Robert E. Brososky Jr.
Former Juneau resident Robert E. "Robbie" Brososky, Jr., 34, died Nov. 6, 2002, in Lincoln, Neb.
He was born Sept. 6, 1968, in Juneau.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Sol and Vera Brososky and parents Robert "Bob" and Sybil Brososky.
He is survived by his brother Keith and wife Ruth Anne Brososky of Juneau; sister Faith Guthert of Juneau; aunt Maxine Evern of Juneau; uncle Butch Brososky of Michigan; aunt Colleen Brososky of Washington; grandmother Muriel Walden of Florida; nephew Travis and many cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Breakwater today at 5 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend.
Elisabeth Jeanne Erbes
Juneau resident Elisabeth Jeanne Erbes (formerly Betty Fuller) died Nov. 15, 2002, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.
She was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Tacoma, Wash., to Carl and Margaret Lucas. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1949 and moved to Alaska with her family in 1956. She lived in Juneau from 1957 to 2002.
Her family said she enjoyed gardening, cooking, Mariners baseball, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Joseph and Robert Lucas.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Cindy) Fuller; daughter Susan (Rick) Daugherty; grandchildren Ambre (Nico) Willis; Kristel, Justin, and Steven Fuller; Eric and Brendan Daugherty; great-grandchildren Kyla and Kaitlin Willis; sister Linda (Bob) Anderson, and numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Chapel by the Lake.
The family requests that remembrances be made to the Elisabeth Erbes Memorial Fund, c/o Key Bank, 8800 Glacier Highway, Juneau, AK 99801.
Betty Walmer
Juneau resident Betty Walmer, 86, died Nov. 25, 2002, in Juneau, after a prolonged illness.
She was born Mary Elizabeth Campbell on Feb. 11, 1916, to Alma and Glenn Campbell, in Mercer, N.D., the third of four children. Her family settled in Auburn, Wash., where she graduated from high school. She and Richard Walmer were married in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1938, where he was stationed with the U.S. Army. After Pearl Harbor she and her infant were evacuated from the islands, but she later rejoined her husband to support him throughout his military career in the United States and overseas.
When he retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1956, they settled in Puyallup, Wash., where he commuted to Boeing for 16 years and her two daughters finished high school. After he retired from Boeing, the couple moved to Olalla, where they built a home. Her husband passed away in 1993, and Betty moved to Tacoma in 1997 and to Juneau in 2001.
She is survived by older brother George Campbell of Tacoma, Wash.; younger sister Doris Peterson of Puyallup; daughters Sharon Buchli of Deerfield, Wis., and Michelle Morrell of Juneau; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
At her wish, no services are being held. Instead of flowers, the family asks remembrances be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Florence L. Taylor
Former Juneau resident Florence L. Taylor, 94, died Nov. 10, 2002, in Fremont, Calif., following a long illness.
She was born Sept. 24, 1908, to Charles and Christina Loebnitz, in Telluride, Colo. She graduated from Telluride High School, and from the University of Colorado School of Nursing in 1932.
She moved to New York City and worked as a registered nurse for the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital at Ellis Island. While there, she met and married Bill Taylor.
In 1935 they moved to Auke Bay. Florence worked as a nurse at the Native Health Service Hospital in Juneau. Florence built a cabin on Auke Lake and Bill worked at the AJ Mine. After the mine closed, they moved to Fairbanks.
After a number of years there, they moved to Northern California to a ranch. Florence worked many years as a nurse at hospitals and nursing homes in California.
Her family said she loved people and nursing. Some of her favorite memories were working with the immigrants at Ellis Island and with Tlingits at the hospital in Juneau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn T. Taylor of Tenakee Springs; son Patrick M. Taylor and daughter-in-law Marilyn F. Taylor of Juneau; daughter Sally Bartlett of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and grandson Ben Taylor of Auke Bay.
At Florence's request, there was no memorial service and her ashes will be scattered at sea.
John William Elsner
Longtime Juneau resident John William Elsner died Jan. 25, 2003, at his residence in Juneau.
He was born on March 12, 1945, in Palmer. He graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School, attended University of Alaska Fairbanks, and served in the Alaska National Guard. He worked for Pacific Northern Airlines, Western Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and William Elsner.
He is survived by his son, Michael William Elsner of Juneau.
A service will be held at Alaskan Memorial Park at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31.
