Doug Porter
CAREY - Doug P. Porter, 5785 CH 87, Carey, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, from injuries sustained in an accident. He was 43.
A son of Monte P. Porter and Carol Moser-Clay, he was born Jan. 7, 1961, in Upper Sandusky. He married Carolyn A. Noon in Burlington, Ky., on May 2, 1985. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mick Clay, of Forest; three sons, Paul, Jordan and Alec, all at home; maternal grandmother, Welcome Moser, Wharton; two sisters, Deb Hill and LuAnn Montz, Carey; a brother, Matt Clay, Orlando, Fla.; five half siblings, Ron Porter, Tiffin; Toni Daughenbaugh, Upper Sandusky; Monte Porter, Woodville; Lori Osborn, Sycamore; and Amanda Kelley, Sycamore; a stepsister, Lisa Clay, Carey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandfather, Lester Moser; and paternal grandparents, James Paul and Amanda Porter.
A 1980 graduate of Riverdale High School, Mr. Porter was the mechanical division manager at Vaughn Industries in Carey.
Mr. Porter enjoyed spending time with his family, coached his sons’ summer baseball team, was a Riverdale High School Booster, a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns and was an organ donor.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Carey, with the Rev. James Sharrett officiating. Burial will be in Wharton Richland-Union Cemetery in Wharton. Visitation is Friday from 2-9 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, and for an hour before the service at the church.

Edgar Eversole
Edgar Denslow Eversole, 80, of Baltimore, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.
Born in Carroll on July 10, 1924, he was the son of Russell and Mae Eversole. He and Josephine Bader were married for 54 years. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dan, Blacksburg, Va.; and Dave, Baltimore; two daughters, Joy McCarthy, Sycamore; and Jill Nolan, Wakeman; 10 grandchildren, Grace, Garrett and Ty Eversole; Rory, Darcy and Kara McCarthy; Mikal and Patrick Nolan; and Darren and Eric Eversole; and a sister, Wanda Leith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Davis.
Mr. Eversole graduated from Carroll High School, and was a farmer and Abderdeen Angus breeder for 68 years. He also was a craftsman of wood and stained glass.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Baltimore Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Donnally officiating. Burial will be in Violet Cemetery in Pickerington. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Road North, Pickerington.

Robert Riedel
SYCAMORE - Robert A. Riedel Sr., formerly of 501 N. Sycamore Ave., Sycamore, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 98.
A son of Wooster A. and Verna (Ohl) Riedel, he was born in Wyandot County on Dec. 5, 1906. He married Edith U. Wagner on Aug. 2, 1928. She died Sept. 11, 1990.
Surviving are five sons, Robert Jr., Findlay; James and Richard, rural Tiffin; and Alton and Verlin, rural Sycamore; five daughters, Clara Stuckey, Bradenton, Fla.; Mary Hill, Marion; Phyllis Young, rural Bloomville; Roma Baird, Shelbyville, Ill.; and Cathi Clinger; Sycamore; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ross and Dale, Bucyrus; and a sister, Marjorie Bookmeyer, rural Sycamore. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother.
Mr. Riedel was a retired painter and sheep shearer.
He was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, where he was a past trustee and former school teacher.
Mr. Riedel was a past member of the former Board of Public Affairs in Sycamore, and was a member of the Mohawk Sixty Plus Club, Mohawk Historical Society, National Rifle Association, Sycamore Horseshoe Club and the Sycamore United Church of Christ dartball team. He was a former member of the Ohio Sheep Shearer Association. Mr. Riedel enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball and dartball, and was a Mohawk Warriors fan.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Revs. Kevin Rothhar and Kelly Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Sycamore. Visitation is Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Esther Snyder
Esther Lucille Snyder, 91, of Newark, died Dec. 1, 2004, at The Newark Health Care Center.
Born Dec. 11, 1912, in Wharton, she was a daughter of Artie and Dora (Stump) Wise. She married Henry Milton Snyder on Oct. 24, 1930, in Greenup, Ky. He died Nov. 1, 1988.
Surviving are two sons, Richard, Pataskala; and Jack, Athens; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Wise, Wharton; three sisters, Dortha Howard and Irene Tuorrey, Upper Sandusky; and Betty Baker, Wharton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers, Charles and Frederick Wise.
Mrs. Snyder had worked in a restaurant in Wharton, The Hayes Hotel, the Curtis Wright Airplane Plant, Don’s Briarcliff Restaurant and was an Avon sales representative.
She formerly attended The Church of God in Wharton, and the Kirkersville Methodist Church.
A graveside service was held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsburg, with the Rev. William C. Meyers officiating.

Rush Bridinger
TIFFIN - Rush Bridinger, Tiffin, died at 8:12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004. He was 79.
A son of Rush and Inez (Stuckey) Bridinger, he was born in Tiffin on July 27, 1925. He and Roma Weaver were married on June 8, 1946, in Bloomville. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Cheryl Bogard, Holland; Lynn, Tiffin; Linda Carr, North Baltimore; and Tim, Tiffin; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Bridinger retired from National Machinery.
He attended Melmore United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Sunday school class.
Mr. Bridinger was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and Tri-State Rodeo Association. He was a horseman and enjoyed showing quarter horses.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Melmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Gruver officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin.

Deborah Hougendobler
LARUE - Deborah Hougendobler, 89, of LaRue, died at 2:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton.
Born Jan. 19, 1915, in Hardin County, she was a daughter of Aubrey and Bertha (Drews) Wood. On Dec. 16, 1934, she married Robert J. Hougendobler. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Betty Jo McElroy, New Bloomington; four grandchildren, Natalie Askew, Richwood; Jeffrey, McElroy, Pasco, Wash.; Michele McElroy, Dublin; and Rhonda McElroy, Dickson, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Myron Wood, Kenton; and a sister, Kathryn McElheny, Marion. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Jr.; five brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Hougendobler was a homemaker and a seamstress.
She was a member of LaRue United Methodist Church, its Mary Martha Circle and taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Hougendobler en-joyed knitting, crocheting and quilting, mostly for others, cooking and reading. She was a 4-H adviser, member of the Mary Lenox Chapter No. 98 OES and the 20th Century Club.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue, with the Rev. Edward W. Fugate officiating. Burial will be in LaRue Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Ruth Merriman
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Ruth K. Merriman, 85, formerly of Marion and more recently of Winter Haven, Fla., died on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Williamsport on Feb. 2, 1919.
Surviving are her husband, William, Winter Haven; two daughters, Lisa Lalik, Polk City, Fla.; and Deborah Merriman, Enid, Okla.; two sons, Tim, Upper Sandusky; and Jeff, Winter Haven; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Jording, Dayton; and a brother, Neil Frazier, Circleville.
Mrs. Merriman was a homemaker, and was a Rosey the Riveter for Curtiss-Wright.
She attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Winter Haven.
Mrs. Merriman was a member of Beta Phi Kapa and the Junior League in Ohio and Winter Haven, and a former member and women’s golfer at Lake Regional Yacht and Country Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and bettering the lives of children.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Steel’s Family Funeral Service Chapel in Winter Haven, with the Rev. Walter Maier officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Park.
