Services for Nora Morgan Cobbs, 88, were at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Revs. Sherry Travis and Stanley Easton officiating and K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge.
Mrs. Cobbs died Dec. 13 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Leigh Cobbs of Jacksonville, and a grandchild, Joshua Avery Cobbs and his wife, Jenny.
Mrs. Cobbs was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Avery Cobbs; a son, Francis Avery Cobbs; and her parents, John Freeman Morgan and Laura Alice Harcrow.

HAGGERTY

Services for June Smith Haggerty, 72, were at 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bert Breland officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Haggerty died Dec. 7 at Riverview Medical Center in Gadsden.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ralph O. Haggerty; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Randy Wiggins of Jacksonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Barry R. and Denise Haggerty of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Mary Ellen Tucker of Fayette; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph T. and Nancy Smith of Jacksonville; a sister-in-law, Janet Smith of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Lindsay S. Haggerty of Panama City, Ashley D. Wiggins of Mobile, Jordan M. Haggerty of Panama City, Brett R. Wiggins of Auburn, Kristen N. Scott of Tampa, Fla., and Kasey R. Scott of Panama City; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mike Stephens, Ray Stephens, Tommy Smith, Kevan Tucker, Brandon Smith and Rick Browning. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Friendship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Haggerty enjoyed sewing, traveling and her flower gardens. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 45 years and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Keenagers. A graduate of Jacksonville High School, she taught at Jacksonville High School for 26 years and Emma Samson High School in Gadsden for four years. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University and her master’s degree at the University of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Vann Smith; a brother-in-law, James P. Tucker, and her parents, Clarence and Jessie Smith.

MARTIN

Graveside services for Sheryl Webb Martin, 55, of Anniston were at noon Dec. 10 at Forestlawn Gardens with Rev. Sherry Travis and Stanley Easton officiating. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory was in charge.
Ms. Martin died Dec. 7 at Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Smith of Jacksonville.
Ms. Martin, a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident, was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church or a favorite charity.
SMITH

Services for George Earl Smith, 89, were at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at Jacksonville Church of Christ with Allen Webster officiating. Burial was in Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston with K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge.
Mr. Smith died Dec. 8 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Thanie Frady Smith; a daughter, Carol Hagan of Jacksonville; a son, David J. Smith of Waxahatchie, Texas; four grandchildren, Eric Hagan, Robbin Smith, Allison Smith and Danielle Eichhorst; several step grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and several step great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were members of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Smith, a Burnside, Ky., native, had lived in Calhoun County most of his life. He was a member of Church of Christ. A World War II veteran, he retired from the Anniston Army Depot Fire Department.
THARPE

Memorial services for Lou Willie Butler Tharpe, 84, were at 2 p.m. Dec, 11 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center chapel with Rev. Jason Alexander Childs officiating.
Mrs. Tharpe died Dec. 8 at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Survivors include five daughters and three sons-in-law, Jean and George Griffins of Delta; June and Quincey Cook of Mobile; Melba and Dennis Elksnis of Berlin, Md., Betty Scheinost of Jacksonville and Brenda Jackson of Oxford; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Sherry Butler of Jacksonville; a sister, Ella Nelson of Plant City, Fla.; 21 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tharpe, a lifelong Calhoun County resident, was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God. She packed bombs at Anniston Army Depot during World War II and had been employed at Anniston Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Martin A. Butler and S.A. Tharpe, and a daughter, Louanne Street.
FORD

Services for Clifford Eugene Ford Sr., 75, were at 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center chapel with Rev. Kyle Black officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Ford died Aug. 17 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William Lamar and Debbie Ford of Green Cove Springs, Fla., and Donnie and Marla Ford of Ragland; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Davin Ford, Aaron Ford, Bo Batey, Gary Dempsey, Rodney Glass and Krager Vaughn.
Mr. Ford, a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident, was a Korean War Army veteran. He retired from Union Yarn Mills in Jacksonville in 1994. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Lee Ford, and two sons, Clifford E. Ford Jr., and Tony Ford.
