Darlene Prince
Darlene E. Prince of Township Road 66, Upper Sandusky, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. She was 69.
Born in Marion on Jan. 6, 1935, she was a daughter of Milton and Gladys (Solomon) Thompson. She first was married to Earl Dodson, and he preceded her in death. She and Lonzo H. “Lonnie” Prince were married in Upper Sandusky on Dec. 16, 1972. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Nancy Karcher, Nevada; a stepson, Kenneth Prince, Bucyrus; four grandchildren, Steve Benson, Troy Benson, Daniel Karcher and Bill Dodson; two stepgrandchildren, Adrian Prince and Kendra Prince; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Holcomb, Tampa, Fla.; Viola Pyles, South Shore, Ky.; and Janice Cross, Edison; and two brothers, the Rev. Russell Thompson, Green Camp; and Harold Thompson, Centersburg. She was preceded in death by a son, Bill Dodson; a brother, Everett Thompson; and five sisters, Delores Thompson, Ida Belle Hill, Adalle Thompson, Flossie Black and Linda Jackson.
Mrs. Prince was a homemaker and cleaned homes in the area. Before that, she had worked for Freezer Queen in Wyandot.
Mrs. Prince enjoyed collecting angels and traveling.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Steward officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth Walters
CAREY - Ruth E. Walters, formerly of 314 Frederick St., Carey, died at 3:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at the Carey Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 92.
A daughter of Dallas and Martha (Hickle) Putnam, she was born in Carey on June 5, 1912. On Oct. 7, 1929, she married John C. Walters in Vanceburg, Ky. He survives.
Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by a son, Richard; six sisters, Myrtle Shute, Bernice Baughman, Nella Bland, Vida Hile, Flossie Nye and Irene Young-Dible; and a brother, Glenn Putnam.
Mrs. Walters was a secretary.
She attended Grace United Methodist Church, was a member of its United Methodist Women, and was past secretary and past membership secretary of the church.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, with the Rev. James Sharrett officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.

Franklin Walton
Franklin M. Walton, formerly of County Highway 37 and 853 Terrace Drive, Upper Sandusky, died at 9:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community. He was 87.
Born in Wyandot County on March 11, 1917, he was a son of Emery E. and Mildred V. (Robey) Walton. He and Florence Irene Culver were married in Sycamore on April 15, 1943. She died March 29, 1982.
Surviving are three sons, Edward, Englevale, N.D.; and Darrel and Emery, Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Charlotte Griffin, Battlelake, Minn.; and Diane Thompson, Wyndmere, N.D.; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, William, Upper Sandusky; Reuben, Roundhead; Charles, Huber Heights; James, Marysville; and David, Oklahoma; and four sisters, Clara Belle Sheaffer, Upper Sandusky; Ilah Mae Osborn, Stockton, Calif.; Mary Clinger, Marion; and Anna Fox, Forest. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Albert.
Mr. Walton retired as a lifelong Crane Township farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the infantry in Germany during World War II.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude McKiddy officiating. Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery in rural Upper Sandusky, with local veterans’ organizations conducting full military graveside rites. Visitation is at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Monday.

John Quam
John Quam, 150 N. Third St., Upper Sandusky, died at his residence at approximately 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004. He was 63.

Melvin Ross
Melvin E. Ross, 13119 CH 44, Upper Sandusky, died at his residence at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004. He was 77.
Born in Salem Township on Oct. 29, 1927, he was a son of William A. and Vanessa (Albert) Ross. He married Margaret I. Leip on Feb. 24, 1952, in McComb. She died Sept. 17, 1988.
Surviving are three sons, Richard, Cookson, Okla.; James, Carson City, Nev.; and Galen, Upper Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Melford, Boulder, Colo. He was preceded in death by a brother, Myron; and two sisters, Lucille and Gertrude.
A 1945 graduate of Salem High School, Mr. Ross retired as a farmer and owner/operator of the former Ross Mobile Feed Service. He also worked at National Lime and Stone Co. in the maintenance department, retiring in 1989, and for Kalmbach Feeds for 25 years.
He attended North Salem Lutheran Church.
Mr. Ross was a member of the Salem Grange, and enjoyed bowling, traveling, mowing lawns and John Deere tractors.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Elsholz officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Mary Ann Keller
CAREY - Mary Ann Keller, 87, of Plantation, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, in Florida.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1917. She was married to Edgar “Ezz” Keller for 60 years. He died Dec. 27, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Paurowski, Isla Morada, Fla.; and Karen Bame, West Palm Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Linn.
Mrs. Keller was a housewife and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Carey.
A celebration of her life was held at her home Sunday. She will be buried in the spring in Spring Grove Cemetery. Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey is handling arrangements.

David Toland
CAREY - David A. Toland, 531 N. Hazel St., died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, at the age of 41.
A son of Carl E. and Donna A. (Lucius) Toland, he was born in Upper Sandusky on Nov. 21, 1963. He and Lisa A. Webb were married at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Carey on April 28, 1990. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents in Carey; two sons, Tyler and Joseph, both at home; two brothers, Rick and Thomas, Upper Sandusky; a sister, Amy Smalley, Carey; and several nieces and nephews.
A 1982 graduate of Carey High School, Mr. Toland was a mechanic at Lowe's Distribution Center in Findlay. He previously worked at Quality Farm and Fleet Distribution Center in Fostoria.
He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem Township.
Mr. Toland was a past president of his parish council, a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1925 in Carey and a volunteer for Wyandot County Right to Life and Cub Scout Pack No. 125. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr., and enjoyed spending time with his sons.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Ernest Waechter officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey., with a Christian wake service at 8:30 p.m.

Donald Droll
Donald A. Droll, 452 N. Sandusky Ave., died at his residence at 4:38 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005. He was 71.

Helen Webster
GALION - Helen M. Webster, 75, Galion, died Friday evening, Dec. 31, 2004, at the Village Care Center in Galion.
Born in Wood County on July 3, 1929, she was a daughter of Harry and Edith (Prante) Diebert. She married William O. Webster on May 20, 1950, in Sycamore. He died July 12, 1978.
Surviving are three brothers, Francis Diebert, Marion; Fred Diebert, Upper Sandusky; and Richard Diebert, Sycamore; and three sisters, Lois Killian, Columbus; Elaine McVay, Norfolk, Va.; and Betty Harbison, Galion. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald; and an infant sister, Ilene.
Mrs. Webster moved from Upper Sandusky to Galion in 1959, and was employed by Hamilton Standard in Lexington as an assembler until her retirement in 1988.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Galion, and was active in church organizations and as part of the kitchen staff.
Mrs. Webster was a member and past senior regent of Galion Moose Lodge No. 303 Women of the Moose, a member of the Friendship and College of Regent Degrees. She enjoyed league bowling, selling Copper Craft Guild and Tiara Glass products and dogs, especially her dog Raisin.
The funeral is Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home in Galion, with the Rev. Timothy J. Keeler officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Women of the Moose memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
