Kenneth Borer
Kenneth Borer, of Baker Court and more recently of Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community, died at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. He was 79.
Arrangements are pending at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home.
Laura Sutton
BUCYRUS - Laura Hazel Sutton, 93, Bucyrus, died Monday afternoon Jan. 31, 2005, at her granddaughter’s home.
Born in Wyandot County on April 26, 1911, she was a daughter of John and Mary (Martin) Ankney. She first married Ralph Snyder on June 19, 1929. He died in 1931. She and David Sutton were married on March 1, 1934. He died Nov. 20, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Lauthers, Punta Gorda, Fla.; and JoAnn Fahy, Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Randall Lauthers, Robert Lauthers, Rebecca Starner and Scott Wendling, Bucyrus; Todd Schiefer, West Virginia; Lisa Paprzycki, Homosassa, Fla.; and Joanna Wendling, Cleveland, Tenn.; 21 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lori Wiseman; five brothers, Otto, Harry, Elmer, Kenneth and Carl; and two sisters, Winnie Traxler and Nellie Flickinger.
Mrs. Sutton had worked at the Farm Bureau, Zeigler Mill and several other area businesses. She last worked for Crum’s selling strawberries and was known as “The Strawberry Lady.”
She was a member of Community Christian Church in Galion.
Mrs. Sutton was a member of Ladies of the Moose, was an American Red Cross volunteer and enjoyed cards and quilting.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, with the Revs. Charles Speece and Dan Turner officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Albert Byrd
Albert Byrd, 78, of Upper Sandusky, died at 11:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Switchback, W.Va. on June 8, 1926, he was a son of Albert Sr. and Mary (Tote) Byrd. On June 9, 1955, he married Betty Hoskins in Evansville, Ind. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Timothy, Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Susan Chotikasupaseraner, Newhall, Calif.; a granddaughter, Justine Kessler, New Albany; two stepgrandsons, Nate Franz and Luke Franz, Upper Sandusky; two brothers, John, Vinemont, Ala.; and Robert, Grapeland, Texas; and a sister, Stella Shew, Bartow, Fla. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Steven; and a sister, Bertha Coffey.
Mr. Byrd retired in 1991 from Worthington Plastics after 20 years of work.
He was a member of the former Church of God in Upper Sandusky.
Mr. Byrd served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a former member of Moose Lodge No. 1093, American Legion Post No. 225 and VFW Post No. 2842. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting.
The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home with the Rev. Ohmer Swartz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Allen Fout
FOREST - Allen E. "Gene" Fout, 17654 CR 20, Forest, died at his residence at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005. He was 79.
A son of Allen A. and Maude H. (Latham) Fout, he was born on June 28, 1925, in Forest. He married Helen L. Spencer on Jan. 5, 1957. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert, Lancaster; and William, Forest; a stepdaughter, Diane Sellars, Forest; a stepson, Larry Snider, Port Clinton; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice Crum, Newark; and an aunt. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman.
Mr. Fout was retired, and had served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a lifetime member of McVitty VFW Post No. 1182 in Forest.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Shields Funeral Home in Forest, with the Rev. Brett Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Hueston Cemetery, Forest, with McVitty Post VFW No. 1182 and American Legion Post No. 259 conducting military graveside rites. Visitation is Monday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harold Larick
Harold Eugene Larick, 80, of County Highway 56, Nevada, died at Altercare of Bucyrus at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005.
Born on Sept. 1, 1924, in Wyandot County, he was the son of Harold B. and Ethel I. (Koehler) Larick. He married Pearlleta Motter on Sept. 4, 1948, in Nevada Lutheran Church. She died Dec. 9, 1992.
Surviving are four daughters, Josette Johnson, Fostoria; Nadine Leitzy, Bucyrus; Corrine Coldiron, Nevada; and Mari Burris, Caledonia; 12 grandchildren, Robin Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Michelle Leitzy, Aaron Leitzy, Cretia Johnson, Jeri Zeigler, Doug Appleby, Jon Appleby, Lucas Coldiron, Ashley Burris and Kyle Burris; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Marie Frost.
A 1942 graduate of Nevada High School, Mr. Larick was a retired farmer and owned and operated Larick’s Radio and TV Service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the 331st Infantry Regiment 83rd Division in the European and African Middle Eastern campaigns in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes Central Europe in five major engagements. Mr. Larick was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star Medal, and most recently the Normandy Jubilee of Liberty Medal from the French government.
He was a member of Nevada Lutheran Church, served on its council as secretary and treasurer and did maintenance work at the church.
Mr. Larick was a charter member of the Nevada Lions Club, served as its secretary and treasurer for many years, and was a charter member of the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Auxiliary, and served as its secretary and treasurer. He was a former member of Robert Case American Legion Post No. 462 in Nevada. He enjoyed reading, cooking, especially candy and cookies, flower and vegetable gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Nevada Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery with local veterans’ organizations conducting military graveside rites. Visitation is Sunday from 1-4 p.m.. at Lucas Funeral Home in Nevada, and for an hour before the service at the church. Mr. Larick’s body has been cremated.

Beatrice McVay
Beatrice M. McVay, formerly of Cincinnati and more recently of Upper Sandusky, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community. She was 86.
A daughter of Bernard and Hattie (Diggs) French, she was born in Knoxville, Tenn., on Dec. 14, 1918. She married Harold McVay on Aug. 24, 1945, in Cincinnati. He died May 30, 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynda Balz, Upper Sandusky. She was preceded in death by a half sister, Gladys Thomas.
Mrs. McVay was a homemaker, and while she lived in Cincinnati, she worked in animal welfare. She enjoyed reading, home decorating and floral arranging and design.
Services will be private, and there is no visitation. Lucas Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Jean Swartz
Jean Swartz, 78, of Upper Sandusky, died at her residence on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005.
Born in Upper Sandusky on July 22, 1926, she was a daughter of Harry and Modest (Brown) Williams. She married Donald L. Swartz on June 22, 1954, in St. Paul Lutheran Church. He died Nov. 19, 1972.
Surviving are a son, Steven, Cleveland; a brother, Richard Williams, Upper Sandusky; three sisters, Florence Payne, Lillian Mapes and Shirley Gibson, all of Upper Sandusky; and a nephew, Carl Ricchetti, Cleveland. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Ivan Williams; and a sister, Gloria Althouser.
A 1944 graduate of Lakeview High School, Mrs. Swartz graduated from Ohio Northern University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was an elementary school teacher for 31 years, retiring in 1980 after teaching in the Lakeview, Leipsic, Puerto Rico, Toledo and Upper Sandusky districts. During her retirement, Mrs. Swartz was a volunteer teacher at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Swartz was a member and past matron of the Warpole Chapter No. 366 OES, a former member of the Usando Mothers Club, Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling, the theater and making candy.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Elsholz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
