Gordon Smith Jones, 78, of Andalusia, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 in a Montgomery hospital. A funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church with Rev. Judd Stinson officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Lake Cemetery. John Marvin Warren, 57, of Red Level, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, in an Opp hospital. A funeral will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. at River Falls Baptist Church with Rev. Buford Brady and Rev. P.J. McClung officiating. Music will be provided by Mark Gunter, soloist, accompanied by Judy Capps and Gail Williams. Burial will follow in River Falls Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.
Clarice J. Gantt
Clarice J. Gantt, of Niagra Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, in Crestwood Health Care Center, in the Town of Wheatfield, after a short illness. Born in Geneva on April 30, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Ernie and Eula (Wright) Jones. She attended schools in Alabama and graduated from Florala High School. She resided in Niagra Falls for 11 years. Mrs. Gantt was employed for several years in the Andalusia area for a shirt factory and in Winterhaven, Fla. for a grocery store. A member of the LaSalle Church of Christ, she enjoyed crafts, crocheting and quilting. She was a very family and church oriented woman. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. at Cold Water Cemetery with Bro.. Terry Stewart officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church and was a retiree of Alatex Laundry. A funeral was held Sunday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Gray officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Northside Baptist Church.

Roscoe Martin
Roscoe Martin, 90, of Andalusia, formerly of Birmingham, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, in a Niceville, Fla. nursing home. Mr. Martin was born and raised in the Wellington community of Calhoun County. He moved to Birmingham and worked with the Seaboard-Coastline RR for 37 years. He had been an active member of Avondale Presbyterian Church, where he had served as Deacon and Elder. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. at Forest Hills Cemtery in Birmingham.

He worked most of his life as an insurance salesman. A funeral was held Friday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Lavon Burke and Rev. C. W. Mullins officiating. Special music was provided by Helen Grissett and Sherry Henderson. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

He retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company as a life insurance salesman after nearly 20 years and was currently employed with Aflac Insurance Company and Keahey Funeral Home. He had served in the Army and was a member of the Andalusia Kiwanis Club and Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. A funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with. Rev. Jere Hendricks and Rev. Jeff Copeland officiating. Special music was provided by Gary Thornton accompanied by Barbara Hendricks. Burial followed in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery.

Grace Ellis Larson
Grace Ellis Larson, 90, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Mount Royal Towers, Vestavia, Alabama. Mrs. Larson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Ellis. With the exception of a few years, Mrs. Larson was a life-long resident of Andalusia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on the Church Board and was the first person to be named Honorary Lifetime Board Member. Mrs. Larson attended Huntingdon College and was designated Alumni of the Year. The Andalusia Chamber of Commerce recognized her as Citizen of the Year and the Alabama House of Representatives passed a resolution in her honor. Through her Christian love, she provided leadership to all who knew her. She will be missed by her family and friends. A funeral will be held Saturday, August 25, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, August 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

Annie Ruth Worley, a native of Andalusia and a resident of Mobile for over 50 years, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in a local nursing facility. Miss Worley was the former owner of Modern Beauty Shop and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mobile. A funeral will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
