Donald Wade Murray
Donald Wade Murray died Oct. 14, 2001, in Juneau.
He was born Aug. 27, 1916, in Central City, Colo., and came to Juneau after serving in World War II and earning an engineering degree in Colorado. He married Margaret Eleanor Pearce of Douglas in 1963, and worked for 30 years in construction engineering.
He was a member of the Elks' Lodge, and enjoyed remodeling and restoring his home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Pearce Murray.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Mary Pearce Hartley Fleek and her family of California; long-time family friend Miriam Lowe; and his friends at the Lucky Lady.
Donald J. Schultz
Donald J. Schultz died Oct. 21, 2001, in his home in Juneau after a battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Mandan, N.D., to Harriet (Suverly) and Henry Schultz. He graduated from high school in Riverdale, N.D., and in 1964 he received his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho.
He joined the U.S. Forest Service in 1966 in Denver, Colo., as a mechanical engineer. In 1981 he transferred to the Juneau office where he remained until his retirement in 1994.
Schultz enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. He was a volunteer equipment manager during the 1980s for both Gastineau Channel Little League and the Juneau Youth Football League. He enjoyed house construction, and he designed and built a cabin, a family room addition and two homes. His last project was his retirement home, the brick house on Killewich Drive in Juneau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lenora Pederson, foster-father Arnold Pederson, and brother Harold Schultz.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna, Juneau; daughter Deborah and her husband Kent Hart, North Douglas; son Matthew and his wife Glynis, Fairfield, Texas; sister Lorraine and her husband Richard Chyles, Mandan, N.D.; sister Judy and her husband Paul Stein, Minot, N.D.; sister-in-law Donna Schultz, Pendleton, Ore.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. The family invites friends and relatives to join them in remembering Don's life between 5 and 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at 3879 Killewich Drive. Donations may be made to Hospice and Home Care of Juneau or to Gastineau Channel Little League.
Jimmie Campbell
Jimmie Lewis Campbell died Oct. 1, 2001, in Arco, Idaho.
He was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Albion, Ind., to Charles and Gertrude Campbell. He attended high school in Avilla, Ind., and then joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Juneau in the early 1950s, and he made his home here until he retired in 1997.
Campbell worked as a Teamster on the trans-Alaska pipeline and Yukon River bridge projects. He also worked as a commercial fisherman, carpet layer, mortician and eventually a heavy equipment operator and foreman for the Juneau street department.
Upon retirement, he moved with his wife, Carole, to Arco, Idaho, where they pursued hobbies such as raising horses, fishing, hunting and motorcycling.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Boyd and Walter, and daughter Christina.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; daughters Colleen Campbell, Catherine Walkotten, Shannon Pusich and Patricia Marko; stepsons Bruce and Bryon Gutschmidt; brother Harold Campbell; sister Mary Stadtfeld; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was held in Arco, Idaho, on Oct. 6, 2001. The family can be contacted at Rt. 1, Box 209, Arco, Idaho, 83213.
Dwight W. 'Bill' Dean
Dwight W. "Bill" Dean died on Oct. 23, 2001.
He was born in Seattle, Wash., on Feb. 22, 1912, to Dwight P. and Edith T. Dean. He spent his youth in Everett, Wash., and graduated from the University of Washington in 1938. He later obtained a degree in secondary education from the University of Alaska, and went on to receive his master's degree in education from the University of Washington in 1948.
Following ROTC training at the University of Washington, Dean was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served in World War II, and was commissioned a major in the Alaska Air National Guard in 1950. He continued his part-time status with the National Guard until he retired as a colonel in June 1969.
Dean moved his family to Juneau in 1948 and took a job with the school district. He taught a variety of subjects at Juneau-Douglas High School, and retired in July 1973.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing and flying. He also built trails and public cabins on U.S. Forest Service land around Juneau. He was active in the Lions Club, Juneau Ski Club, Civil Air Patrol, and served on the Fish and Game Advisory Board.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Gertrude Dean; son William T. Dean and his wife Sylvia; daughters Marcia Rohweder and her husband Gary, and Susanna Dean Sutton; grandchildren, Capt. Arleigh W. Dean, Jeremiah Dean and wife Jennifer, Marty Dean, Cadet Joshua Dean, Brooke Rohweder, Chelsea Rohweder, Shaunna Yates, and four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service was held at Valley Chapel on Oct. 26. A reception is planned for 4:00-5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at the Northern Light United Church.

Allen Joseph Donnelly
Allen Joseph Donnelly died Oct. 28, 2001, in Anchorage.
He was born to the Kagwanton Wolf Tribe, Wolf House of Klukwan, on March 23, 1936, to Dora and Lee Donnelly. He attended elementary school in Klukwan and graduated from Mount Edgecumbe High School. He attended culinary art school and worked as a cook at pipeline camps in the Arctic. He also worked for Long Island Development Co. and Klukwan Forest Products.
Donnelly was a member of Klukwan Inc., Sealaska Corp., the Anchorage Chapter of the Tlingit and Haida Central Council, and the Alaska Native Brotherhood. He loved cooking, watching basketball, and doing word search puzzles.
He is survived by his companion of 28 years, Elsie McKinney, Anchorage; daughter Jonelle Johnson and her husband Wilford; stepson Matthew Susook, Anchorage; stepdaughter Danielle Kamealoha, Hawaii; Anthony Zoltac, Anchorage, whom he considered his son; brother Wilbur Donnelly and his wife Bernice, Juneau; brother James Donnelly, Sitka; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Rhoda Fox, Irene and Patrick Stowell, Anchorage, Clara and Larry Henderson; five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A service was held Thursday, Nov. 1, in Anchorage. Burial will be in the Klukwan Inc. cemetery.
