WOOD
01-20-2005

Graveside services for Velma Snead Wood, 88, were at 2 p.m. Monday at Green lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Chuck Cummings officiating and K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge.

Mrs. Wood died Jan. 13 at her home.

Survivors include a daughter, Debby Smith of Port Orange, Fla.; a son, Thomas W. Wood of Jacksonville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rodney Wood, Randy Wood, Randy Wood Jr., Josh Masters, Robert Rowan, David Hoskins and Brad Hooper.

Mrs. Wood was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster M. Wood; a daughter, Sandy Wood; two sisters, Edith Reaves and Alba Applebaum and a brother, J.T. Snead.

BUTTRAM
01-28-2005

Services for Betty Joan Buttram, 72, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center chapel with Revs. Gene Bledsoe and Jonathan Pate officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Buttram died Jan. 19 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include a son, Russell Buttram of Jacksonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Terry Estes of Alexandria; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Diane Tibbitts of Blue Mountain; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret and Claude Bundrum of Jacksonville and Kathleen Rogers of Weaver; two grandchildren, Stacey Wilkins and her husband, Greg, and Shane Estes and his wife, Sarah; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Shane Estes, Sonny Bundrum, Tim Rogers, Winston Tibbitts, Donnie Tibbitts, Michael Schwartz, Randy Boyd and Travis Bundrum.

Mrs. Buttram, a Jacksonville native, was a member of Hatcher Avenue Baptist Church.

She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Buttram; her parents, Tom and Mamie Tibbitts; and three brothers, Eugene Tibbitts, Howard Tibbitts and Wayne Tibbitts.

BEAIRD

Servies for Ella Mae Beaird, 50, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 24 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Rev. Thomas Chathay officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

Mrs. Beaird died Jan. 21 at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham.

Survivors include four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Alice Loraine and Wayne Delisle of Lincoln, Ruth and Jim Whetstone of Blue Mountain, Sue and Hugh Morris-Barrett of Augusta, Ga., and Lucy Beaird of Palm Harbor, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Russell Ingram, Shane Rohey, Bryan Babbitt, Bert Rowan, Buff Hall and Ken Nance.

Ms. Beaird attended Duke School and graduated from Alexandria High School. She received her degree in radiology technology from Middle Georgia Medical College in Macon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Mildred Beaird and three brothers, Charles, Ray and Terry Beaird.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P. O Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265-0309.

BONE

Services for Joseph Paul Bone, 80, of Sand Rock were at 2 p.m. Jan. 24 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Hosey officiating. Burial was at Cherokee Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Bone died Jan. 22 at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Wheeler Bone; a daughter, Dorothy Ann Spears of Sand Rock; three brothers, Orvel Bone of Attalla, James Bone of Centre and Bobby Bone of Collinsville; three sisters, Ruby Warren of Jacksonville, Louise Bedwell of Piedmont and Betty Black of Centre; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bone was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Joseph Howard and Beulah Mae Jones Bone. He was a member of Sand Rock Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was a retired land surveyor with the Alabama Soil Conservation Service.

GLENN

Services for James William Glenn Jr., 74, were at 11 a.m. Jan. 24 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Revs. William Strickland, James Martin and David Daniels Jr., officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Glenn died Jan. 21 at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include his wife, Lola Faye Doss Glenn; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Terry Dyer of Wellington; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Debbie Glenn of the Roy Webb community and Lamar and Shirley Trantham of Conyers, Ga.; two sisters, Francis Burton of Baltimore, Md., and Janet McCoig of Laurens, S. C.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chris Trantham, Jason Trantham, Kevin Trantham, Brian Boozer, Jackie Doss and Harley McGatha.

Mr. Glenn was a South Carolina native and had lived in Calhoun County 55 years. He attended Congregational Holiness Church and was retired from Dixie Clay. He was a World War II Army veteran.

HEATH

Services for Janice Faye Heath, 62, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 24 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Rev. James Abernathy officiating. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Heath died Jan. 22 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Heath of Jacksonville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rhonda Brickhouse, Renae Sims and William Watson and Renita and Randy Allen, all of Jacksonville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Rita Heath of Jacksonville and Randy and Joyce Heath of Weaver; four sisters, Betty Hall of Ohatchee, Diane McCrelles of Jacksonville, Linda Kilgore of Weaver and Copeleena Sparks of Wellington; nine grandchildren, Ricky Heath, Ronnie Heath, Landon Sims, Cameron Heath, Amy Brickhouse, Brandy Cline, Chelsea Cline, Grant Watson and Kaitlyn Watson; and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Curtis Dale Heath, Mark McCrelles, Jeremy McCrelles, Rocky Kirby, Shannon Sparks and Jeffrey Maddox.

Mrs. Heath was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Michael Heath; a brother, James Elbert Murray; a sister, Deborah Haney; and her mother, Nobie Crook Murray.
