Red Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery 
Location: 3 miles west of Attalla, on Highway 278. 

History of Red Hill United Methodist Church, and Cemetery: 

The first church was organized, and built on the property of Fitzhugh 
Lee.   Later John J. Haggard made arrangements to obtain two acres of 
land from J. W. Clifton to build the church on.   Several families 
from the community cut timber from their land, and took it to the 
church site.   Them and many others donated their time, and labor, 
and soon the woodframed building was erected.    Rev. Nimrod Dobbs 
appears to be the first pastor of Red Hill Church, serving in 1921. 
Jennie Summers, the mother of Mrs. J. J. Haggard, was the first adult 
to be buried in the church cemetery in 1925.    She was followed by 
Katie Bell Jones in 1926. 
In 1947, a building program was started for building a brick building 
with a full basement for Sunday School, and a Fellowship Hall.  Which 
are still used today.
