James C. Hodge
Services for James Charles Hodge, 54, of Murfreesboro, who died Sunday, Jan. 24, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center were held Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ala., with burial in Concord Cemetery in Hazel Green, Ala. The Rev. Lowranzy Overton Jr. officiated.
He was the son of the late Shelby Hodge and Lola Roland Hodge.
He is survived by a son, Hiram Hodge of Rockvale; a sister, Wilma Nix of Piqua, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Dalyn Hodge of Rockvale.
A native of Huntsville, Ala., he was a self-employed painter and a retired sessions drummer for RCA.

Christine Davenport
Services for Christine Hutchins Davenport, 74, of Readyville, who died Thursday, Jan. 28, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, after an extended illness, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodbury Funeral Home chapel with burial in Riverside Gardens.
She was the daughter of the late Jimmie T. Hutchins and Maggie Adams Hutchins and the widow of Daniel Oakley Davenport.
She is survived by daughters Veronica Hartman of Bradyville, Christola Davenport of Readyville, Patricia Friend of Ventura, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She attended Science Hill Church of Christ and was a homemaker.
Visitation will be until time of services today at the funeral home.

Isabell Herrod Crick
Services for Isabell Herrod Crick, 85, of Stewart Creek Road, who died Friday at Mayfield Rehabilitation Center of heart failure are scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at Jennings & Ayers Chapel, followed by burial in the Crick Family Cemetery, with Bill Fox officiating.
She was the daughter of the late Eph Herrod and Tinnie Sullivan Herrod, and was the widow of the late Sidney Crick who died in 1995. She is survived by sons Esque Crick of Arizona, Billy Crick of Murfreesboro and Willie Crick of Colorado; daughters Thelma Cross White, Maybell Hills and Betty Beland, all of Murfreesboro; 20 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Crick was a native of Rutherford County, who lived in Nashville for 30 years before moving back to Murfreesboro in 1995. She was a member of the Baptist Church, and a homemaker.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers Chapel.

Cornelia H. Herrod
Graveside services for Cornelia Hopkins Herrod, 80, who died Friday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Cemetery, with Paul Gray Cooper officiating.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Beulah Gannaway Hopkins, and the widow of the late James L. Herrod, who died in 1998. She is survived by sons David Herrod of Gadsden, Ala., and Donald Herrod, Mack Herrod, Jeff Herrod and Jim Herrod, all of Murfreesboro; daughters Ann Nickens, Connie Davis and Penny Vick, all of Murfreesboro; a brother, John H. Hopkins of Murfreesboro; sisters Gladys Puckett of Murfreesboro, Christine Adams and Sara Givens of Tacoma, Wash., Betty Jernigan of Milton, Mary Parker, Polly Johnson and Jean Poteete, all of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Herrod was a member of the Bethlehem Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Helen Lawson Smith
Services for Helen Lawson Smith, 66, of Dill Lane, who died Friday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, followed by burial in Mapleview Cemetery, with Jimmy Wright officiating.
A native of Carthage, she was the daughter of the late William Alexander and Mattie Mai Martin Lawson. She is survived by sons Kenneth R. Jenkins of Murfreesboro, and Michael Stagner of Smyrna; daughters Eva Burgess and Joyce Hudson, both of Smyrna; brothers Joseph Lawson of Bowling Green, Ky., and Russell Lawson of Hendersonville; a sister, Betty Watson of Nashville; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Baptist Church, and was retired from S.K. Wellman. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.

William Alsup
Services for William "Bill" Alsup, 84, of Adams Place, who died Saturday, Jan. 30, at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Wayne Langford will officiate.
A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Homer and Annie McRae Alsup.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Vance Alsup of Murfreesboro; son, Billy Alsup of Sugarland, Texas; daughter, Betsy Thurston of Charleston, W.Va.; three brothers, James Alsup and John Alsup, both of Murfreesboro, and Hubert Alsup of Florida; a sister, Carmine Alsup of Walter Hill; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Alsup was a member of East Main Street Church of Christ, and worked for many years as a parts salesman for Florida Brothers Auto Parts. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Jennings and Ayers Chapel.

Charles Murphy
Services for Charles "Bubber" Murphy, 85, who died Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Home, of cancer, will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. David Huffman will officiate.
He was the son of the late Charles M. and Nell Frye Murphy. He was preceded in death by son Bob Murphy.
He is survived by his wife, Leona O'Neil Murphy; sons Pat Murphy of Murfreesboro, Mike Murphy of Knoxville; and five grandchildren.
He was a retired football coach and athletic director at MTSU and a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.
Family visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Leon Alexander

He was the son of the late William Lee Alexander and Frances Hayes Alexander.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McAvoy Alexander; sons Jeff Alexander and Greg Alexander, both of Lascassas, Dwayne Alexander of Tuscumbia, Ala.; a brother, Donald Alexander of Lascassas; a sister, Glenner Dement of Lascassas; and seven grandchildren.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a construction superintendent with Robert S. Biscan Company and attended Dunaway Chapel Methodist Church.
