Tuscaloosa, Ala., April 25, - (Special Correspondence.)
One of the most enjoyable social events of the past week was the
meeting of the Chit-Chat Club with Miss Jodie Neilson Wednesday
afternoon. Progressive flinch was the game for the afternoon
and it was played with the liveliest interest. The prize, a
large box of candy, was captured by Miss Lollie Eddins on a cut
with Miss Mary Lizzie Thweatt. After dainty refreshments had
been served the following programme was rendered:
Vocal solo, Miss Mary Emma Browne; reading, Miss Lottie I. Hibler;
piano solo, Miss Grace Guerrant. Among the out-of-town guests were
Miss Anna Stillman, of Birmingham; Miss Grace Guerrant, of
Wilmore, Ky.; Miss Mary Lizzie Thweatt. of Eufaula, and Miss Angie
Jones, of Macon, Miss.
Miss Bertha Prowell. of Birmingham, is visiting friends in the
city.
Miss Patti Cox, of Carrollton, is the guest of Mrs. Alex Miller.
Master James Fitts Hill, of Knoxville, Tenn., is visiting his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Fitts, on Broad street.
Miss Mary Robertson, of Charlottsville, Va., is the guest of her
sister, Mrs. Alonzo Hill, on Broad street.
Mrs. Harvey H. Cribbs has gone for an extended visit to her son,
H. H. Cribbs, Jr., at Anniston.
Judge and Mrs. Henderson M. Somerville, of New York, are
visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ormond Somerville.
Mrs. R. G. McCants, of Meridian, Miss., is visiting her sister,
Mrs. W. G. Cochrane, at the Washington hotel.
Miss Belle Clements, was maid of honor at the marriage of Miss
Anna McQueen and Mr. Charley Hays at Eutaw Wednesday evening.
Miss Marion Parker, who has been the guest of her cousin, Miss
Jodie Neilson, has returned to her home at Columbus.
Miss Anna Stillman, of Birmingham, will arrive soon to be the
guest of Mrs. D. Clay Lilly.
Miss Lilie Myer, of Birmingham, is the charming guest of her
cousin, Miss Frances Myer.
Miss Bessie Dakin, of Port Gibson, Miss., is the attractive
visitor of Miss Edith Lodge on Eighth street.
Mrs. Joseph McLester, of Birmingham, visited Mrs. Ellen
Peter-Bryce this week.
Mrs. T. T. Huey, of Bessemer, is visiting her sister. Mrs. James
J. Mayfield. Mrs. Mayfield entertained informally in her honor
Tuesday afternoon.
Miss Dora Manuel has returned from a visit to Chattanooga.

The Kappa Delta society at the university gave an entertainment at the home
of President and Mrs. Abercrombie at the university. The guests of honor
were the members of the Alpha Delta Phi society and the new "co-eds" at the
university. A guessing contest was enjoyed, Miss Helen Tuttle winning the
prize, a large Alabama pennant.
Miss Stella Marshall, who has been the guest of her cousin, Miss Marilou
Alston, has returned to her home in Louisiana.
Mrs. A. A. Shaw has returned home from New York.
Mrs. J. Q. Hood, of. Chester, S. C., is visiting her mother, Mrs. I. Hood.
Miss Nell Cribbs, who has been visiting her sister at Hendersonville,
N. C., has returned home.
Miss Annie Morgan has returned from a visit to Miss Ruth Gaudin, in
Birmingham.
Miss Yanita Cribbs has gone to Raleigh, N. C., to resume her duties as
teacher in expression at St. Mary's College.
Mrs. E. C. Craddock, of Birmingham, is the guest of Mr. Craddock's mother,
Mrs. Fannie Craddock.
Miss Lelia Harris has returned from a visit to Detroit, Mich.
Misses Cornelia and Amelia Donaho, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Donaho,
have gone to Montevallo to attend school.
Mrs. C. M. Donaho has gone to Birmingham for a few days.
Miss Stella Searcy Harris, who has been spending the summer with her
sister, at Detroit, Mich., has returned home.
Mrs. A. C. Albright has gone to Gadsden to visit her sister.
Mrs. Ormond Somerville has returned from a pleasant visit to relatives in
Kentucky.
Miss Mary Verner has returned from a visit to Toxaway and other points in
the Carolinas.
Mrs. E. Comer, of Vicksburg, Miss., is visiting her son, Mr. George E.
Comer, and family.
Mrs. Wet. H. Naugher gave an entertainment in honor of her guests, the
Misses Rippy and Miss Blanche Naugher.
Miss Alline McGehee, of Mobile, is the guest of Mrs. A. M. McGehee.
Miss Margaret Dewey, after a visit to Miss Lela Jemison, has returned to her
home in Birmingham. .
Misses Ella and Margaret Blackshear, of Mobile, are visiting Mrs. T. C.
McCorvey, at the university,
Miss Jennie K. Moore, of Chattanooga, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
L. F. Moore.
Mrs. I. Hagler and Miss Josephine Hagler, of Tyner, are visiting in the city.
Miss Clara Thomson, of Birmingham, is visiting her aunts, Miss Virginia
Duncan and Mrs. Fergus Gayle.
Miss Minnie Wildman has gone to New York for a stay of ten days.
Mr. and Mrs. Norfleet Harris have issued cards for an "at home" for Friday
evening, in honor of their fifteenth anniversary.
Mrs. L. O. Dawson has returned from a visit to Marion, Ala.
