.C.; and Randall, Cleveland; two daughters, Marsha Barnes and Dona Mohr, Bucyrus; four grandchildren, Elisabeth Barker, North Canton; Douglas Barnes, Spring Hope; and Taylor Mohr and TJ Mohr, Bucyrus; two brothers, Paul, Prospect; and Vern, Bellevue; and a sister, Mary Swerlein, Tiffin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Kenneth and Neil Barnes; and five sisters, Ethel Price, Mabel Barrett, Helen Evans, Dorothy Barnes and Doris Wagner.
A 1943 graduate of Melmore High School, Mr. Barnes attended Chicago Technical School until he was drafted into the service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 3rd Army in Germany.
Mr. Barnes was a machinist with the Timken Co. in Bucyrus, retiring in February 1981 after 30 years. He also was a lay pastor for Emanuel UCC, Hope UCC of Sulphur Springs and Windfall UCC of Galion.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bucyrus, and was a former choir member there.
Mr. Barnes was a member of American Legion Post No. 181 in Bucyrus, a former fire chief of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed music, visiting and serving others in need and serving as a councilor for the emergency service center.
The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s UCC with the Revs. Karla Frost and Donald Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted. Visitation is Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Nevada, and for an hour before the service at the church.

Mary Beitler
Mary M. Beitler, 633 S. Sandusky, Ave., Upper Sandusky, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at her residence. She was 86.
Born in Salem Township on June 21, 1918, she was a daughter of F. “Fiss” Nicholas and Lena M. (Best) Klein. She and Claude Theodore Beitler were married on July 10, 1948. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Claude Theodore II, Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, Heidi Vent, Wendy Jackman and Claude Theodore III; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Klein; and a sister, Theresa Thomas.
Mrs. Beitler ran trap lines and sold furs before graduating from Salem High School in 1936. She had worked for John Greer at the Wyandot County Welfare Department, and during World War II, she worked on the rationing board.
For six years, Mrs. Beitler lived with her husband in Germany. She retired as office manager for the Upper Sandusky Water Works after 42 years.
She attended St. Peter Catholic Church.
Mrs. Beitler was a supporter of St. Jude Missions. She enjoyed walking and being a part of the city of Upper Sandusky. She liked live flowers and maintaining her home and lawn, visiting the sick and shut-ins and wearing hats with style.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation is at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Friday. A biblical Scripture service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
