Donald M. "Don" Bogar, 79, of McClure R.R.2, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died 10:12 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where he had been a patient for five days.
Born in Port Trevorton, Sept. 6, 1924, he was a son of the late Irene B. Wolf.
Mr. Bogar was a 1942 graduate of Selinsgrove High School, and served in the Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Caldwell. During his three years aboard ship, he was involved in numerous campaigns in the South Pacific.
He graduated from Bliss Electrical School in Washington, D.C., after serving in the Navy. He began his employment with IBM in Harrisburg as a custom engineer and advanced to field engineering manager. He retired after 32 years of service in 1979.
Mr. Bogar was a member of Christ Church in Beaver Springs.
He was a member of the Erman E. Lepley American Legion Post 23 in Beaver Springs, McClure and Beaver Springs fire companies and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
After retiring, he lived on his farm and enjoyed gardening, building, hunting and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, the former Mary M. Herman, whom he married on Jan. 1, 1949, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Donna R.) Goff, Elkmont, Ala.; three sons: James D. Bogar, Mechanicsburg; Randall E. Bogar, Beavertown; and Richard M. Bogar, Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Marshall R. "Bud" Herman, Selinsgrove.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Church with the Rev. David Meckley officiating. Burial will be in Witmer's Church Cemetery, Port Trevorton R.R.1.
Bonnie L. Treon
Bonnie L. Treon, 60, of 429 N. Fifth St., Sunbury, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died Sunday evening, Sept. 28, 2003, at her home.
Born in Sunbury, May 13, 1943, she was a daughter of Dorothy (Brosious) Slack, Sunbury, and the late Howard Grady.
Mrs. Treon graduated from Sunbury High School in 1961 and was employed for 31 years as a dental assistant for Dr. William Rumberger Sr., Sunbury.
She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Sunbury.
Mrs. Treon was also a member of the Red Hat Society of Sunbury.
She enjoyed reading and was a sports fan, especially of the sports involving her grandchildren.

Treon Jr., Danville; and Donald F. Treon, Doylestown; eight grandchildren; and three sisters: Cheryl Darrah, Donna Slack and Carol Jones, all of Sunbury.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday in the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fourth and Vine streets, Sunbury. Burial will take place at a later date in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, under the direction of the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.

Myrtle G. Knouse
Myrtle G. Born in Penn Township, Snyder County, on Aug. 25, 1915, she was a daughter of the late A.P. and Victoria (Herman) Herman.

She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, and watching cooking shows on television.

John D. Uleau

John D. Born Feb. 20, 1934, in Westgrove, and raised in Lenni, he graduated from Media High School.
Upon graduation in 1952, Mr. Uleau was employed by Westinghouse in Lester. In 1953 he entered the Marines and served onboard the Tarawa CV-40 until his discharge in 1955. He resumed his employment and continued working there for 31 years.
He then worked for Tedeco in Glenolden for two years. In 1997, he and his wife, Helen, retired to Sweet Valley.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mary Uleau and a brother, Francis.
He is survived by his wife, Helen A. Uleau; daughters: Suzanne O'Brien and her daughter Colleen of Linwood; Caroline (Mark Haschak) of Glen Mills; son, Jeffrey (Diane) and their twin sons Austin and Justin of Fleetwood; brothers, Michael Uleau of Lenni, Patrick (Theresa) Uleau of Lenni, Thomas (Diane) Uleau of Maryland; nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday morning, Dec. 12, 2003, from 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:15 a.m. at St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church in Fairmount Springs with Rev. Joseph R. Kakareka. Bloomsburg man, WWII vet was clerk for Merck
Ted L. He had lived at his Scott Township residence for 50 years and had been in failing health for 2 years.
Mr. Parker was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Bloomsburg, a son of Mildred (Crawford) Parker and the late C. LaRue Parker. He attended Bloomsburg High School. Following high school he served with the U.S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Parker was employed as a receiving clerk in the Shipping and Receiving Department of Merck Cherokee Plant, where he retired in 1987 after 35 years of service.
Mr. Parker was a member of Washington Lodge 265 F&AM, Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg Archery Club and Willow Run Country Club. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, and he enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include, in addition to his mother, his wife: Diora (Fenstermacher) Parker, with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on Oct. 16; one daughter: Mrs. Bernard (Linda) Bafile of Bloomsburg; two sons: Chris L. Parker, husband of Kay, and Carl B. Parker, husband of Lynn, of Bloomsburg; 5 grandchildren: Mrs. Wayne (Nikki) Poe of Danville, Michael Parker of Bloomsburg; Michele Bafile of Bloomsburg, Randy Parker of Bloomsburg, and Brian Parker of Berwick; three great-grandchildren: Lauren and Kayla Poe and Morgan Parker; and a sister: Mrs. James (Doris) Jacobsen of Pinehurst, N.C.

Charles Jacob Brobst
Charles Jacob Brobst, age 89, 428 W. Ninth St., Bloomsburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died at 9:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Columbia-Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, where he had been a guest since Oct. 21, 2003.
He was born in Kaseville, Montour County, Feb. 4, 1914, a son of the late George and Lavina (Bryant) Brobst. His early life was spent in Montour County, where he attended the area schools. Prior to his entrance into the U.S. Army on Feb. 27, 1941, he sailed aboard a tanker for the Sun Oil Co.
During World War II, he served in northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. Brobst distinguished himself by meritorious service as a wire chief for the 71st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group during the defense of Cherbourg, France. In a period of five days, Sgt. Brobst renovated and rehabilitated the elaborate wire communications network required to provide an efficient early warning system. He kept communications operative by long painstaking work in severe and inclement weather without regard for himself.
Once again, in the defense of Antwerp, Belgium, he kept 1,500 miles of wires operative for 80 individual gun sites. Brobst was presented the Bronze Star Medal for gallantry. His sincerity and responsible actions served as an inspiration for all with whom he served. Previously, he had been awarded the American Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars. He was discharged from the Army on Dec. 2, 1945.
Following the war, he resided in Bloomsburg, where he was employed by John Robison as a finish carpenter and cabinetmaker for many years. He was involved in the early development of Sherwood Village. He was later employed by H. R. Erwine and Sons. For 12 years, he was employed at TRW in Danville. In 1982, he retired from the former Hidlay Oil Co., where he worked for three years transporting fuel from Baltimore to Bloomsburg. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Fire Department for more than 50 years, having originally been a member of the former Friendship Fire Co. He was a life member of the Bloomsburg Fireman's Relief Association and of the Bloomsburg Historic Preservation Society. He was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mr. Brobst traveled extensively throughout the United States. He recorded his experiences on film and processed the photographs in his own darkroom. He was a avid boater and, for many years, enjoyed fishing in the waters around his summer home in Rehoboth Beach, Del..
He and his wife, the former Eva P. Mausteller, would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve. He is also survived by a daughter, Bonnie A. Brobst, the wife of the Rev. Dr. Eric W. Gritsch, Baltimore, Md.; a son, Bloomsburg Councilman Bill Brobst, Bloomsburg; a sister, Emily Reichart, Tampa, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Damion M. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Bloomsburg.
Mr. Adams enjoyed cooking and loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a stepbrother, John L. Aikey Jr., Jersey Shore; his paternal grandparents: Marvin W. and Shirley J. Girton Adams, Danville; and his maternal grandfather, Duane Merrill, Lock Haven.

Etta M.
