Mike Nichols
Juneau resident Mike Nichols, 49, died July 21, 1998, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from medical complications following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife Maureen Smith of Juneau.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
C. Edward Stitt
Juneau resident C. Edward Stitt died Friday, July 10, 1998, at Bartlett Regional Hospital. He was 92. Memorial services will be held Monday in Marietta, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 2, 1905, in Bridgeport, Conn. He graduated from Marietta College and the University of Cincinnati law school. He lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked as an attorney and an accountant. He was active in the Masons.
After retirement, he settled in Marietta, Ohio. This spring he and his wife Frances moved to Juneau to live with their daughter and her family.
Stitt and his wife had visited Juneau a number of times before moving here. His family said he greatly enjoyed meeting the people of Juneau and the natural beauty of the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Frances, daughter and son-in-law Barbara and McKie Campbell, and granddaughter Mary Campbell, all of Juneau.
Archie J. Edmiston
Former Douglas resident Archie J. Edmiston, 81, died June 17, 1998, in Winter Garden, Florida. Graveside services were held June 22, in Winter Garden.
Edmiston was born April 22, 1917, in Douglas, to James and Mary Kennedy Edmiston. He graduated from Douglas High School.
Edmiston was a veteran of World War II, having served in Africa during the invasion of Sicily and Omaha Beach in France. He also served for 21 years in the Coast Guard and 15 years as a radar controller specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mann.
He is survived by his sister, Elsie Hill of Anchorage; cousins Roberta Johnson of Douglas and Jessie Mack of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
William Bernardo (Carillo) Giblin
Former Juneau resident William "Willie Boy" C. Giblin died July 10, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nev. Public viewing will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Alaskan Memorial park. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with a reception following at Tlingit Haida Community Center.
Giblin was born on May 14, 1977, in Juneau, to Ron and Emmlyn Giblin. He attended Floyd Dryden Middle School and Juneau-Douglas High School until his family moved to Reno, Nev. in 1995.
He enjoyed the outdoors, football, basketball, and working on his 1977 truck. He played for the Juneau Youth Football League.
Giblin will be remembered for his affectionate and loving nature, his family said.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Rita Giblin of Ohio.
He is survived by his parents Ron and Emmlyn Giblin of California; brother Mark, also of California; paternal grandfather William Giblin of Ohio; maternal grandparents Bernardo Carrillo of the Philippines and Mary Carrillo of Nevada; aunts and their spouses, Sol and Galeo Casidsid of Nevada, Linda and Michael Taylor of Juneau, Editha and Fred Harris of Anchorage, Virginie and Wilbert Yap of Oregon, and Mary Kathleen Giblin of Ohio; uncles and their spouses, Nelson and Luz Carrillo, Blas and Becky Carrillo, and William and Nanie Carrillo, all of Juneau, Elmer and Yoly Carrillo of the Philippines, and Gregg Giblin of Ohio; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbearers are Mark Giblin, Ryan Carrillo, Jun-Rey Abella, Laurel Casidsid, Leo Carrillo, Fredrick Harris, Arneil Casidsid, Brent Yap, Ettel Palomada David Fermin, Jared Foster, and Tony Parr. Honorary pallbearers are Gregg Giblin, Galeo Casidsid, Nelson Carrillo, Michael Taylor, Fred Harris, Blas Carrillo, William Carrillo, and Wilbert Yap.

Arthur James "Jim" McHardy
Former Juneau resident Arthur James "Jim" McHardy recently died in Phoenix, Ariz. His family believes he died between July 3 and 6, 1998, but the exact date is not known. Private services were held in San Diego, Calif., on July 10, 1998.
Fobe Peres
Juneau resident Fobe Peres died July 16, 1998. A gathering of her friends will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Glacier Gardens visitor's center, the botanical gardens at 7 mile Glacier Hwy.
Wilbur Lindoff
Former Juneau resident and lifelong southeast Alaskan Wilbur Lindoff died July 16, 1998, at Mount Edgecumbe hospital in Sitka. He was 72. Services were held today in Hoonah.
He was born May 1, 1926, to Otto and Mary (Watson) Lindoff in Hoonah. His Tlingit name was Sh-gi-naan. He attended Hoonah schools and served in the Army National Guard in Hoonah and Juneau. He married Jennie James in Hoonah on June 3, 1949.
He was a commercial fisherman, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and living off the land - picking berries and gathering gumboots, clams and cockles. He was a fluent speaker of Tlingit, and his family writes that he loved his Native culture. He was a lifetime member of the Alaska Native Brotherhood. He was widely known among his friends and family as "The Governor."
Survivors include his wife Jennie Lindoff, daughter Cathy Lindoff, son Steve Lindoff, granddaughters Roxanne and Suzanne Lindoff, all of Hoonah, sister Esther Kaze and brother John Lindoff.
