Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Benefield died Saturday, Aug. 11, in Manchester, Tenn. He was born July 21, 1964. He was a veteran of the Army, having served in the military for over 19 years, and was a member of the U.S. Army Band stationed at Ft. Gordon, Ga. He was a 1982 graduate of Holly Pond High School. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Stricklin Benefield of Smyrna, Tenn.; two daughters, Meagan Benefield and Kristen Benefield, both of Smyrna, Tenn.; mother, Martha Lorine Benefield of Holly Pond; father, George William Benefield of Holly Pond; a brother, Raymond Benefield of Cullman; two sisters, Janet (Joseph) Williams of Ardmore, Tenn., and Saundra (Rick) Howell of Mt. (Schaefer Co.) after 40 years of service. He also served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, two years of that as a switchboard operator in the Panama Canal area. She was born March 2, 1913 in Cullman County to James William and Emely Henderson Peak. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Albert James Harris. Survivors include two sons, Harold Harris of Vinemont and Jerry Harris of Addison; a sister, Eva Watts of Cullman; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation was Monday.

Cebell West Knighten Walling
Services for Cebell West Knighten Walling, 87, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001 at Blue Springs Baptist Church in Morgan County, the Rev. Robert “Bobby” Smith officiating, with burial in Blue Springs cemetery. The body will lie in state two hours prior to the service. Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Walling died Monday, Aug. 20 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born May 4, 1914 in Morgan County to J. W. and Mattie Brown West. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include two sons, Herschel (Julie) Knighten of Ragland and Rockey Lane (Sharon) Knighten of Union Hill; three daughters, Bonnie K. (Rufus “Tate”) McAnnally of Garden City, Shirley K. Hammon of Cullman, and Jody K. (Frank) Harbison of Crane Hill; two daughters-in-law, Oneal B. Knighten of West Point and Pat Knighten of Pollard, Ark.; a sister, Obdie Thompson of Hulaco; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Kenneth H. Smith
Services for Kenneth H. Smith, 75, of Cullman, formerly of Samson, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001 at First Baptist Church of Samson, with burial in Travelers Rest Cemetery. Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smith died Monday, Aug. 20. He was born Aug. 12, 1926 to Jessie and Ludie Brown Smith. He was a pharmacist and a graduate of Holly Pond High School and Auburn University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Peoples Drug in Samson from 1960 until 1997 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Samson where he served as deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, June C. Smith. Survivors include his wife, Lena Campbell Nix Smith of Cullman; sister, Natye Beam of Blountsville; two sons, Stanley T. (Lisa) Smith of Ozark and Phillip H. (Debbie) Smith of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Stuart Smith of Montgomery, David Smith of Auburn, Sara Bethany Smith of Ozark and Chase Smith of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity. Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. for family and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for others.

Carmon Angeline Stancil
Services for Carmon Angeline Stancil, 77, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001 at Moss Service Chapel, Gary Waddell officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery. Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Stancil died Sunday, Aug. 19 at Cullman Long Term Care. She was born Dec. 18, 1923 in Cullman to Henry and Leaner Breasseal Nail. She was a floral designer. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include a son, Dwight (Elaine) Stancil; a brother, Bennie H. Nail; a sister, Velma Flynn; two granddaughters, Mindy Cleghorn and Yvonne Stancil; and two great-grandsons, Spencer Hale and Grayson Webster. Visitation was Monday.

Carolyn Ann Scott

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Lloyd Scott of Cullman; two sons, Tim (Jessica) Scott and Todd (Rhonda) Scott, both of Cullman; her mother, Lena Kathryn Coker of Decatur; and two grandchildren, Adam and Ashley Scott. Larry A. Henderson
Services for Larry Alan Henderson, 63, of Holly Pond will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, Tom Williams officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery. Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Henderson died Monday, Aug. 20, at his residence. He was born in Cullman County on July 2, 1938, to William E. and Doris Scott Henderson. He was a poultry farmer and member of Holly Pond Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother; Doris Henderson; his wife, Margaret Ruth Henderson; three daughters, Danette (Keith) Johnson, Theresa (Sam) Benefield, and Ginger (Keith) Garner; a son, Brad (Crystal) Henderson; a sister, Myra Hendrix; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Linda) Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Leslie Benefield, Luke Benefield, Heath Garner, Morgan Henderson, and Jordan Henderson; and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be members of the Holly Pond Volunteer Fire Department.

Mamie Lee Walker
Services for Mamie Lee Walker, 92, of Addison were Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 at Sardis No. 2 Baptist Church, David Miller, Kip Box and Garland McCarn officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Nichols Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Walker died Saturday, Aug. 18, at her residence. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley (Bobby) Butler of Addison; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
