James Albert Anderegg
Longtime Juneau resident James Albert Anderegg died Oct. 25, 2004, in Green Valley, Ariz.
He was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Port Arthur, Texas. He attended the University of Cincinnati and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and became a civil engineer. He was a World War II veteran. He served in the U.S. Army as a captain and served in the Philippines Public Health Service.
He moved his young family to the territory of Alaska in 1957. Arriving in Anchorage after a long, dusty trip on the Alcan, the family stayed in Anchorage through the celebration of statehood, but left shortly before the Good Friday earthquake.
The family returned to Alaska in 1968, moving to Juneau. He began working for the state Department of Health and Social Services and later the newly formed Department of Environmental Conservation. He and his wife were active members of the Chapel by the Lake. After he retired, the couple moved to Saipan, where he was employed by the Trust Territory of the Northern Marianas.
Upon his second retirement, the couple moved to the island of Hawaii. Their last move was to Green Valley, Ariz., where they took up residence in La Posada, a senior community.
His family said, "Throughout his life, Jim was a giving man, involved with his church and community and yet always available for his family. He will be missed by all those who knew him."
He is survived by his wife, Abbie (Ronnie) Anderegg of Green Valley; his daughters, Judith Anderegg of Palmer, Alaska, and Susan Anderegg of Bozeman, Mont.; and his sons, James Anderegg Jr., of Los Alamos, N.M., and Peter Anderegg of Juneau.
Memorial services will be held Nov. 13 in Green Valley.

Steven T. Clark
Longtime Juneau resident Steven T. Clark, 35, died Dec. 22, 2004.
He was born Aug. 13, 1969, to John and Virginia Clark in Buffalo, N.Y.
He worked for the Juneau Empire for 12 years as a driver and also worked at Mapco, Pizza Hut/Kentucky Fried Chicken.
His family says, "He was a very loving partner and went out of his way to do things for his friends and family. He will be missed by all."
He loved to play cards, especially Cribbage when he had a perfect card and a 28 or 29.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Clark of Petersburg, and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his partner of 15 years, Rick Callahan of Juneau; his step-daughter, Felicia of Oregon; his father, John A. Clark of Petersburg; brothers, Ray Clark of New York, John M. Clark, Dennis and Christopher, all of Oregon; sisters, Sandy Johnston, Pat Wheaton and Elizabeth, all of Juneau; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at the Eagles Aeries No. 4200, across from Evergreen Ford. All friends are welcome.
Ruth E. Willard
Former Southeast Alaska resident Ruth E. Willard, 66, died of natural causes on Dec. 14, 2004, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.
She was born April 6, 1938, in Angoon to Robert Sr. and Lucy (Nelson) Jamestown. She graduated from high school and completed two years of vocational technical training at Mt. Edgecumbe. She was a legal secretary with the Alaska Court System until her retirement.
She enjoyed beading, crocheting, camping, fishing, clam digging, berry picking and traveling.
Her family wrote, "Ruth was caring and compassionate. She encouraged her family to actively participate in their Tlingit culture. She will be missed by many, but will live on in our hearts and memories."
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert Jamestown Jr. and Alfred Jamestown.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Willard of Albany, New York; grandson, Eli Martin of Anchorage; great-grandson, Davien of Anchorage; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Lawrence Marvin of Anchorage; sisters, Connie Vierthaler and Robert Kvasnikoff of Kodiak; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eli and Lillian Jamestown of Angoon, and Victor and Gladys Jamestown of Juneau; and brother, Norman Jamestown of Taholah, Washington; and numerous, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage with Paul Marks officiating. Pallbearers included Dennis Willard, Bobby Marvin, Spencer Vierthaler, Chris McDonald, Patrick Lamp, Fred Abyo, Jesse Stutzke and Bill Reynolds.
Arrangements were made with Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage.
Blanche (Bonnie) E. Bernier
Lifelong Alaskan and past resident of Juneau, Blanche (Bonnie) E. Bernier, 75, died peacefully in her sleep in Seward on Dec. 15, 2004, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in Anchorage and traveled between Seward, Anchorage and Curry as her father worked on the Alaska Central Railroad. She attended school in Seward, graduating in 1947. She worked with Seward Utilities and Northern Stevedoring until the 1964 earthquake, then moved to Anchorage and took a job with Weaver Brothers.
In 1967 she moved back to Seward and worked with the Alaska Department of Labor, also working in the Kenai, Anchorage and Juneau offices, until her retirement in 1985. Her passions were reading, bowling, dancing and volunteering for local organizations and charities.
She was past president and member of Seward Emblem Club, Pioneers of Alaska, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Bowling Association and Alaska State Employees Association. She also had an honorary membership to the Seward Elks Club because her father, Arthur Gray, was a charter member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Blanche Gray, and son, David Harris, all of Seward.
She is survived by her children, Linda Amberg, Joseph Ravnik and Robbie Bernier of Seward, Jayne Ravnik and husband John of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Doug Maliski of Whittier and Jan Feller of Kenai; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Seward Emblem Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1357, Seward, AK 99664.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Thorns Showcase Lounge in Seward.

Donald Dugaqua
Kake resident Donald Dugaqua, 59, died Jan. 29, 2005, in Kake.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m., Feb. 3 at the ANB hall in Juneau.
