Victoria "Tori" RoseAlynn Wilson
Victoria "Tori" RoseAlynn Wilson, born Aug. 6, 1999, died on October 21 at Children's Hospital in Seattle due to complications from a Cord Blood Transplant.
Tori is survived by her mother, Linda Wilson-Mother; father, Mark Cook; sister Kirsten Stephenson; brothers Andrew Stephenson, Little Mark Cook and Michael Bagoyo; grandmother Ernestine Hanlon-Abel; grandfather Tom Abel; grandmother Shirley Bagoyo; and great-grandmother, Audrey James
Tori is preceded in death by "Cecil" Cresencio Bagoyo, Sr. - Great Grandfather.
Tori is remembered most by her strong will her polite mannerisms and genuine smile. "Tori" loved to cuddle and have people sing to her.
Earlier this year a community joined in a drive to search for a possible Bone Marrow match. Organizations responsible for this drive includ the Juneau Empire, Capital City Weekly, REACH, Bartlett Regional Hospital, Juneau Public Health, Diane Sly, SEARHC, Dr. "Amy" Dressel, Children's Hospital, Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes, the Filipino Community and KTOO.
Funeral Services are open to the public and will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. in the United Pentecostal Church at 16500 Old Glacier Highway. A memorial will be announced at the funeral.
Pallbearers will be Robert Watson, Lee Bagoyo, Tom Abel and Paul Boggs.
Donations can be made to Linda Wilson, in trust of Victoria Wilson, at Alaska Pacific Bank.
Robert A. Rausch
Juneau resident Robert A. Rausch, 73, died of an apparent heart attack Saturday, Oct. 26, near Iowa City, Iowa. He had been hunting pheasant with his brother Clair Rausch, and his Labrador retriever had just delivered a couple of birds to him.
Born on June 26, 1929, in Sumner, Iowa, Rausch moved to Alaska in 1955. Before statehood, he worked as a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Anchorage. In 1959 he continued his wildlife work, but with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in Fairbanks.
His research on wolves and moose became known internationally. He was later director of the statewide Division of Game, Department of Fish and Game, until his retirement in 1978.
Rausch received his undergraduate degree in biology at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and his master of science degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. He was a hunter, fisherman and trapper.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven Rausch and his parents Arlie and Myrtle Rausch.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Arthur; daughter Ann Rausch; brothers Clair Rausch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lee Rausch of Tripoli, Iowa; and Joe Rausch of Rivera, Mo.
There are no memorial services planned at this time. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Alaska Outdoor Council, P.O. Box 73902, Fairbanks, AK 99707-3902.
Robert V. Blankenship
Juneau resident Robert V. Blankenship died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, in Juneau.
He was born in Sitka on Sept. 15, 1953. Most of his life was spent in Sitka until he moved to Juneau in 1999. He was a commercial fisherman and a heavy-equipment operator.
He is survived by four children, Paul of Sitka; Laura and Cecilia of Juneau; Jessica and her husband Ira of Ramstein, Germany; grandson Andrew; parents Vaughn and Marian Blankenship of Sitka; grandmother Rose Marvin of Sitka; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Annette Blankenship of Sitka; sister and brother-in-law Rose and Al Risley of Juneau; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A prayer service was held at onNov. 2, at the Cathedral of the Nativity. Funeral services will take place in Sitka at a later date.
Ramona 'Dolly' McVay
Former Juneau resident Ramona "Dolly" (Nicklie) McVay died Oct. 28, 2002, in her Port Angeles, Wash., home.
She was born to Henrietta Haberman and the late Wilson Nicklie Sr. on Nov. 21, 1960, in Anchorage.
She is survived by her grandmother Elizabeth Katasse and mother Henrietta Haberman of Sitka; children Scott, Melissa, Tammy and Timothy McVay of Tillamook, Ore.; grandchildren Cody, Drake, Jullian, Taelee and Brooke; brothers Wilson Nicklie Jr., Tim Katasse Sr., and Shane Abbott of Juneau; sisters Janice Nicklie and Edna Abbott of Juneau, Janet Armer of Sitka, and Betty Abbott-Smith of Port Angeles, Wash., and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Henry Katasse Sr. of Kake, and her uncle Henry Katasse Jr. of Hoonah.
Pallbearers are Irving Katasse, Wilson Nicklie Jr., Shane Abbott, Carl Larsen Jr., Wilson Carlos, Clarence "Buzzy" Dick, Lester Davis and Robert "Rabbit" Davis. Honorary pallbearers are: John Katasse Sr., Chuck Katasse, Jeff Katasse, Garfield Katasse, James Katasse, Tim Katasse Sr., Sam Pedro, Carl Larsen Sr., Violet Jamison, Clare Bernhardt and Joni Roberts.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Salvation Army Hall in Sitka followed by a reception. Visitation and viewing is at 2 p.m.
Lois L. Weeks
Juneau resident Lois L. Weeks, 71, died Oct. 22, 2002, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
She was a member of Juneau Baptist Church. She retired after 20 years as a receptionist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
She was preceded in death by her sibling, Vivian Phillips.
She is survived by her sons Kelley P. (Anna) Sharp of Juneau; and Eric W. (Ellen) Weeks of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren Jennifer P. Sharp and Andrea M. Sharp, both of Juneau; Emma D. Weeks and Ethan D. Weeks, both of Portland, Ore.; and sister Bonnie Middagh of Metropolis, Ill.
Graveside services were held Oct. 26 at Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery in Massac County, Ill., with the Rev. David Deem officiating.
