A celebration of life for Sandra G. Wood, 59, was held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at Aliamanu Military Reservation in Honolulu, with Chaplain David R. Brock and Ted Otaguro officiating.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Anniston with Rev. Sherry Travis officiating. Chapel Hill Funeral Home was in charge.
Ms. Wood died Jan. 19 at Straub Medical Center and Hospital in Honolulu.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Michael White; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Renee Rowan of Alexandria; two stepdaughters, Jamie Raaum and Michelle Bricker; a stepson, Matthew White; her mother, Velma Wood of Jacksonville; a brother, Thomas Wayne Wood of Jacksonville; a sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Bob Smith of Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Justin Rowan Doyal and Alex Rowan.
Pallbearers were Harold “Buff” Hall, Dustan Warren, Shane Roney and members of the 2025 Transportation Unit.
Ms. Wood was a 1961 graduate of Jacksonville High School.
She received a bachelor of science degree in education in 1965 from Jacksonville State University and a master’s degree in education from Georgia State University.
She completed 20 semester credit hours in executive leadership at George Washington University in 1999. She completed the Army Management Staff College in 1993 and attended Harvard’s 30-day John F. Kennedy School of Business Senior Executive Fellows Program in 2002.
In her position of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Chief for U. S. Army Installation Management Agency Pacific Region, she provided care for soldiers and their families by ensuring that that department met all mission support requirements.
Since August 1999 she had served as MWR Chief for U. S. IMA-Europe at Campbell Barracks, Heidelberg, Germany. She was responsible for family, sports/recreation, and business programs for seven area support groups and 16 base support battalions in Germany, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.
During her 20 year career, Ms. Wood held many MWR positions and was known throughout the Army at levels from installation to Department of the Army.
She received numerous awards, including the decoration for Meritorious Civilian Service, Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel Staff Office of the Year, Commander’s Award for Civilian Service Department of Army and the highest award given to MWR personnel, the Order of the White Plume Award.
Ms. Wood was preceded in death by her father, Foster Wood.

BOOZER

Funeral services for Florence Edna Angel Boozer, 85, were at 11 a.m. Feb. 3 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Revs. Stan Broom and James Cohorn officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Boozer died Feb. 1 at Coosa Valley Health Care in Glencoe.
Survivors include a son, Bernard Boozer of Jacksonville; two sisters, Elizabeth Johnson of Holiday, Fla., and Tracy Pritchett of Jacksonville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Bobby Angel, James A. Angel, Roscoe Angel, Woodson Lloyd, Joey Pritchett, Phillip Pritchett and Henry Wynn.
Mrs. Boozer had been a member of First Baptist Church for more than 50 years and a member of Jane Self Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Boozer; her parents, Jim and Addie Angel; a sister, Nanie Mae Angel and three brothers, James Angel, Silas Angel and Dalton Angel.
HARPER

Graveside services for Johnnilee C. Harper, 96, of Mobile were at 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at Lincoln Cemetery with Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega in charge.
Mrs. Harper died Jan. 26 at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy H. Bentley of Mobile; two grandchildren, Dr. John Franklin Bentley and Paul Crawford Bentley; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Harper taught business subjects at Jacksonville High School and was an assistant professor of business administration at Jacksonville State University.

MIZE

Funeral services for Florene Elizabeth Mize, 84, were at 2 p.m. Feb. 3 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Revs. Gene Bledsole and Ricky Hudson officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mize died Feb. 1 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Gene and Pat Mize of Bowdon, Ga., and George Calvin and Penny Mize of Jacksonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Jane and Larry Turner of Sour Lake, Texas; two sisters, Opal Lipham and Esther Laney, both of Ranburne; a brother, Tom Slaton of Ranburne; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were George C. Mize Jr., Richard Brown, George C. Mize III, Mike Mize, Greg Mize and Marty Spears.
Mrs. Mize was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Mize.
She was a homemaker and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
NEWSOME

Services for Luther “Jerry” Gerald Newsome, 48, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 31 at First Baptist Church of Williams, with Revs. Michael Oliver, Bob McLeod, James Martin and William Strickland officiating.
Burial was in Williams Cemetery with K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge.
Mr. Newsome died Jan. 29 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Ponder Newsome; his mother, Betty Ann Fair Newsome of Jacksonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Christian “Chris” and Alicia Newsome of Jacksonville; a sister, Vivian Newsome Garner of Jacksonville; his parents-in-law, Doug and Faye Ponder of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Tyler Ponder, Sean Ponder, Jeremy Quinn, David Phillips, Mack Fair, Ray Roberts, Michael Quinn and Robin Quinn. Honorary pallbearers were employees of Lufkin Trailers of Alabama.
Mr. Newsome attended First Baptist Church of Williams. He co-owned Lufkin Trailers of Alabama and was former manager of Jacksonville Auto Parts. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Newsome.
