Funeral services for Willowdean Gragg Blanton, 88 of Cookeville, were conducted March 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Goff Funeral Home with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial followed in the Sand Springs Memorial Gardens. She was born June 21, 1914, in Morgan County to the late James Thomas and Gustie Mae Norris Barnett. She passed away March 18, 2003, at her home. Ms. Blanton was a restaurant owner. In addition to her parents, two husbands Joseph Roscoe Gragg and Randall Austin Blanton, a daughter Claudean Gragg, two daughters-in-law Earlene and Gladys Gragg, three sisters Alta Mae Warden, Ginger Christofferson and Susie McPhertridge and eight brothers Elmer, Benton, Ross, Roy, Kenneth, Walter, Freddy and David Barnett preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons Charles Gragg and Billie and wife Adelle Gragg of Vines Ridge Community, seven grandchildren Pamela Sue Thomsen, Mary Ann Norrod, David Gragg, William Gragg, Daniel Gragg, Claudean Lackey and Shelby Gragg, twelve great-grandchildren Laura Harris, Elizabeth Burgess, Tonya Loftin, Lacey Pollitt, Brittney Gragg, Cassandra Gragg, Mikey Gragg, Daniel Norrod, Jeremy Pollitt, Justin Gragg, Dylan Gragg and Roscoe Gragg, four great-grandchildren Alex Pass, Madison Colson, David Lofin and Jacob Burgess, one sister Betty Mills of Detroit, MI and sister-in-law Evelyn Banks of Gadsden, AL.

WILLIAM C. (BILL) LANGFORD

Funeral services for William C. (Bill) Langford, 78 of Livingston, were conducted March 20, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Halliburton and Rev. Craig Green officiating. Burial followed in the Maxwell Chapel Cemetery. He was born March 24, 1924, in Overton County to the late George L. and Ethel Boles Langford. He passed away March 18, 2003, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Mr. Langford was a barber, a member of First United Methodist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran during WWII and worked for the Dept. of Transportation. He is survived by his wife Geneva Langford of Livingston, daughter Lisa and husband Jake Allen of Livingston and brother-in-law Aubrey Allen of Cookeville. Pallbearers were John Carlock, Billy Jim Little, Lon Gilpatrick, Bland Speck, Jerry Windle and Carl Peterman.

JAMES LOYD LEDBETTER, SR.

Funeral services for James Loyd Ledbetter, Sr., 85 of Cleveland, TN, were conducted March 21, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home with Kay Horner and Norman James officiating. Burial followed in the Robbins Cemetery. He was born March 18, 1918, in Overton County to the late Mose and Eula Robbins Ledbetter. He passed away March 18, 2003, at Bradley Healthcare and Rehab Center. Mr. Ledbetter was a truck driver and affiliated with the Church of God of Prophesy. In addition to his is parents, two wives Ethelene Ledford Ledbetter and Peggy Dingleline Ledbetter, daughter Marilyn James, brother Claude Ledbetter and sisters Odell Handy and Sally Cravens preceded him in death. He is survived by son James Loyd, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen Ledbetter of Baytown, TX, son-in-law Norman James of Acworth, GA, daughter Caroline Ledbetter of Cleveland, TN, brothers Leonard and Earl Ledbetter of Livingston, sister L.V. Baker or Portage, WI, two grandsons and two great-grandsons. Pallbearers were Matthew and Jason James, Leonard, Earl and Ricky Ledbetter and Lee Richardson.

JAMES VERELL SHELTON

Funeral services for James Verell Shelton, 80 of Livingston, were conducted March 19, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Watson officiating. Burial followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Reform, AL. He was born April 28, 1922, in Pickens County, AL to the late Talmage Herman and Nellie Gray Cox Shelton. He passed away March 18, 2003, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Mr. Shelton was a U.S. Marine Veteran during WWII, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS and a life member of VFW. He is survived by brothers Talmage Cox Shelton of Livingston and Billy L. Shelton of Raleigh, NC, sister Nell Keisling of Livingston, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

CHARLES D. WALKER
Farmer/Agee Oil Company
Funeral services for Charles D. Walker, 66 of Sparta, were conducted March 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Sparta First Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Jones and Bro. Doug Benningfield officiating. Burial followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. He was born Jan. 7, 1937, in White County to the late James Edward and Pearl Grace Bilbrey Walker. He passed away March 18, 2003, at White County Hospital. Mr. Walker was a farmer and worked for Agee Oil Company. He is survived by his wife Gail Qualls Walker of Sparta, sisters Virgie Dickey of FL, JoAnn Jones, Patsy Allison and Becky England of Sparta and Brenda Spurlock of Lavergne and several nieces and nephews.

DOUGLAS WARD ROBBINS
Funeral services for Douglas Ward Robbins, 66 of Byrdstown, were conducted March 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Byrdstown First Baptist Church with Charles Gibbs and Ivan Raley officiating. Burial followed in the Love-lady Sims Cemetery. He was born April 15, 1936, in Overton County to the late Winsted and Myrtle Reagan Robbins. He passed away March 18, 2003, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Robbins was a manufacturer's representative for the automotive industry and a farmer. He loved to play golf, make golf clubs, fly his plane and drink coffee and hang out with the gang. In addition to his parents, brothers Ralph and Harold and a grandson Justin Lee Smith preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Margaret "Margo" Robbins of Byrdstown, sons Wayne Robbins and wife Vickie of Cookeville and Terry Robbins of Nashville, daughter Julia Smith and husband Tim of Cumming, GA, grandchildren Sara, Rachel and Kallie, great-grandson Devon, brother Keith Robbins and wife Hollie of Monroe, sister Oleta Stanton and husband Fowler of Smithville, sisters-in-law Betty Robbins of Dayton, Evelyn Robbins of Gainesville, FL, Shirley Kinchen of Byrdstown and Judy Huddleston and husband Willie of Warren Robbins, GA and brothers-in-law and wives Herb and Jenny Groce of Byrdstown and Mike and Bonnie Groce of North Branch, MI.

BETTY GLEASON

Funeral services for Betty Gleason, 82 of Muddy Pond, were conducted March 21, 2003, at 6 p.m. at the Muddy Pond Independent Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Rudolph and Rev. Shawn Durham officiating. She was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Milford, CT to the late Fletcher and Ethel Washburn Williams. She passed away March 18, 2003, at her home. Ms. Gleason was a horse auctioneer and trader and a member of the Dar and the Mayflower Society. She is survived by one daughter Susan Whitham Doyle of Muddy Pond, two sons Craig F. Whitham of Muddy Pond and Barry Moore of Pureta Gallera, Philippines, one sister Shirley Rogers of Milford, CT, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

CECIL HARGIS

Funeral services for Cecil Hargis, 89 of Monterey, were conducted March 23, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Goff Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Goggins and Bro. Edward Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Welch Memorial Cemetery. She was born Nov. 22, 1913, in Crawford to the late Claude and Bleavy Ashburn Reeves. She passed away March 20, 2003, at Standing Stone Care and Rehab Center. Mrs. Hargis owned and operated a grocery store along with her husband and was a member of the Monterey Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband Kermit Hargis of Monterey, one daughter Phyllis and husband Jim Whittaker of Monterey, two grandchildren Sherry Whittaker of Monterey and Jimmy Whittaker and wife Marylin of Cookeville, one great-granddaughter Amber Whittaker, one sister Geneva Mitchell of Rockwood and one brother Ralph Reeves of Harriman. Nephews served as pallbearers and the adult Sunday school class at the Monterey Church of Christ served as honorary pallbearers.

LUCILLE HOLT BROWN

Funeral services for Lucille Holt Brown, 79 of Hilham, were conducted March 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Art Fannin officiating. Burial followed in the Spicer Cemetery. She was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Rutherford County to the late Garland Mann, Sr. and Maggie Rich Holt. She passed away March 19, 2003, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Mrs. Brown was a housewife and a member of Maxwell Chapel Church of God. In addition to her parents, husband Charlie Brown, brothers Waymon, Hugh and Eubert Holt and sister Elphia Holt Brown preceded her in death. She is survived by son Keith Brown of Hilham, daughter Edith Cunningham of Hilham, brothers Charles Holt of Warner-Robbins, GA, Garland (Sonny) Holt of Celina and Carson Holt of Indianapolis, IN, sisters Glena Holkem of Rickman, Wynell Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, Kay Day of Hilham and Ruth Fannin of Indianapolis, IN and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wayne, Garland, James and Gary Holt, Nathaniel Peek, Loyd Greenwood, Timmy and Roy Brown and Bruce and Danny Taylor.

JAMES EDWARD PEEK

Funeral services for James Edward Peek, 64 of Livingston, were conducted March 21, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Parkerson officiating. Burial followed in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. He was born March 15, 1939, in Overton County to the late Isaac and Syble Copeland Peek. He passed away March 19, 2003, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Mr. Peek was a factory worker for Norwalk Furniture and affiliated with the Livingston Church of God of Prophesy. In addition to his parents, a brother Donald Peek and sister Lucille Ledbetter preceded him in death. He is survived by a son Dwain Peek of Livingston, former wife Shelby Anderson of Gainesboro, brothers William Peek of Kingston Springs and Joe Peek of Nashville and sister Lillian Crabtree of Livingston. Pallbearers were Jerry and Carl Crabtree, Jim Swafford, Larry and Jimmy Peek and Bruce McDonald.

ROGER DALE MAYNORD

Funeral services for Roger Dale Maynord, 55 of Livingston, were conducted March 21, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial followed in the Hunter-Cove Cemetery. He was born Dec. 25, 1947, in Overton County to Void and Thelma "Bilbrey" Maynord. He passed away March 19, 2003, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Mr. Maynord was a truck driver and served in the Unites States Army during Vietnam. He was preceded in death by sister Elizabeth Maynord, infant brother Kenneth Maynord and granddaughter July Dillon. In addition to his parents, daughter Kim Dillon and husband Eric of Livingston, son Steve Young and wife Holly of Sparta, sister Jonesetta Johnson of Livingston, brothers Larry, Jerry and Durell Maynord of Livingston and three grandchildren survive him. Pallbearers were Rick Bowman, Dewayne Maynord, Dwain Bilbrey, Mitch Williams, Barry Johnson and Doug Maynord.

JOHN M. MEADOWS

Funeral services for John M. Meadows, 56 of Livingston, were conducted March 24, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Glenn Goggins officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. He was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Overton County to the late John Milton Meadows and Neoma Halfacre Meadows of Livingston. He passed away March 22, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Mr. Meadows was a home construction carpenter and a member of Livingston Church of Christ. In addition to his father, several aunts and uncles preceded him in death. In addition to his mother, his wife Barbara Meadows of Livingston, son John Meadows, III and wife Arlene of Sparta, daughter Dawn Wieneke and husband Jeff of Livingston, two granddaughters Avery and Allison Meadows and three sisters Margie Lewis of Livingston, Nancy Nelson of Algood and Gay Nolfo of Lavonia, MI.

FRANCES MARIE PYLANT

Funeral services for Frances Marie Pylant, 46 of Allons, were conducted March 1, 2003, at Louisa Freewill Baptist Church in Louisa with Rev. Vinny Vanhoose officiating. Burial followed in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens in Louisa. Ms. Pylant was born May 3, 1956, in Dayton, OH to Woodrow and Tommie Hall Wilson of Allons. She passed away Feb. 26, 2003, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Ms. Pylant was a medical billing clerk and attended Algood Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons Michael Robert Wilson and Christopher Daniel and Patrick Neal Pylant of Allons and a sister Ruth Carol Niswonger of Phoenix, AZ.

Delma L. Laycock
Mr. Delma L. Laycock, 81, passed away Jan. 22 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Jan. 24 at the Rickman-Hall Funeral Home. The family chose cremation after the services. Brother Jackie Wheeler officiated.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Laycock, David Laycock, Jeremy Laycock and Kelly Laycock.
Mr. Laycock was born April 21, 1923 in Overton County.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Belle Laycock of Rickman; four daughters, Faye Smith of Livingston, Shelia Laycock, Jewel McGuire and Madeline Webb, all of Rickman; one son, Kenneth Laycock of Rickman; two sisters, Mabel Ward and Emma Smith; four grandchildren also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Ella Bilbrey Laycock; two sisters, Vlasta Cash and Velma Laycock; three brothers, Frank, J.P. and Daniel Laycock.
