PITTSBURGH - Margaret A. “Peggy” Dalae, 90, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Williamsport, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at UPMC Tassavant Hospital, Pittsburgh. She retired as a teller instructor at Mellon Bank. She was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church. Born July 14, 1910, in Clearfield, she was a daughter to Clarence W. and Delia C. Flick Dooley. Surviving are a daughter, Anne “Cathy” Markovitz; and two grandchildren, Susan L. and William D. Markovitz. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evanore Wallace. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCabe Brothers’, 6214 Walnut St., Pittsburgh, with the Rev. Matthew Kail officiating. Burial will be at Homewood Cemetery. Woodrow W. Lauver, 87, of 1015 Pine St., Montoursville, died Saturday Jan. 27, 2001 in Manor Care South, where he had been a patient for three days. He and his wife, the former Ida Bohr, observed their 59th wedding anniversary, November 8. He had retired from the Darling Valve Company in Williamsport. He was a member of Emmanul Baptist church. Born June 3, 1913 in Shamokin, he was a son of Samuel and Lula Wharey Lauver. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. MIDDLEBURY CENTER - Daisy L. Murray, 67, died Friday Jan. 26, 2001 at home. She retired from Hamilton Technology, Lancaster Pa after 25 years. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was an active member of the Wellsboro Women of the Moose and enjoyed golfing, reading, sewing, and playing bingo. Born Jan. 11, 1934 in Ripley, Tenn., she was a daughter of Charles and Zula Griggs Lawson. Surviving besides her husband, Thomas D. Murray, are two sons, K. Mark Patton of Ramsey, Minn. and Stuart L. Patton of Lititz; one daughter, Lisa A. Patton of Minneapolis; a stepson, Thomas Murray III of Leola; a stepdaughter Annette Murray of Lancaster; five brothers, Charles of Sikeston, Mo., Donald of Lancaster, Joseph of Lititz, Douglas of Ephrata, and Larry of Conestoga; two sisters, Margaret Fleming of Lancaster and Bonnie Norman of Wappapello, Mo; and six grandchildren, Eryn, Zachery, Keri, Wade, Thomas IV, and Maryann. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Jerry, Jack and Billy Lawson; and one sister, Annette Kieffer. LOCK HAVEN - Dennis H. Bartlett, 55, of 514 W. Walnut St. died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at home. He and his wife, the former, Nancy L. Showden, observed their 33rd anniversary in May. He graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1962. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of theBeech Creek American Legion post. He was a market manager for Amerigas for 20 years. He was a member of Belles Springs golf course and coached Little League and Junior League in Lock Haven. Born here March 13, 1945, he was a son of Merton and Nora Hanson Bartlett. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Timothy B. of Lock Haven; a brother, M. Keith of Penn Yan., N.Y.; a grandchild, Eryn Bartlett; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family. WATSONTOWN - Teresa E. Desrochers, 38, of 11 Spring Lake Crest died Sunday Jan. 28, 2001, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following an extended illness. She was a 1981 graduate of Enterprise, Ala., High School. She graduated from the University of Alabama and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Ga. She was employed at the low security federal Penitentiary at Allenwood, and previously was employed by the Federal Prison Service. She was an active program manager for the Native American–Asian Pacific Islanders program and a registered member of the Cherokee nation. She enjoyed arts and crafts, skiing and scuba diving. Born Sept. 26, 1962 in Nowata, Okla., she was a daughter of Bobby J. and Betty L. Buffalo Brown. Surviving, besides her husband, Steven G. Desrochers, and her parents of Chelsea, Okla., are a daughter, Emma L. of Watsontown; and two brothers, Bobby J. Brown Jr. of Locust Grove, Va. and Jimmy W. Brown of Colonial Heights, Va. JERSEY SHORE - Gordon E. “Punkin” Fulkrod, 63, of 335 Baer St. died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001 in Williamsport Hospital. His wife, the former, Ella Sue Rossman died in March 1992. He married the former, Sandra J. Poorman March 31, 1995. He retired from Avco. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He was an Army veteran. Born here June 30, 1937, he was a son of Samuel E. and Eva Spotts Fulkrod. Surviving, besides his second wife, are three sons, Gordon S. Fulkrod, of this borough, William M. Rinker of McElhattan, and Keith A. Rinker of Lock Haven; two daughters, Pamela E. Mundrick of this borough and Cheryl A. Stabley of McElhattan; a brother, Leroy J. Fulkrod of this borough; four sisters, Carole Kutza, Hope S. Fulkrod, Karen Fulkrod, all of the borough, and Joye Barner of Avis; and nine grandchildren. Irene A. Haines, 80, a resident of Manor Care Health Services, formerly of 228 Youngs Ave., Lock Haven, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Jersey Shore Hospital. Her husband, Guy W. Haines, died in September 1975. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading. She was a Protestant. Born Sept. 28, 1920, in Howard, she was a daughter of David F. and Bertha E. Sheddy McKean. Surviving are four sons, Rex. W., Larry D. and Fred G. Haines, all of Lock Haven, and Berry L. Haines of McElhatten; two daughters, Ruby Confer of Loganton and Lucy Collins of Los Angeles; three brothers, Harry, James, and Perry McKean, all of Howard; three sisters, Mae Falls and Trixie Wolfe, both of Howard and June Confer, of Spring Mills; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. William G. Letterman, 51, of 195 Chad-Lee Drive, South Williamsport, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Williamsport Hospital. He worked for Pennline Security Detective Agency for five years and was a security guard for Shield Security Co. He was an avid fisherman. Surviving, besides his wife, the former Carol M. Ford, are a stepson, Edgar C. Leydig Jr., of this city; five stepdaughters, Cathy Longerbeam in West Virginia, Glenna Focht of Claysburg, Tonya Watson of this city, Kimberly Logsdon of Hyndman, and Lisa Hochaday of Ridgeley, W. Va.; two sisters, Emma Bartley of Jersey Shore and Helen Pyfer in Texas; nine stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Letterman. Mary E. Kling, 85, formerly of 815 Bellefonte Ave., Lock Haven, died Saturday. Jan. 27, 2001, in Valley View Nursing Home. She and her husband, Earl W. Kling, observed their 63rd anniversary in May. She was a Lock Haven Hospital switchboard operator for 22 years and a member of the hospital auxiliary. She was a deaconess of the First Church of Christ, Lock Haven. Born March 13, 1915, she was a daughter of Joseph and Elsie B. Bittner Kunes. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Ronald E. Kling of Flemington and William L. Kling of this city; a sister, Josephine Fisher of Lock Haven; three grand children; and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Walker’s, 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Russell W. Martin, 95, of 2205 Mahaffey Lane died Sunday Jan. 28, 2001, in Sycamore Manor following an extended illness. His wife, the former Catherine E. Lusk, died Oct. 11, 1956. He was a self-employed carpenter. Born Sept. 18, 1905, in Linden, he was a son of Arthur W. and Rose Grove Martin. Surviving are a half-brother Lloyd E. Furman of this city; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles R., and a brother, Spencer. MILTON - Adam Martin Yocum, 87, of 205 Fairview Ave, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Buffalo Valley Luthern Village, Lewisburg. He and his wife, the former Martha Jean Krick, observed their 61st wedding anniversary in July. He graduated from Milton High School in 1931 and from Hemphill Diesel School, Flushing, N.Y. He built, owned and operated Grandview Car Wash, here, until his retirement. He owned and operated grocery stores in this city. He was employeed by Reading Railroad for 10 years as a fireman, engineer, road foreman of engines of the Shamokin District, and as the head of diesel engines of the Shamokin District. He owned and operated Yocum Farm Supply, Allenwood, for many years. He was a 78-year member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. He was president of the board of trustees, on the administrative council, and was a member of and chaired church and Sunday school boards and committees. He was a Sunday school teacher for 45 years. He served two terms as a member of Borough Council and many years as a director of the Farmers National Bank, and Commonwealth Bank of Watsontown. He was part of the Milton-Lewisburg Meals on Wheels program for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hiking and snowmobiling, miniature steam engines and music. Born here March 16, 1913, he was a son of Harrison B. and Bessie Keefer Yocum. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Dr. Adam M. Yocum II of Boalsburg; three daughters, Carole J. Bower, Nancy L. Shearer and Hilda Kay Morgan, all of this city; two sisters, Dorothy Y. McDowell of Glens Falls, N.Y., and Berneice H. Woodling of Mifflinburg; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lamont and Richard Yocum, and a sister, Hilda D. Dwyer. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, in the church, 102 Lower Market St., with the Rev. John S. HUGHESVILLE - Robert R. Shultz, 91, of 8775 Route 220 Highway, formerly of Muncy Valley, died Monday, Jan. 29, at Muncy Valley Hospital. He and his wife, the former Althea Little Johnson, observed their first wedding anniversary Nov. 22. His first wife of 38 years, the former Edna Charles, died Sept. 23, 1978. His second wife of 19 years, the former Mabel Sherwood, died March 26, 1999. He retired in 1978 from PennDOT. He was a member of Lungerville Christian Church, where he was business president for six years. He was a charter member of Muncy Valley Area Volunteer Fire Company and its Fire Police. He was a former trustee within the Fire Company for several years. He was a member of American Legion Post 601, Sonestown. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a known fiddle player at many area functions, with recordings of his fiddle playing filed in the U.S. Library of Congress. Born Nov. 29, 1909, in Orangeville, he was a son of Francis C. and Hannah E. Dewald Shultz. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Robert D. of Unityville; five stepchildren; a sister, Jennie Creasy of Pottstown; five grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 17 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond L. “Red”; three brothers, Elmer, Frank and Harrison; three sisters, Odessa, Mae and Eva; and a granddaughter, Kelly L. Shultz Fry. Word has been received that Sara B. Clark, 80, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Jersey Shore, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001. She lived in Jersey Shore before moving to Florida. Her husband, Elwood J. Clark, died in August 1986. Born Jan. 8, 1921, in State College, she was a daughter of Harry L. and Helen Treaster Barker. Surviving are two sons, Larry and Gary, both of Zephyrhills; a daughter, Patty Ann Marquis of Waterbury, Conn.; a brother, Dean Winters; two sisters, Helen Brown of Inman, S.C., and Corine Reed of Tecumseh, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. WATSONTOWN - Florence L. Arner-Smith, 100, formerly of this borough, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Oxon Hill, Md. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Walter Arner and Amos V. “Docky” Smith. She was a member of Watsontown United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star 282. She enjoyed doing embroidery. Born July 3, 1900, in Danville, she was a daughter of Hurley and Emily Alcock Baylor. Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Penn of Nanjemoy, Md., and Bebe Antonini of Oxon Hill, Md.; a stepson, Kenneth E. Smith of Norristown; a stepdaughter, Donna Walters of Mifflinburg; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. DUSHORE - Marguerite Fay Pardoe, 71, of this borough, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Towanda. She and her husband, Carl Pardoe, observed their 52nd wedding anniversary in June. She was a member of the Living Hope Fellowship Church, Estella. Born Sept. 19, 1929, in New Albany, she was a daughter of Fred and Harriet McCarty Driscoll. Surviving, besides her husband, are three sons, Stephen of Dushore RR, Brice of New Albany RR and Lester of Forksville RR; two daughters, Shelley and Fay, both of Dushore; two brothers, Carl Driscoll of Forksville RR and Marvin Driscoll of Canton; three sisters, Marian McCarty of Forksville RR, Doris Wells of Houghton, N.Y., and Eloise Brown of Russell; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. G. Elwood Shiffler, 82, of Mosquito Valley Road, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Williamsport Hospital after an extended illness. He and his wife, the former Jean Louise Stabley, observed their 54th wedding anniversary Aug. 14. He was a civil engineer with Stone and Webster Corporation, and retired from Williamsport Hospital in 1983. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a graduate of the former Dickinson Seminary, now Lycoming College, and received his engineering degree from Penn State University. He was a member of Royal P. Steinbacher American Legion Post 617, South Williamsport. He was an Army Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the China, Burma and India Theatre. Born Oct. 28, 1918, in this city, he was a son of Gilbert Aaron and Ruth C. Bowman Shiffler. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Sandra J. Brown of this city; a sister, June Bartlow of Montoursville; a granddaughter, Laura D. Schreckengast; and two great-grandchildren. Lena O. Beal, 96, of 1445 Sycamore Road, Montoursville, formerly of 100 block Grove St., South Williamsport, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Sycamore Manor Health Center. Her husband, Joseph A. Beal, died Nov. 3, 1988. She retired from the former C. A. Reed Paper Company, city, where she was employed as a commercial artist. She was a lifelong member of South Williamsport United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women of the Church and was the church organist for more than 35 years. She attended the former Dickinson Seminary, now Lycoming College. She was a former member of DuBoistown Garden Club and the Bald Eagle Art League. She enjoyed painting. Born May 12, 1904, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Joseph H. and Rebecca Williams Olmstead. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph H. Olmstead and two sisters, Mildred A. Stroup and Geraldine Long. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Noll’s, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, with the Rev. R. Edward Cope officiating. MILDRED - Mary Angeline Calaman, 87, of this borough, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. She was a teacher for 40 years in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Following her retirement from the Sullivan County School system, she tutored many students at her home. She was a graduate of Cherry Township High School, received her teaching certificate from Mansfield State Teachers College, secured her Bachelor of Science Degree from Columbia University, New York City, and pursued postgraduate studies at Duke University and Marywood College. At age 63, she took additional postgraduate courses at Mansfield University and Marywood College, prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the Catholic Women’s Guild. She was involved with the R.C.I.A. program and assisted in translating and teaching the Italian Seminarians that visited the parish. She was a member of Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. Born Feb. 6, 1913, in Bernice, she was a daughter of Bernard and Marie Antoinette Columbo Calaman. Surviving are a brother, Joseph J. of Williamsville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eight brothers, Frank, Anthony, Vincent, Eugene, Roy, Dominic, Victor, and John; and five sisters, Anna Martinelli, Josephine Bianchi, Madeline Basci, Margaret Cenciarini, and Rose Arenda. The funeral will be at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Homer’s, 206 Water St., Dushore, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at the church, Mildred, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael B. Harris officiating. Norma M. Delai, 69, of 832 Wilson St., died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at home. She was retired from Lycoming College in the Housekeeping Staff. Born July 16, 1931, in Leetsdale, she was a daughter of Earl and Adeline Reis Edwards. Surviving are four daughters, Cheryl Jones and Kathy George, both of Ambridge, Patty Struggs of Rochester, N.Y. and Denise Friday in Connecticut; a brother, Earl Edwards of Ambridge; two stepbrothers, Gary and Terry Beamer, both of Allentown; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis and a brother, Ronnie Edwards. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, with the Rev.
