Woodrow DeMoss, 81, of Red Level, died Friday, March 30, 2001 at his residence. A funeral was held Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Griel D. Smith and Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Music was provided by Frances Johnson accompanied by Elbert Craig, Randy Walden, and J.C. Walden. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery.

Eula Frances White, 67, of River Falls, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her residence. A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4, at 1 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in River Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice.
Wesley Grant “Dub” Bush
Wesley Grant “Dub” Bush, 75, of Andalusia, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 in a local hospital. He retired from the U.S. Army and served during World War II. A funeral was held Tuesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with U.S. Army Chaplain officiating. Eulogy was provided by his son, Wesley Bush. Private inurnment services will be handle later by the family.
Ella Reid Lamothe
Ella Reid Lamothe, 76, died in Frederick, Md., April 13, 2001, after a brief illness. She grew up in Andalusia and graduated from Judson College. She was the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. Robert S. Ried of Andalusia. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Reid was Ruth O’Neal a daughter of the late Cyrus A. and Ella Law O’Neal. Ella Lamothe was an accomplished pianist and singer. She was employed by the USO Camp Shows during World War II. During this time she traveled extensively in Europe entertaining the troops. While with the USO she met Jack Lamothe and they were married in 1947. They raised five children and spent most of their lives in Massachusetts and retired to Naples, Fla. They settled at the Wilderness Country Club where they enjoyed golf and many friends. She relocated to Frederick, Md. in December 2000, to be near her children. A memorial mass was conducted at St. John the Evangelist in Frederick, Md., Tuesday morning, at 10 a.m. Arrangements were handled by Keeney and Basford Funeral Home with P. Ryan McMillan as Funeral Director.

Barry Wilkerson and Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Music will be provided by Lisa Rolling. Susan Stephens Taylor
Susan Stephens Taylor, 36, of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died April 7, 2001, in Houston after an extended illness. A funeral was held Wednesday, April 11, at 2 P.M., at Williams Funeral Home. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Morris officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 10, from 6 to 8 P.M. and one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Doris Craig Scroggins, 65, of Andalusia, died Friday, April 13, 2001, in a Dothan hospital. A funeral will be held Sunday, April 15, at 2:30 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. John Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in South Church of God Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, April 14, after 6 p.m.
William Samuel McGaughy Jr.
William Samuel McGaughy Jr., 77, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Mr. McGaughy was a member of the The F.O.P., the V.F.W. Post 3407, The 82nd Airborne Association, and The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Association. He was an Alabama State Trooper, stationed in Andalusia, for 15 years, as well as a veteran of The U.S. Army and a retired Deputy Sheriff for Jefferson County. His late wife worked for Turner’s Dress Shop that was formerly located on the square in Andalusia. A funeral will be held Friday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at Angwin Mortuary Center’s Birmingham Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 12 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Pamela Patterson Maloy
Pamela Patterson Maloy, 46, of Birmingham, formerly of Andalusia, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at her residence. Pam was a loving wife and mother and was able to make a difference in many lives through her love for teaching children and volunteer work. She was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and volunteered at the Hope Lodge, a housing center for cancer patients who must travel to receive treatment, located in Birmingham. A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Hunter Street Baptist Church with a graveside service at 4 p.m. in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Cancer Society’s Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge. These memorials can be made directly to Hope Lodge at 1104 Ireland Way, Birmingham, AL 35205, or through Rideout’s Southern Heritage who will be directing the funeral.

Florence Bonner Mancuso
Graveside services for Mrs. Florence Bonner Mancuso, 86, of Georgetown and formerly of Eufaula were scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, at 3 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery Addition. Dr. Ken Bush was to officiate with Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Mrs. mancuso died Sunday, March 25, at Calhoun Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Gal, after an extended illness. Born July 24, 1914, in Andalusia, Mrs. Mancuso was the daughter of the late John Robert and Anna Lightner Bonner. She was married to the late Robert Mancuso Sr. Mrs. Mancuso was a 1932 graduate of Andalusia High School. She attended Troy State University and after her graduation she worked as the secretary at the courthouse in Andalusia. Mrs. Mancuso moved to Eufaula in 1945 and worked with her husband at their store and tax service until their retirement. Prior to her declining health Mrs. Mancuso worked with many civic, educational and church organizations in the community.
Mary G. Harrison
Mary G. Harrison, 83, a homemaker, died Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at her residence. She graduated from Rawls High School in Covington County as salutatorian of her class and attended Browns College of Cosmetology in Andalusia. She was the widow of Robert E. Harrison. They worked together in their retail furniture store for more than 30 years. “She was a loving wife and mother, and caring homemaker,” said her daughter, Sandra Apostolos of River Ridge, La. “She loved people in the truest sense of the word.” She enjoyed community activities and chaired numerous civic organizations and drives. She and her husband were charter members of citizens Southwest and were instrumental in its organization. She love horticulture and enjoyed using her artistic talents in creating flower arrangements that won her many awards. She was a member of numerous garden clubs, the Iris society and the Hemerocallis Society. She was a member of the Daniel Memorial Baptist Church in South Jackson, joining with her husband in 1952. “She was one of the strongest Christians I have ever known,” said her daughter. “She loved her church and being involved with church work. She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher and church worker for over 45 years. Her life was centered around her Christianity and her family,” her daughter went on to say. A funeral was held February 2, 2001 with burial following in Lakewood Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Children’s Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060.
