Services for James Michael “Mike” Brock, 55, were at 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel, with Revs. Gene Burgess and Stan Broome officiating. Entombment with Masonic honors was in the Anniston Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Brock died Sept. 8 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Noah Brock; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janna and Danny Gardner of Birmingham and Shannon and Blaine Lacy of Delta; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brock of Jacksonville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Ray Andrews of Cottondale and Iris and John Rainey of Birmingham; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ardie Brock of Jefferson, Colo.; five grandchildren, Noah Gardner, Colten James, Blair Lacy, Brock Lacy and Emilee Gardner; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Eric Andrews, Tommy Blackmon, Ed Carter, Chris Johnson, Carey Blackmon, Brant Noah, Derek Johnson, Brian Neely, Jeremy Guthrie and Cory Guthrie.
Mr. Brock was a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident. He was a member of Ohatchee Lodge No. 380 F&AM.

CARPENTER

Services for Pauline Carpenter, 81, were at noon Sept. 16 at First Baptist Church on Vann Street with Rev. Gerald Smith officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Cemetery with Ervin Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Carpenter died Sept. 11 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Thomas Carpenter of Jacksonville, Rickey and Barbara Carpenter of Valdosta, Ga., Ronald B. and Mary Carpenter of Spokane, Wash., and Oscar and Terrie Carpenter of DeRidder, La.; six daughters and a son-in-law, Angelene C. Landry, Margaret L. Johnson, Lois Smith, Gwendolyn Walker and Charlotte Dobbins, all of Jacksonville, and Helene Curtis McGhee of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Geneva Abernathy Bolton of Anniston; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Carpenter; her parents, Key and Frances Dobbins Abernathy and four children, Harry Charles Carpenter, Nathaniel Carpenter, Louis Carpenter and Veronica Annette Carpenter.
HENSLEY

Services for Deborah Kay Coggins-Hensley, 50, were at 11 a.m. Sept. 13 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Rev. Jessie Barksdale officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Hensley died Sept. 10 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carrie Ann and Jeno Halladay of Jacksonville, Becky Jean and Jeff Reaves of Albertville and Reci Michelle Hensley of Weaver; two sisters, Wanda Bonds of Jacksonville and Barbara Cauley of Bee Branch, Ark.; four grandchildren, Zachary Halladay, Haley Reaves, Sydney Hensley and Ashley Reaves; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jamie Dickeson, Scott Dickeson, Jeff Dickeson, Barry Hudgins, Johnny Gale Hensley and Curtis Clay.
Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Hensley; her parents, James and Vera Coggins; two brothers, Fred Coggins and Billy Coggins; and two sisters, Betty King and Jean Dickeson.
Mark Wayne Heberling

Memorial services for Mark Wayne Heberling, 75, were at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Robertson officiating. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Heberling died Aug. 4 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Margaret Ellen Miller Heberling; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and James Sturdivant of Harrisburg, N. C., Julie Ann and Brad Winsor of Cedartown, Ga., and Victoria and Les Havard of Kennesaw, Ga.; a son, and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Rita Heberling of Carrollton, Ga.; two sisters, Esther Scialanca of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ruth Tomei of Alameda, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, William, Ariel and Amber Sturdivant, Ryan, Michael, Stephen, Mary and Rebekah Windsor, Elysse and Leanne Heberling and Matthew, Ellen and Adam Havard; and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Friendship Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.
Born in Orwin, Pa., Mr. Heberling, a World War II Air Force veteran, had lived in Jacksonville 30 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
He was active in VFW Post 924’s youth programs, including the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen, the American Legion Post 57’s youth programs, including Boys State and the Oratorical Contest, and the Institute of Industrial Engineers. He retired from Federal-Mogul and later worked at the Tree Farm Co., in Talladega.
He enjoyed playing the ukulele, banjo and guitar. He enjoyed golf and vegetable gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Mary Heberling, and a sister, Mary Weber.

Lou Ann Caldwell

Memorial services for Lou Ann Caldwell, 59, of Snellville, Ga., will be at 11 a.m. July 26 at Grace Fellowship Church with Rev. Buddy Hoffman and Matt Williams officiating. Tom M. Wages Funeral Service Inc., of Snellville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Caldwell died July 17.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph M. Caldwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Brad Hornibrook of Birmingham; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig and Kristina Caldwell of Alpharetta, Ga., and Brian Caldwell of Snellville; four grandchildren, Dylan, Catie, Emily and Gwyneth; three sisters, Catherine Kerneklian, Nancy Albertson and Betty Gallop, all of Virginia Beach, Va., and two brothers, Kenneth Legum of Monroe and Larry Legum of Chesapeake, Va.
Mrs. Caldwell was born in Norfolk, Va. She received her BS degree, master’s degree and specialist degree in education from Mercer University. She taught for more than 23 years.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Winship Cancer Institute or Hospice of Atlanta, in her memory.
Olene Martin Tibbitts

Services for Olene Martin Tibbitts, 73, were at 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Revs. James Lee Brown and Jonathan Pate officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Tibbitts died July 30 at her home.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Winston H. Tibbitts of Jacksonville and Donald E. and Darlene Tibbitts of Eulaton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Walter Rymezwicz of East Freetown, Mass., and Anita and John Bilton and Kathy and Wayne Spears, all of Jacksonville; five sisters, Ida Jolley of Pensacola, Fla., Argie McGibins of Atlanta, Jean Pollard of Weaver, Laura Dooley of Electic and Faye Sorrells of Hoschton, Ga.; a caregiver, Pat Stringfellow; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tim Rogers, Clifton Dooley, Sonny Bundrum, Travis Bundrum, Harold Hall, Kenneth Hall, Russ Buttram and Keith Tibbitts.
Mrs. Tibbitts, a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident, was a member of White’s Gap Baptist Church and the Alexandria Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Tibbitts; her mother, Cordilla Martin; her father, Gene Martin; a grandson, Anthony Tibbitts; two brothers, and two sisters.
