Corinne Davis Barrow Luce, 88, of Liberty died Dec. 4, 2000, at Golden Charm Nursing Center. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Houston National Veterans Affairs Cemetery in Houston under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Liberty. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Daisetta, she lived in Liberty most of her life and was a retired caterer and homemaker. Survivors include sons, Larry Gene Barrow of Magnolia Springs and Mike Barrow of Hardin; daughters, Martha Coggins of Conroe and Judy Coleman of Liberty; sister, Blanche Samson of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.

Lewis, “Shorty” Ray
Funeral for “Shorty” Ray Lewis, 49, of Bleakwood was held Thursday, December 22, at 2 p.m. in Kirbyville Memorial Funeral Home in Kirbyville. Burial was in Sand Ridge Cemetery in Newton County. He died Sunday, December 20, 1987 in DeQuincy, La. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Bleakwood area. Survivors include his parents, Grace and tom Lewis of Bleakwood; four daughters, Connie Huffman of Old Salem, Vicki Musslewhite of Florida, Patricia Sigler of DeQuincy, and Rhonda Lewis of Buna; five brothers, Thomas Lewis of Evadale, Floyd and Wayne Lewis of Kirbyville, A.C. Lewis of Kountze and Kenneth Lewis of Winnie; three sisters, Dorothy Jeans of Newton, Leona Sokler and Christine Bland of Bleakwood; and 10 grandchildren.

Lindsey, Rev. Carl Sr.
The Rev. Carl Lindsey Sr., 80, died Saturday, June 2, 1984 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont after an illness. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial in Antioch Cemetery. A native of Warren, he lived in Buna 40 years and was a retired foreman from United Gas and Pipeline Co. He was a Church of God minister and a longtime member of area gospel quartets. Survivors include his wife, Velma Boyd Lindsey; and a daughter, Linadene White, both of Buna; three sons, Carl Lindsey Jr. of Silsbee, Charles Lindsay of Sugar Land and Larry Lindsey of Buna; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lindsey, Judge E.A.
Former Dist. Judge E.A. Lindsey, 75, of Newton died at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Newton County Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Newton County and attended Sam Houston State Normal School at Huntsville. Lindsey taught school as a young man and was Newton County School Superintendent from 1921 to 1924. From 1927 to 1930 he was county judge here, and he practiced law in Newton from 1931 to 1945. From 1942 to 1948 was county attorney. He was judge of the 1st Judicial District, comprising Newton, Jasper, San Augustine and Sabine Counties, from 1949 to 1956. He was an Army Veteran of World War I. He maintained his law office in Newton until his death. Lindsey was a member and past master of Rainbow Masonic Lodge 735. He was a veteran of World War 1 and was a member of the board of stewards of the First Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Griner Funeral Home. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Hattie Lindsey.

Long, Herbert C. Sr.
Funeral services for Herbert C. Long Sr., 77, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kirbyville Cemetery. Long died Wednesday, May 30, 1973 in a Jasper hospital. He was a native of Stephenville and a livestock dealer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lenora Loftin Long; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Byrun, Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. Alma Hebert, Nederland; and two sons, H.C. Long Jr., Silsbee, and Elmer Long Lafayette, Colorado.

Johney Long, 45, of Buna died Jan. 27, 2001, at his residence. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Restland Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Kirbyville, he lived in Buna many years and was the McDonald Car Wash manager. KIRBYVILLE – Ann Elizabeth Ross Lott, 82, of Kirbyville died at 12 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital after an illness. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Bean Cemetery. A native of Newton County, she had lived in Kirbyville most of her life. Survivors include four daughters, Esthereene Morgan of Orange, Marjorie Green and Wanda McClelland, both of Vidor, and Vera West of Kirbyville; three sons, R.C. Lott of Vidor and Nathan Lott and Buddy Lott, both of Kirbyville; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mildred Fuqua Lott, 72, of Kirbyville died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 at her residence. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Antioch Cemetery. A native of Silsbee, she lived in Buna most of her life. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Smith of Buna; daughters, Velma Stimits of Buna, Connie Fountain of Mauriceville and Jerri Fletcher of Boyce, La.; sister, Sarah Snoke of Buna; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Esther Amanda Love, 87, of Newton died Dec. 16, 2000, at Shady Acres Nursing Home. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill with burial at Mt. Sinai Cemetery. A native of Pisgah, La., she lived in Hemphill and Newton and was a homemaker. Survivors include her son, William Joe Love of Newton; daughter, Glenda Hardy of Liberty; sister, Madie Ladner of Hemphill; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Love, Rev. Grady Edward
Funeral for the Rev. Grady Edward Love, 77, of the Lewis Chapel community was held January 10 at Lewis Chapel Church under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home of Kirbyville. Masonic graveside services were held in the Sand Ridge Cemetery. He died Wednesday, January 8, 1986 in Newton County after an illness. A native and lifelong resident of Newton County, he was a former county commissioner. He was the current Newton County Precinct 1 Constable and was also a minister. Survivors include his wife, Irene Siau Love of Lewis Chapel; six sons, Ernest Love and Harold Love, both of Newton, Robert Love of Nederland, Wayne Love of Kirbyville, Ennis Love of Virginia and Lloyd Love of Kirbyville; two daughters, Lois Gallagher of Houston and Mary Stark of Newton; a brother, Robert Love of Burkeville; four sisters, Josie McClelland, Betty Knighton, R.V. Moak and Myrtis Evans, all of Lewis Chapel; 33 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services For Newton Native to Be Held This Afternoon
KIRBYVILLE, Texas, June 1, (Spl) – John Henry Love, 81, died at his home in Kirbyville at noon Sunday following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Newton county but had lived in Kirbyville for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Pentecostal church. Funeral services will be held in the Bean cemetery Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. G.A. Young and Rev. R.H. Simmons, Pentecostal ministers, conducting graveside rites. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maudie Love; two sons, Perry Love of Kirbyville and Joe Love of Votaw; three daughters, Mrs. Taylor Herrin, Mrs. Lulu Rogers, both of Kirbyville, and Mrs. Florence Evans of Jasper; one sister, Mrs. Bertie Joiner of Hartburg; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are under direction of the E.E. Stringer Funeral home of Kirbyville.

Robert "Rob’’ Love, 90, of Burkeville died Aug. 7, 2001, at his residence. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Evans, La., with burial at Sycamore Cemetery in Burkeville under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. A native of Bleakwood and a longtime resident of Burkeville, he was a retired logger. Survivors include his wife, Gussie Love of Burkeville; sons, Robert E. Love of Anacoco, La., Johnnie R. Love and Jerry Love, both of Burkeville, and Terry Love of Beaumont; daughters, Jimmie Lee Edwards of Newton, Shirley Brackin of Burkeville and Dorothy Wright of Beaumont; sisters, Josie Knighton, R.V. Mrs. M.B. Luman, 90, of Jasper died Tuesday, September 1, 1997 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today at Mt. Herman Cemetery near Center under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. A native of Shelby County, she lived in Kirbyville 43 years before moving to Jasper 10 years ago. Survivors include a son, Emmet Luman of Nacogdoches; three daughters, Viola Parker of Kirbyville, and Irene Fountain and Aola “Skin” Fountain, both of Jasper; a brother, Noel Mancil of Bronson; a sister, Forie Wilkerson of Orange; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Robert L. Lumpkin, 61, of Shreveport, La., will be at 2 p.m. today at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home chapel with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery. Lumpkin died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Veterans Administration Hospital in Shreveport after an illness. He was a native of Buna and lived in Lufkin and Texas City before moving to Shreveport several years ago. He was an employee of the Louisiana Highway Department. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Lumpkin of Shreveport, David and Steve Lumpkin, both of Vista, Calif., and Art Lumpkin of the U.S. Armed Forces; and mother, Mrs. Victor Rogers of Buna; three brothers, Elray Lumpkin of Taft, Calif., Burnett Lumpkin of San Francisco, Calif., and Gerald Lumpkin of Lufkin; and a sister, Lavelle Cooper of Lufkin.

Lynch was employed at the Schafer Oil Tool Company in Beaumont and was the minister at North End Baptist Church in Kirbyville.
