Morgan Jackson Cathy, 64, died May 6 at his residence. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Cathy of Jacksonville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Leisha Reaves of Weaver and Laurie and Charles Newman of Jacksonville; a sister, Jean Denny of Palm City, Fla.; four grandchildren, Heather Reaves, Holly Reaves, Eric Newman and Kelly Newman, and three nephews.
Memorials may be made for pancreatic cancer research to the UAB Cancer Center, 1530 Third Ave., S., WTI Building, Room No. 241, Birmingham 35249-3300.
MURRAY

Memorial services for Barney Herbert Murray, 75, were at 2 p.m. May 7 at the home of Marsha Gail Andrews with Rev. Herbert Stanley Murray Jr., officiating. Burial was in the Wright Family Cemetery with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary of Anniston in charge.
Mr. Murray died May 3 in Gadsden.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Barney Herbert and Lisa Murray and Daniel Patton and Scarlett Murray, of Anniston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marsha Gail Andrews of Glencoe and Laura and Michael Saunders of Huntsville; seven grandchildren, Stanley Andrews and his wife, Carrie, Aleasha Andrews, Kati Blalock and her husband, Keir, Herbie Murray and his wife, Brandy, John Murray and his wife, Dawn, Shawn Dingler and her husband, Michael and Tori Emigh; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the staff of McGuffey’s Health and Rehabilitation in Gadsden.
Mr. Murray, a Jacksonville native, had lived in Forth Worth, Texas. He retired as a musician.
He was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Stanley Murray; a sister, Ester Allen; a brother, James Murray; a grandson, Adam Lee Murray; and his parents, Barney and Laura Murray.

TYE

Services for Hazel Christine Lester Tye, 92, were at 2 p.m. May 12 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bert Breland officiating. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery with K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge.
Mrs. Tye died May 9 at Gadsden Health Care.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Tye of Jacksonville; a son, Marvin Tye of Jacksonville; a sister, Elizabeth Angelich of Birmingham; and a grandchild, Laura Tye.
Pallbearers were William Lester, Chris Terrell, Chris Holt, Paul Jones, Rev. Jimmy Wilson and Bob Crossley. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Jane Self Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Tye, a Jacksonville native and lifelong resident, was a member of First Baptist Church.
She taught school for 17 years at Saks Elementary, Noble Elementary and Bon Air Elementary in Talladega County.
She was a member of the Jacksonville State University Alumni Association, ADK, American Association of University Women, Calhoun County Retired Teachers and the Jacksonville Book Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Edwin Tye, and two brothers, Hubert Lester and Bill Lester.
TRANTHAM

Graveside services for Hazel Irene Trantham, 77, of Gadsden were at 11 a.m. March 25 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Leesburg. Rev. Ray Johnson officiated. Collier-Butler Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Trantham died March 23.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roger Ellison; a daughter-in-law, Jualita “Lucy” Trantham; and a grandson and his wife, Shane and Gina Ellison.
Mrs. Trantham was of the Baptist faith. She was born in Jacksonville but had resided in Etowah County mot of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Trantham, and a son, John Trantham.
WHALEY

Services for Larry L. Whaley, 54, of Anniston were at 2 p.m. March 31 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center chapel with Revs.
Ricky and Neva Hudson officiating. Burial was in The Nine Gifts Cemetery.
Mr. Whaley died March 28 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.
Survivors inlude his wife, Nancy Parker Whaley of Jacksonville; a daughter, Angel Christina Whaley of Jacksonville; three sisters, Linda Turley and Cupid Lynette Dewberry, both of Anniston and Frances Mauldin of Ohatchee; two sisters-in-law, Frankie Whaley and Meo Haynes, both of Jacksonville; two brothers, James Whaley and Calvin Whaley, both of Georgia, and three grandchildren, Isaiah Le’vell Whaley-Goree, Kemieah Me’Le Whaley-Goree and Daneigh Jane Whaley-Goree.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Mr. Whaley, a lifelong Calhoun County resident, attended The Church of The Nine Gifts. A Marine Corps veteran, he served in the Vietnam era. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James V. Whaley and Maudie Lee Whaley; and two brothers, Johnny Whaley and Kenneth Whaley.
