Mr. Farr died Tuesday, July 17 at Decatur General Hospital. He was born in Cullman County on Sept. 9, 1953 to James Edward and Omie Lee Hollaway Farr. He was a laborer, working in the Florida orange groves, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dade City, Fla.
Survivors include four brothers, Roger Farr of Tampa, Fla., Tommy Farr of Dade City, Fla., Stanley Farr of Hudson, Fla., and Rodney Farr of Danville; three sisters, Margie Tackett of Harold, Ky., Margaret McGee of Danville, and Abie Gail Posey of Hudson, Fla.

Mr. Bates died Wednesday, July 18 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born in Cullman County on May 20, 1926 to Rufus S. and Mary Johnson Bates. He was a farmer and a member of the 291st Signal Heavy Duty Construction Company with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gerold Bates.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Sandlin Bates of Bremen; a son, Phillip Bates of Mobile; a daughter, Deborah Liveoak of Madison; three sisters, Syble Whitstone of Montgomery, Nell Harbison and Ruth Shaw, both of Holly Pond; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Bates and Phillip Bates Jr., both of Mobile, and Cristin Liveoak of Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters, Mary Lee Johnson, Gracie Percilla Pullen, Callie Marie Jacobs, Leva Derada Brasher and Anna Mae Renfroe; and four brothers, Henry Brown, Andrew Leonard, Carris and Dock Glin Johnson.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Lorice (Jimmie) Harry of New Site; two sons, Ulen Lee (Patricia McManus) Umphrey of Cullman and Alva Coyis (Sue Moore) Umphrey of Deatsville; a granddaughter, Jolanda Kay (Darryl Wayne) Hutson of Cullman; seven grandsons, Calvin Lee Umphrey of Birmingham, James Edward Umphrey of Archer, Fla., Timothy Lee (Tracy Rushing) Harry of Alexander City, Gavin Wayne Hutson, Colby Luke Hutson, David Michael Harry and Daniel Matthew Harry; a brother, Calvin Waldo (Arlee Mavis) Johnson of Cullman; two sisters, Clara Irene Helton and Elaine Eleanor Beck, both of Cullman; a sister-in-law, Alene Johnson of Addison; a brother-in-law, Grover Cleveland Pullen of Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Turner of Decatur; two sons, Jimmy Edward Turner Jr. and Jeffery Blaine Turner, both of Cullman; two stepdaughters, Cindy Tribble and Christy Burnham, both of Decatur; a sister, Patricia (Harold) Russell of Cullman; and six grandchildren, Kyle Shane Turner, Madison Kate Turner, Riley Jade Turner, McKenzie Harris, Justin Wise and Zack Wise.

Survivors include her mother; a son, Chuck (Theresa) Cobb of Hartselle; two daughters, Terri (Shannon) Turrentine of Hartselle and Tina Hopper Bader of New York; two sisters, Ruth Johnson and Doris Harbison; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Hollis, Stephen, Bertis and George Kelsoe; four daughters, Martha, Kathryn, Karen and Sandra; and three sisters, Irene Minor, Clara Edwards and Sue Covington.

Betty Ann Ozier, 44, of Hanceville died Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at her residence. She was born Oct. 3, 1956 to the late Clayton and Clarcie Phillips Williams. She was an engineer with the city of Birmingham.
She is survived by her husband, James Michael Ozier; a son, James Lee Calvert of Crane Hill; and three sisters, Leo Swann and Ella Hancock, both of Crane Hill and Rosette Shaw of Trimble.
